I still keep hearing "penis."
I like it. DWUW is obviously a better single choice, but I don't hate the idea of this being a single at some point. I'll reserve judgment till I hear the rest of the album.
I have no idea where the whole "Gaga wanted Venus, Interscope wanted DWUW" argument came from. Seems to be little more than fan speculation. For all we know, the label was legitimately torn on what the 2nd single should be and decided DWUW was the safer choice based on fan and critic reaction. And Gaga may very well have agreed. Either way, it looks like a smart decision and all songs thus far have got me really excited for ARTPOP.

Why does she have a baby lobster on her face? Its a scorpion and I was wondering the same thing. Venus is linked to Libra (the scales), not Scorpio.

Yeah...I actually like Venus...as an album track but it's not a bad song. Can't believe the album is out in a few weeks.

Why does she have a baby lobster on her face? It's a scorpion. Look: Gaga posted this picture of Marina Abramović confirming that it's inspired by her.

This really is a hilariously similar situation to Judas/TEOG; one that they've clearly learnt from.

A bit messy, but I think the main reason is that they had like 5 ?or 6? days to put DWUW in this.

She went and hugged Sharon Osbourne when she finished singing. I thought they were at odds though? Wonder what happened.

Apparently they met up beforehand and talked it out. Interesting if so since Kelly has been whining non-stop about Gaga still. It was a messy performance, but not bad for the first live performance of both and they probably had to scramble to throw DWUW in there. She looks like she is having fun onstage.

The Venus part of that performance was perfection, I hope it becomes a single so we can see it live more. Dwyw live is bleh, the piano thing didn't work for me but her voice sounded great

I agree, a bit messy, but still entertaining as always. I hope she'll do a finer-tuned big performance this era.

Venus was pretty good. DWUW wasn't particularly boring -- rather uneventful -- considering it's an up-tempo, and she sounded great. She should have done a piano version if she didn't have the time to practice for a proper performance since she always nails those. And I loved her XF intro.

I may be in the minority here but I loved the DWYW part of the performance over Venus. Venus did seem a little messy but the simplicity of the later was wonderful and raw. I thought that was what set DWYW apart. I loved that it was just her as well.
Venus love sounds more of a pop smash than it does in the studio version. Loved the live production.

Venus was good, DWUW was a little messy but it was obvious that it was a last minute addition.

I hope she does not release the Venus video until the actual song is released as a single so she's not wasting streaming points

"Venus" on iTunes now. Don't buy until midnight. #1 in 47 countries so far.

That performace really accentuates the self parody aspect of Venus. It's also clear that she personally prefers it considering how she went on and on about it compared to DWUW, which is her actual single.

Well let's see how Venus does on iTunes in the next 48 hrs I wouldn't be surprised if they switch back if the sales data tells them to
Do I need to wait for midnight pacific time if I'm pacific time?

Well she basically created the entire song herself, so what do you expect? Makes sense she'd want to brag about it.

i love all of the ARTPOP tracks i heard so far. plus, even if this era won't go multiplatinum, she sure showed her vocal abilities.
one thing that will annoy me by the end of this album cycle is her incorporation of "performance art" into her "performances". other than that, bring on nov. 11!

I like Venus more than Do What U Want. I don't get why some say it shouldn't be a single at all. The chorus is heaven and the 'non-accessible' lyrics work in its favor because of their ridiculousness. Plus, Venus is the main theme of this whole album campaign from photoshoots to videos to performances to references in the songs themselves. I'd love it if it was the final single with an extraordinary, crazy, over-the-top video.
