^ Agreed. It's still one of my favorites on the album but it sounds too busy.

Selena Gomez is at 700k ww with Stars Dance, and I'd include Lana Del Rey because she's slaying all the above in ww sales to-date, but it was not a 2013 release.
Meanwhile 'Applause' is now over 2 million sold in America and 4 million ww, and DWUW is approaching 1 million with no video release yet. I mean she's not killing the game, but she's holding her own with the other poplets.

I am a superfan, so I hope no superfans take this the wrong way, but I'm glad everything is panning out the way it is with ARTPOP. She needed to have "less than stellar" (and I quote the public, not my opinion) sales to get her off of this ridiculous pedestal of expectations the world has put her on. Going forward, her sales aren't going to be scrutinized as much as they were with this project, and hopefully will not be compared to Born This Way's opening numbers. I'll be very happy if ARTPOP can hit platinum in the US. She's always going to be a force to be reckoned with, and I think her career is going to have surges with future albums, but once you "flop" (again, quoting the public), it seems the public is less likely to keep trying to tear you down album after album.

If someone wants to belittle an artist that person will always find a way whatever and how she does. I agree with you, the performance of this album era was needed after Born This Way and the high expectation for everything she's involved in. She should also tone down the persona she shows off - because everyone who know her a bit more knows that she's a humble down-to-earth person in private life -, but that has been discussed to death.

I feel like ARTPOP is vocally her best album. Before her voice was always kind of drowned out by the production, but on this album she worked on the vocal productions. She's harmonizing, adlibbing and using background vocals to create different layers in the songs. I like this.
Gaga is easily the best singer out of all the Pop gerls. I hope she continues to grow vocally.

Her opening sales are always going to be compared to Born This Way and they are always going to talk about the Amazon sale.

I know I am in the minority when I say this, but 'Mary Jane Holland' is still f**king amazing! I should stop playing & have @yonkab's sugar daddy pay for my concert ticket. My car is molesting my bank account atm As far as this era goes, maybe she needs a "less stellar" era for her to fully regroup & re-evaluate. She is truly a special artist I do not want to struggle to get her points across. Pop music really needs her existence.

Sexx Dreams and Eletric Chapel are IMO her best songs.

I love Mary Jane Holland. It is actually surprisingly clever the more I listen to the actual lyrics. Sales are also not that bad especially since we are still in the run for the second single. However, things feel like a hot ass mess right now so I am not sure they will keep it together for another 1-3 singles after DWUW to help bring it to at least platinum in the US and then 2-3 million worldwide.

If I stayed closer to the city where public transportation is a lot better than where I currently stay, trust & believe I'd use that in a heartbeat. The only time my car would be in use would be for late night/far events publuc transportation couldn't take me.

Mary Jane Holland has grown on me a lot. Initially that song and Swine were the only two I did not love. I'm still not crazy about Swine.

I was thinking G.U.Y., but I just like the chorus, not the verses. I think Venus could be a candidate as well, but needs to be re-done. The song structure is confusing. It's an over-produced mess.

I was thinking G.U.Y., but I just like the chorus, not the verses. I'm the opposite especially with G.U.Y. and Sexxx Dreams. The verses give me life but the chorus is a bit of a letdown; the production in G.U.Y is still great in the chorus though.

In a perfect world 'Sexxx Dreams' and 'G.U.Y' would be the third and fourth singles. That said, I'm sure she'll end up releasing something off the wall, like 'Swine'.

I don't think so, "Swine" falls into the not so radio friendly, fan-favorite category including "Heavy Metal Lover", "Government Hooker", and "Scheiße." I love treasuring them aside other fans. They're too perfect for the general public!

I go back and forth on Sexx Dreams and GUY and see why both should or could be a single. My dream era would still have GUY OR Sexx Dreams, Gypsy, and Venus released (with Venus possibly just being a video single).

If DWUW has struggled in sales, GUY or Sex Dreams will be huge flops. Gypsy is the only smart choice next.

It could be me, but I think people are seriously underestimating the power of "MANiCURE".
