After a week's worth of downloads, GIRL GONE WILD and GIVE ME ALL YOUR LUVIN' still figure higher than any of the MDNA tracks. Following behind are GANG BANG, MASTERPIECE and I DON'T GIVE A.... The rest of the other album tracks which were visible during the initial day/s of release no longer appear to have charted. If this is used as a gauge for future release/s, Gang Bang is an (odd) favourite distantly followed by I Don't Give A... (since Masterpiece is already released as a single in the UK only). US iTunes Album as of 03 April, 2012 # 9 MDNA (Deluxe Version) - Madonna
UK iTunes Album as of 03 April, 2012 # 12 MDNA (Deluxe Version) - Madonna
Canada iTunes as of 03 April, 2012 # 5 MDNA (Deluxe Version) - Madonna
Australia iTunes Album as of 03 April, 2012 # 17 MDNA (Deluxe Version) - Madonnamore chart details on mymonumentalicons.blogspot.com/2012/04/madonna-mdna-album-chart-performance.html

I think the only reason I Don't Give A...is selling the way it is, is because of Nicki.

New releases have hit iTunes, so naturally, aside from the post-first-week decline, MDNA was going to drop in rank (it's now No. 12). Plus, believe it or not, there are sales outlets for albums other than iTunes.

I doubt she'll sell under 25k in week 2. That would be over a 90% drop..

^Yah- not that low. But there are a number of new releases this week, which could send it out of the top 10. Without a single getting a lot of play at radio or Madge doing any TV promo, I guess we can't expect it to hang around near the top for too long.

Thank you so much for the newsflash. MDNA is on sale at Target and Best Buy this week (along with a lot of other albums) for $9.99 which might help soften the 2nd week decline. I can't believe people here are salivating at Madonna's 2nd week decline. The music industry is in the toilet so far in 2012 with sales of new albums.

I definitely don't think MDNA is going to drop that hard. She's got 30 years of building a fan base behind her. I'm going to guess quite a number of her fans still go to big box stores to buy albums, which as we've seen with the Whitney Houston albums, could give her a few weeks in the top ten.

I can't believe people here are salivating at Madonna's 2nd week decline. The music industry is in the toilet so far in 2012 with sales of new albums. I wouldn't say people are salivating it. Just because we're not all here cheering for her to hold on doesn't mean we're rooting for her decline either. Most of us aren't here to root for Madonna or any other individual artist. We just like to watch the charts. As a chart watcher, it's interesting to see drastic movement in one direction or another so it's only natural to speculate on what will happen to Madonna's numbers next week.

^No. Since HITS announced her estimated first week number, there's been a lot of talk about her 2nd week fall.
I'm glad that Madonna and now Nicki Minaj will do well. The only albums selling in 2012 have been catalog Whitney albums and a 2010 Adele album.

^No. Since HITS announced her estimated first week number, there's been a lot of talk about her 2nd week fall. Right... chart watchers are speculating on how it will chart. It's obvious that Madonna won't be able to claim a second week at #1 for a multitude of reasons. I don't see why it's offensive if chart watchers want to predict and analyse what will happen.

Yeah, what's wrong with chart discussion and speculation? Is anything permissible to talk about without someone coming to the defensive? Not everything has to be taken personally.

Madonna stans seem to want to have their cake and eat it too. Any major artist using uncommon promo techniques will general healthy discussion. Nobody is passing out haterade just because it is Madonna. Gaga generated discussion. The Eagles/Britney generated discussion and so on and so on. This conversation has only become circular because stans seem to want to respond to and defend against any comment they think is negative.

A sale is a sale as long as it is in Billboard rules. Why not celebrate a women for a #1 in this age of ageism and sexism?

Don't pretend statistical data is a conspiracy theory to hate on your favorite Pop star.

I'm not pretending anything. I'm simply voicing my opinion regardless of favorite pop star.

When Adele has spent half of the past year at #1 and Bruce Springsteen just scored another #1 album, I don't think we are dealing with sexism and ageism at the top of the albums chart.

I'm not pretending anything. I'm simply voicing my opinion regardless of favorite pop star. No, someone asked a question about the charts. You tried to turn it around and get people to "celebrate" your favorite singer in this thread. This topic isn't about that- it's about the entire chart. Madonna has her own topic in the Artist section. You already know this though :)

I agree what you are saying, but what my opinion is that as long as it is in the rules, should we diminish that?

I agree what you are saying, but what my opinion is that as long as it is in the rules, should we deminish that? But the quote you quoted didn't mention anything about changing the rules. It simply asked for a breakdown of sales.

Why not? It is just a different way of looking at it
Madonna will still finish at #1 this week
Analyzing it in a less than flattering way does not change or diminsh that and should not be taken personally.
