It was about the only article on the site that drew any sort of comparison between sales of BTW and ARTPOP. There was nothing negative in this article, but if she was going to be upset about something, then it is either that they called out the semi-disappointing sales or that they called out that she was complaining about people criticizing her.
Every other article on the site covered the following topics:
-Huge headline that stated she was #1 (separate from the article above) -placed her Bad Romance performance at the AMAs as the #3 performance of all time -an article about her top 100 looks -article about how she was the #2 earner in Pop Music this year (behind only Madonna) -article about how she is playing the 4 closing dates at Roseland in NYC
So clearly, they have given her a ton of play and nothing was negative. So I am just trying to look for the spin here on what she could possible have been complaining about.

They drew attention to her rant in a way that could have been interpreted as fuelling the fire. The first 3 paragraphs are about her Tweets and while they're neutral, maybe she saw it as contributing more to the problem than helping it.
If this was the article she took issue with, I don't think she should have because it's a rather neutral article all around but if it was this one, it doesn't say anything about her being angry over chart stats, as you said.
I'm thinking that it wasn't necessarily this article she has an issue with but rather she chose to respond to it when they reported about her rant. As if to say "it's not like you guys are completely innocent either."

No, sorry, I didn't mean to imply they were saying she was specifically angry about chart stats. I am saying the fact that they called out her chart stats at all and comparing them between BTW and Artpop may have pissed her off leading to her tweet.
I just think she should be careful about biting the hand that feeds her. Billboard has given her the best reviews and has given her PLENTY of good press during this era. She should be careful considering it is the industry bible.

Maybe she was pissed off about this article on billboard.com, though if she was pissed about this, then it shows she is all about the commercial performance and NOT about her "art" I think that's been clear since that pathetic Applause video youtube loop.

I don't think so. I mean, yes, she obviously does care about chart stats and her own commercial appeal, but that doesn't mean that she isn't invested in her art, as well. With Gaga, it isn't an "either-or" situation.

And I was saying not necessarily since there was more to the article than the chart stats. She was probably calling them out for previous stories - which I don't know why she'd do now.

^^ I have a different take on all of this than I think most folks who have been discussing this. I think it would be reasonable to say that the "bigger" one's celebrity is, the "bigger" is the magnifying glass on their work. Further, I think it is impossible to argue that Gaga looks for attention and commentary more than most pop stars, simply based on her intentionally outlandish costumes, highly sexualized images in videos and performances over the years, etc. What I find disturbing and frankly embarrassing for a star of her calibre is that despite her intentional attention-seeking behaviour, she is upset when she receives criticism rather than applause (no pun intended), as if she really does 'live for the applause'. For a 27 year old artist, now in her fourth album cycle, her attitude seems surprisingly green and superficial. For example, I think it would be equally ridiculous if Miley Cyrus stated the same thing after negative reviews or criticism because she, too, goes out of her away to seek attention but seems to own that much better than Gaga, many years older than her. Finally, as many have mentioned, her specific barbs toward Billboard and her own "Gaga falls" themes which she overly references merely solidifies my belief that she views her work as this magnificent piece of art which should be selling like hotcakes (or at least wants you to believe that her work is so grand). It is this Kanye-esque tunnel-vision and self-absorbed mentality which concerns me about her career longevity and her own perception of security in the business.
BTW, did Gaga/her team delete the tweet to Billboard about her belief that they "should support music, period" ?

She is human and she does have a right to her opinion, but no matter what you do in the spotlight, damned if you do, damned if you don't. I don't think any member of Pulse has been under such an intense microscope or scrutiny as these artists and celebrities do with the media and public dissecting every single thing they do.
I don't think there's a problem with Gaga responding to her critics. It can be difficult when thousands are publicly critiquing you and you don't respond. While I don't think it's healthy to read every single thing people write about you, there comes a time where enough is enough.

I don't think her tweet regarding billboard was necessarily about things they had said about her specifically, but more so music artists in general perhaps. At least that's what I got from it in context to her other tweets. Just sayin.

This is the beginning of her media-sanctioned breakdown, and of course everybody is falling for it. They always do.

I think she's struggling to come to terms with that face she's no longer the 'it' girl. 'The Fame' and 'The Fame: Monster' were such high points she must be feeling she's fighting an uphill battle. Those kind of highs happen once in a career and unfortunately she's likely on a decline, that doesn't mean she can't be a global star, which she needs to remember.
The reason those eras worked so well was because the music was accessible, the outfits were crazy but the music was still very much mainstream. This time she seems to have tried to remain mainstream but also putting arty references in here and there, all good and well but you can't appeal to everyone by doing so. I love the album and think there's some very good POP music, but she needs to market it as that, and NOT 'art' that's the main problem.

I understand that she's hurt, I guess; but she really should have known better. Additionally, it's just not very professional to lash out like she did over twitter.
I don't think it's that big of a deal honestly, but she needs to regain her composure as an artist and a celebrity.

I like how everyone assumes she's having a meltdown just because of 2 tweets. She'll be fine.

I like how everyone assumes she's having a meltdown just because of 2 tweets. She'll be fine. She has had more issues than these two tweets over the years, IMO. I think her issues are far greater than a few tweets for the reasons I have mentioned, which I find unfortunate for an artist of her star-power, influence, and talent. The resurfacing of those behaviours after months of great performances and interviews are disappointment as someone who has been following her career from afar and now, more closely.

She's said plenty of times throughout her career that she's insecure, and I guess its starting to show since she's getting more flack this era than she ever has. She does get a lot of unfair criticism, but I guess she should just learn to brush it off. Hopefully she gets a thicker skin from this and is able to ignore this stuff in the future, and just focus on her craft.

She does need to suck it up a bit and deal with it. Look how much crap they give Madonna...almost every single article about her starts off with her age. Not to mention all the comments and detractors who just call her old and any other vile name in the book, simply because she exists. yet, she keeps doing her thing and rarely ever publicly complains about it.

I think the true test of her popularity (or whatever you wanna call it) will be the tour. will she still be able to do a huge arena tour and sell it out?

I think she will too. But if for some reason she doesn't sell out and the numbers are bad.... then I think that will spell trouble (more so than the album not selling as much as some people think it should have)

The numbers were bad last time. Wasn't she doing a "buy one get one free" over in Europe because sales were so bad?
