I like Venus more than Do What U Want. I don't get why some say it shouldn't be a single at all. The chorus is heaven and the 'non-accessible' lyrics work in its favor because of their ridiculousness. Plus, Venus is the main theme of this whole album campaign from photoshoots to videos to performances to references in the songs themselves. I'd love it if it was the final single with an extraordinary, crazy, over-the-top video. I totally agree. Though we haven't heard the album in it's entirety, I would love this as the final single. I think that would work. Wouldn't risk screwing with any "momentum" and it seems like DWUW will do well and there could be a hit in "Gypsy" and maybe "G.U.Y."? And she did say it still is getting its own video. |

Venus lyrics are actually very relatable much more so than applause. Everyone loves venises and no one is gonna mistake this for an astronomy song

It's ok. Applause remains the best so far for me. I'm absolutely going to still buy the album, but I think BTW is a much better album so far. I'm sure it will all grow on me tho.

God I am going to adore this cd. I love all of the production, beats and it has some of the catchiest hooks I have ever heard from her. Thank God for Gaga making music.
It is funny that when I just had Applause I was worried the cd would suck.

This is going to be a grower for me but I do like it. Reminds me a lot of Bloody Mary. The second half of that clip is so good, very theatrical.

The clip of "Mary Jane Holland" sounds amazing! The production reminds me of the instrumental hook in Frankie Goes To Hollywood's "Relax" after the choruses. The bridge is fantastic. The 80s and early 90s vibe of the album is really cool.

I have to admit I actually really like Venus. I think doing the body song as a single instead was a smart choice... since that song slows everything down a bit and isn't as busy....however I could still see this being a single down the road.

So Donatella and Fashion are now the only songs we haven't heard in some form from the album.
MJH actually has a really strong hook under all that production and weird lyrics.
