Bitch is mad I mean her lashing out at BB was completely uncalled for an unnecessary. Billboard only reports facts, they are not a gossip magazine. She needs to grow the f**k up and move on from caring about what people say, write or post about her They are definitely not just about facts. Have you ever even gone to their site?

Lady Gaga @ladygaga billboard you're included actually. In todays industry, u should be supportive of music period. Why target a passionate + dedicated artist? Can someone explain? What did Billboard say? Billboard said she sold 258k.

Looks like she might have some type of a melt down. It must be very hard to fall from the top like that.

She really is not cut out for the music industry... I mean she is selling in the same ballpark with the other big ladies and its just that she is not the flavor of the month anymore. You have to be able to understand that the goal should be to have a solid career to settle in and still be talked about and she is in that spot if it werent for her annoying reaction to everything. She has a solid performing opening single and what looks like another hit on the way and the album opened to ok numbers.
All this panic over nothing really!

Yeah, that tweet is a little worrying. Seems a little unstable. Here's hoping the craziness doesn't soon become more than an act.

I just don't like how she says "it's more fun to point and laugh than appreciate the artist". Well maybe if you didn't act and dress so ridiculously. She's practically inviting people to say stuff about her when she does stupid sh*t. She's just being honest. Look at what people do on the internet all across the world, they comment on Yahoo and CNN articles, Youtube videos, and send tweets with vulgar stuff, 90% of the time not even knowing what they're talking about. It really is more fun to add fuel to someone's fire of hatred and ignorance than it is to actually listen to someone's piece of work. It has nothing to do with how she dresses. Mariah gets dragged for being a bitch, fat, and a diva which is disgusting, because none of those things have anything to do with her artistry. It's more fun to make fun of somebody than recognize what they're actually contributing to the world. I completely understand that. But maybe Gaga should look at herself and realize that not everything she does is "artistry" and some of it is just stupid stuff that she CLEARLY does only to get people talking. So you can't just be hypocritical about it when the stuff they're saying isn't positive.

She needs to grow a thicker skin. Otherwise it's pretty much a race between the industry destroying her or her destroying herself.

Can someone explain? What did Billboard say? Billboard said she sold 258k. Were you being facetious or serious about why she was upset with Billboard....I'm completely confused. I just read the Billboard article here and here and listened to that Billboard soundcloud but did not notice anything disrespectful. Am I missing something ? ETA: Did she delete her Billboard tweet ?

Wow she is really losing it. I go back and forth with her...there are times when she comes across articulate and insightful like during the Howard Stern interview and then she gets crazy like this. What did Billboard say about her?
Like I posted a few weeks ago in this thread, I knew the first week sales would be bad news for her because no matter how well she did it was going to look worse because of the 99 cents deal for Born This Way. It wasn't really worth it in the end.
MESS.

The tweet to Billboard really surprised me. They gave her album a better rating than Katy and Avril, they post a lot of great articles about her upcoming projects, events, etc., they have a list of her 100 Outrageous Outfits on the main page, 2 of their editors Jason and Keith made a podcast about her sales and explaining why her sales amounts are still very respectable.. I don't get it! I guess it's because they made an article about her tweeting about public hate but to tweet them that? I'm a die hard monster, have been since the very beginning, but I'm just a little saddened because they really haven't shaded her and treated her badly. I don't blame her for the first tweet, but not the one aimed at Billboard.
I think the mega scrutiny on her career/success is starting to make her crack. :(

She needs to grow the f**k up and move on from caring about what people say, write or post about her They are definitely not just about facts. Have you ever even gone to their site? They definitely aren't just about facts. Who would want to buy a magazine with facts though? If people want facts, look at the charts online and leave it at that. If people want music articles/interviews/educated predictions/commentary written by journalists, I'd sure hope there would be some shards of opinion mixed into the writing. Criticism is not a bad thing. Being neutral is a bad thing. If she honestly thinks she's a scapegoat, it's the most incredible example of narcissism I have ever seen. EVERY artist deals with the same s**t she does. If she wants to be all about the music like she says she is, then make music for the sake of music and don't pay attention to people that have a negative opinion. Like if she honestly believes people should sit there and soak up everything every big artist puts out, that's ridiculous. No matter what you do as a big name, it's always going to come with unfavorable opinions. Ironically, Billboard didn't even present any negativity so they must have not praised her enough. You just have to do what you want, and let the people that support you enjoy it. She has a team of 25+ people around her. Has nobody ever had this talk with her? She has the #1 album in the country and 2 songs in the Top 20 on iTunes. Glass is beyond half full.

So, I'm gathering that no one has a clear explanation for her tweet against Billboard, no ? I have never been a fan of her music, save a few songs, but have had a great deal of respect for her uniqueness, risk-taking, and message as she performs her own "art". That being said, I have always believed that since she was catapulted to the immense fame as being the world's biggest Pop Star, she has suffered from delusions of grandeur and narcissism. Her embarrassing behaviour over the past few years from public drunkness and messiness (for example her recent twitter-war with Perez Hilton) have wreaked of attention-seeking behaviour to pad her own insecurity while trying to remain culturally "relevant".
Although I dislike most all of 'ArtPop', I have followed her closely this era and have quite enjoyed her interviews to date, including the Graham Norton one and especially the great 1.5+ hour Howard Stern one mostly because of her honestly over her past, victory over drugs/alcohol, and revelation of her interests behind her public "positions". I absolutely loved her SNL performance, but I must admit that I am disappointed with tweets like those today, for which I am hopeful that there is some explanation, since I do not want to believe that she has returned to that egotistical, delusional mindset she had over the previous era. IF she has issues with criticisms over the quality or any aspect of her new record or over discussion of her drop in sales, I strongly feel that she needs to re-evaluate where she wants her 5 year old career to be over the next 5 years. Clearly, her fascination with fame and equally interesting obsession over the "fall of Gaga" themes in her videos, the SNL skit, etc. suggest to me that her confidence in her place in the music industry is wavering, for which she is having significant issues with acceptance. I will say the same thing I did during the Perez Hilton mess: she could significantly benefit from staying off Twitter !
Thoughts ?

Could this possibly be a way to generate some press for the release of the video (one whose song has to do with media scrutiny, mind you)?

Thoughts ? Are you using the tweets as examples of that or...? The tweets do seem a bit worrisome but, unless I missed something, it seems like she's just invested in her craft. Something you say you admire about her. What she said is true, she gets an unusual amount of hate and it's not all about the music. She brings it on herself by having such an outrageous "celebrity" but I see her tweets more as being hurt than "narcissism". As for the BB tweet, I agree with the person who said she isn't cut out for stardom. She just doesn't know how to take criticism without feeling victimized. But part of me does agree with her. Whether you like the music or not, reviewers shouldn't tear an artist down and most of them do. I especially don't get the negative reviews for this album.

While most artists deal with scrutiny and public criticism, Gaga has been getting a LOT more than what would be considered normal. I can see why it would be extremely frustrating. There's barely a good word said about her and up until the SNL performance, it was pretty much all bad.
I also don't know why she lashed out at Billboard, but I also agree that she shouldn't tweet those tweets since she has made several attempts at using that criticism in her work. It looked like she was dealing with it well but then she turns around and makes those tweets so it definitely is confusing. I think she's probably trying to call attention to media's habit of focusing more on the bad and the criticism and gossip than the positive but it's coming across as personal rather than constructive. She's made her opinion known about the critics before so she should drop it unless it pops up as part of a performance or something.

Maybe she was pissed off about this article on billboard.com, though if she was pissed about this, then it shows she is all about the commercial performance and NOT about her "art"
Lady Gaga Lashes Out At 'Overflow Of Hate' On Social Media
"Maybe thats what entertainment is now. It's more fun to point & laugh than appreciate the artist," Gaga posts on Twitter.
Lady Gaga just scored her second No. 1 album, "ARTPOP," which debuted atop this week's Billboard 200 chart. However, the pop superstar has taken to social media to express disappointment toward those who have met her latest achievements with an "overflow of hate."
"I put so much love into my music, into my shows, I make it all for you. I'll never understand the overflow of hate sent my way," Gaga posted on her Twitter and Facebook on Wednesday afternoon (Nov. 20), hours after "ARTPOP" was crowned the No. 1 album in the country. "Or maybe thats what entertainment is now. It's more fun to point & laugh than appreciate the artist. I'll keep rehearsing my steps #showbiz"
While "ARTPOP" debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart with 258,000 copies sold in its first week according to Nielsen SoundScan, her previous full-length, "Born This Way," started with 1.1 million copies sold in its first week. That number was amplified by a temporary 99-cent sale deal by Amazon MP3 in 2011. "ARTPOP's" debut is the third-biggest debut sales week for a female artist this year, after Katy Perry's "PRISM" (286,000 copies sold) and Miley Cyrus' "Bangerz" (270,000 sold).
Gaga has promoted her new music on "Saturday Night Live," at the MTV Video Music Awards and on the U.K. "X Factor," among many other platforms. A performance on the 2013 American Music Awards and another tour are still to come.
"Applause," "ARTPOP's" lead single, rises one spot to No. 9 on this week's Hot 100 chart, while her R. Kelly collaboration "Do What U Want" rockets 30 spots to No. 18 on the tally after the pair performed the song on "SNL" last weekend.
