www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news09004LOOK WHO'S BACK ON TOP Adele Returns to #1 thanks to NBC Special; Alan Jackson, Beach Boys, Curren$y, Big K.R.I.T. Bow June 6, 2012 With the impact of her NBC special this past Sunday now clear, it looks as though Adele will score another week at #1, her 24th, tying the record for fourth longest run on top of the album charts with the Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever soundtracks. West Side Story holds the record for most weeks at #1 with 54, with Michael Jackson's Thriller #2 at 37 weeks. Tied for third place are Fleetwood Mac's Rumours, Harry Belafonte's Calypso and South Pacific, all with 31 weeks. Alan Jackson's 30 Miles West, his Capitol Nashville/EMI bow after many years with Arista Nashville, looks to be the top-charting debut, with between 65-70k, based on one-day reports from whatever retailers haven't paved paradise and put up a parking lot. The Beach Boys' Capitol/EMI comeback, That's Why God Made the Radio, is the next highest new entry with 60-65k. Warner Bros. rapper Curren$y's The Stoned Immaculate, featuring Wiz Khalifa, Wale, 2 Chainz and Big K.R.I.T., remarkably, his eighth album since 2009, is on target for 40-45k, the same amount for Def Jam/IDJ hip-hop artist Big K.R.I.T.'s highly anticipated debut, Live from the Underground. Columbia singer-songwriter Brandi Carlile's Bear Creek looks to be in the 25-30k range, the same as Reprise legend Neil Young & Crazy Horse's collection of folk standards like "Oh! Susanna" and "This Land Is Your Land," Americana. Fantasy/Concord Music Group's Joe Walsh is looking at sales between 19-22k for his solo effort, Analog Man. WaterTower's soundtrack for the upcoming '80s hair-metal homage, Rock of Ages, starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin and Russell Brand, is eyeing between 12-15k, the same total predicted for Columbia's Victorious, the cast album from the hit Nickelodeon series. Album sales were down 5% vs. last week, down 9% vs. same week last year and down 3% year to date. Track sales were down 2% vs. last week, up 6% vs. same week last year and up 7% year to date. TEA sales were down 4% vs. last week, down 5% vs. same week last year and flat year to date.

^ There will never be estimates for anyone whose fans say "guesstimates."
Surprised and thrilled to see Brandi outdoing the opening week for her last album! She's really built herself a fanbase :)

If this holds & it looks like it will this time:
Purple Rain Saturday Night Fever 21
All 24 weeks at #1
In terms of non-Soundtracks, only 3 albums with longer runs: Thriller, Calypso, Rumours
(Purple Rain and Saturday Night Fever are certified much higher due to the eras in which they were released)

Wow, so Adele is gonna have a big increase this week since they think Alan Jackson isn't a contender for #1.

I really hope this is the last Adele #1 week. Anyone know who's releasing next week?

Hmm, no estimates for Jana Kramer's country debut? The lead single is top 20 and selling quite well on iTunes. I was expecting at least 20-25k for her..

Jana is currently #7 on iTunes. She should debut Top 20.

Yes hopefully 100k+ is doable for Adele this week, may be her last chance to top that weekly figure.

Curious to see if Carrie has a respectable increase with thanks to the CMT Music Awards and CMA Festival this week. Plus, she's got a lot of press going for her this week now that she scored her 15th #1 with Good Girl.

Nice last gasp to tie Prince and SNF soundtrack. I know we shouldn't count Adele out, but I think this will be her last time at #1. Too many big releases coming this summer, and by the time it's done, the Adele buzz will have begun dissipating. Very excited for this though!

Adele's '21' Going For 24th Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200
June 06, 2012 | By Keith Caulfield, Los Angeles
That Adele reign just won't stop. The diva's "21" album could return to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week, according to industry sources. Those in the know suggest the set will sell over 70,000 copies by week's end on June 10 -- enough to secure the top slot.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of June 13.
If "21" returns to No. 1, it will mark the longest run at No. 1 since Prince and the Revolution's "Purple Rain" soundtrack also spent 24 weeks at the top in 1984 and 1985. Additionally, "21" would become one of only eight albums to rack up six months atop the list.
Sales are up a bit for "21" this week thanks to NBC's hour-long prime time special, "Adele Live In London," which aired on the night of June 3.
The highest debut next week will likely come from country king Alan Jackson with his "30 Miles West" album. It may sell in the range of 60,000 to 70,000. His last studio effort, 2010's "Freight Train," rolled in at No. 7 with 72,000 sold in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The Beach Boys' new "That's Why God Made the Radio" will perhaps give the legendary act its highest debut ever and first top 10 album since 1976. The album is on course for a start in the range of 60,000 to 65,000 and should easily become the group's first top 10 since 1976's "15 Big Ones" hit No. 8.
Other albums due to make notable debuts next week include Curren$y's "Stoned Immaculate," Big K.R.I.T.'s "Live From the Underground" and Brandi Carlile's "Bear Creek."

Billboard tends to be a bit conservative with there one-day sales projections, hopefully Adele gets even higher than that

Could 21 get such a boost from one tv special which helped her already this week a bit (according to Billboard)?
75k would mean +30%. It's not impossible but it can also be quite close between her and Alan Jackson.

If it was going to be close with Alan Jackson the headlines would be "Adele and Alan Jackson in battle for #1" -- I think they are calling it accurately right now.
So odd how all these albums stopped at 24 weeks at #1. You'd think there'd be a little more of a spread. It'd be nice if Adele managed one more week down the line just to break the tie, but I agree it's unlikely.

Odd prediction numbers for Adele (and Alan) but I'll take it:
Adele should land her 24th non-consecutive week at #1, though she will be moved by weight or force in a certain direction or into a certain position by Country star Alan Jackson’s Capitol Nashville debut, while nearly half of the Top 15 is made up of new releases. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
Adele (XL/Columbia) 73-78k *Alan Jackson (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 68-73k *Beach Boys (Capitol/EMI) 60-65k *Big K.R.I.T. (Def Jam/IDJ) 40-45k John Mayer (Columbia) 40-45k *Curren$y (Warner Bros.) 40-45k One Direction (Syco/Columbia) 40-45k *Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Reprise) 28-32k Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 27-30k *Brandi Carlile (Columbia) 27-30k Now 42 (Capitol/EMI) 24-27k Luke Bryan (Capitol Nashville/EMI) 21-24k Lionel Richie (Mercury Nashville) 19-22k *Joe Walsh (Fantasy) 19-22k Gotye (Fairfax/Universal Republic) 18-21k
*Debuts (6/7p)
