Will Gotye get #1 this week? His updates are down a bit from the +4.0 updates of a week ago but fun. is starting to drop, just a bit. He still has a lot of ground to gain at CHR and HAC, and even Rhythmic if they keep going.

Just listened to 2 songs the first time today: Scream and Blown Away. Really hope Scream could keep well on this battle with WHYB, both are amazing. And Blown Away needs to be the 2nd single soon. It's so much better than Good Girl.

I think he has a better shot than fun. did, though. He has the advantage of rhythmic jumping on board quicker. fun. has peaked on Pop and HAC (or at least is close to peaking), but just now breaking top 20 on Rhythmic. Gotye is still gaining on Pop and HAC, and is also just now top 20 on Rhythmic. Plus he has a little extra AI from AAA and Alternative. He very well could do it  |

Big airplay at Hot AC can bring a good 20m+ in audience, so it's not like it's one of the lower-listened-to formats. The bottom of any format doesn't bring huge audience numbers.
I like "Call Me Maybe" and its bubblegum/retro sound.

As someone who went through the hip-hop tsunami of the 2000's, I am still stunned that there has not been a genuine 'R&B Hip Hop Songs' smash that has crowned the Hot 100 since "Black & Yellow" 15 months ago.
More telling is a peak at Hot 100 airplay where 7 of the top 10 radio songs are pop acts and the rap tracks are songs like "Starships" and "Wild Ones" that are being rejected at r&b radio. Further proof that if you don't like a musical era, just wait till it's inevitably over.

It looks like it still has the potential to gain... 15m on Pop 5m on Hot AC 10m+ on Rhythmic 10m+ on AC Granted AC radio will probably be slow to play the song as they are with all songs, but even just with the first three formats, it could get another 30m AI. It does obviously also depend on how long the song can hold up on Alternative and Triple A, but I don't think 200m is out of the question. |

Just because it has potential to grow on those formats doesn't mean it will.
I could see it possibly doing so on Pop and AC, but I dont see it gaining that much more on Rhythmic. I also see it peaking around the same vicinity as Fun.

Yikes, I guess Rumor Has It peaked? It's lost it's bullet at pop, so most likely it won't go any higher. Still did really good, I always knew it wasn't going to be as big as the last 3 singles which had universal appeal. Not sure if they will bother with a 5th single, but I'd love Turning Tables released  |
