I hope Ellie hits the H100 top ten this week. outside shot for Guetta/Sia as well? I think Ellie will finally climb into the top 10 this week! Boyfriend will fall out and I think Wild Ones should too. Did someone ever list what the last song was to take so long to hit the top 10?

The top track sold 263k. Is that relatively low when compared to the past several months?

Boyfriend will fall out and I think Wild Ones should too. Did someone ever list what the last song was to take so long to hit the top 10? I don't think anyone had that info when I asked last time. Which makes me wonder if Ellie might break a record? Some long-climbs to the top ten I can think of: Jason Mraz "I'm Yours" 20 weeks Pink "U + Ur Hand" 17 weeks Adele "Set Fire to the Rain" 17 weeks Lady Gaga "Just Dance" 16 weeks There are some 90s songs that seem like contenders for the slow climb (How Do I Live, You Were Meant For Me) but I don't know how to find that out for these older songs which aren't on acharts.us

I seem to remember Before He Cheats hit the top ten after a very long time. I am guessing that's the one to beat.
Macarena might be a contender too, though it's climb combines two chart runs.
I use umdmusic.com, but don't have the energy to check on these. :)

Usher, Ellie Goulding Hit Hot 100's Top 10; Carly Rae Jepsen Still No. 1by Gary Trust, N.Y. | Juni 27, 2012 1:15 EDT lol we're not in Germany, Gary Ellie Goulding's "Lights" and Usher's "Scream" elevate to the Billboard Hot 100's top 10, while Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" rules the ranking for a third week. As "Lights" brightens the top 10, the song grants Goulding a Hot 100 record. The song rises 12-6 in its 27th week on the Hot 100, completing the longest ascent to the region in the chart's 54-year history for a song by a female that was not aided by crossover airplay from country to pop radio. It's the 13th-longest journey to the top 10 overall and the longest by any song since Shinedown's "Second Chance" also took 27 weeks to the tier in 2008-09. Carrie Underwood's "Before He Cheats" holds the longevity mark among all titles with a 38-week climb to the top 10 in 2006-07. (Crossover country songs can log lengthy rises to the Hot 100's top 10 by registering original chart runs as they climb the Country Songs airplay tally; once they eventually gain support at pop and adult radio, they can re-enter, continue scaling or rebound up the Hot 100 and reach a higher peak.) Goulding's arrival in the top 10 marks a milestone in the Herefordshire, U.K., native's steady rise to U.S. prominence. Early last year, her debut album, "Lights," reached the U.K. albums chart's top 10. In April 2011, at Prince William and Kate Middleton's request, Goulding sang her version of Elton John's "Your Song" at the couple's wedding (with John in attendance). Following buzz generated by the performance, Goulding began making multiple U.S. TV appearances, including on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." "Lights" claims the Hot 100's top Digital Gainer honor, jumping 9-5 on the Digital Songs chart with 149,000 downloads sold (up 23%) in the chart's tracking week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The track has sold 1.9 million to date. On Radio Songs, "Lights" lifts 14-12 with 56 million in all-format audience (up 16%), according to Nielsen BDS. It pushes 8-7 on On-Demand Songs with 669,000 on-demand streams (up 31%), according to BDS. Usher, meanwhile, collects his 18th Hot 100 top 10, as "Scream" bumps 11-10. The song, from last week's No. 1 album on the Billboard 200, "Looking 4 Myself," dips 10-11 on Radio Songs, although with a 5% increase to 62 million in audience. Despite also falling on On-Demand Songs (17-21), it gains by 8% to 395,000. "Scream" slips 7-8 on Digital Songs (119,000, down 3%). Dating to his first week in the Hot 100's top 10 (Sept. 6, 1997), Usher extends his mark for the most top 10s among male singers. Atop the Hot 100, Jepsen's "Maybe" maintains its reign. The cut tops Digital Songs for a sixth week (263,000, down 10%), leads On-Demand Songs for a third frame (1.1 million, up 18%) and progresses 3-2 on Radio Songs (129 million, up 3%). Jepsen's next single, "Good Time," with Owl City, was released to digital retailers yesterday and should debut on next week's Hot 100. After ranking at No. 3 for eight of its first nine weeks, rising to No. 2 the week of May 26, Maroon 5's "Payphone," featuring Wiz Khalifa, returns to its runner-up peak. The song, from the group's album "Overexposed," released yesterday, bullets at No. 3 on Radio Songs (129 million, up 9%) and On-Demand Songs (927,000, up 19%), while backtracking 2-3 on Digital Songs (218,000, down 5%). Gotye's former eight-week No. 1 "Somebody That I Used to Know," featuring Kimbra, slides 2-3 on the Hot 100, while Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" holds at No. 4 in just its fifth frame. "Awake" rises 3-2 on Digital Songs (221,000, up 12%), 11-10 on Radio Songs (65 million, up 14%) and 24-12 on On-Demand Songs (535,000, up 73%), as anticipation builds for her 3-D documentary/concert film, "Katy Perry: Part of Me," due July 5. A busy Hot 100 top five also welcomes Rihanna's "Where Have You Been," which surges 8-5 with the chart's top Airplay Gainer award. It lunges 7-4 on Radio Songs (96 million, up 17%), 22-16 on On-Demand Songs (438,000, up 36%) and 8-7 on Digital Songs (122,000, down less than 1%). The advance bodes well for Rihanna: when she reaches the Hot 100's top five, she usually continues on to No. 1; eleven of her prior 14 top five hits have gone on to No. 1, including her last five. Rounding out the Hot 100's top 10 between "Lights" at No. 6 and "Scream" at No. 10, fun.'s former six-week No. 1 "We Are Young," featuring Janelle Monae, drops 5-7, followed by Nicki Minaj's "Starships" (7-8) and One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" (6-9). Check billboard.com tomorrow (June 28), when all rankings, including the Hot 100 and On-Demand Songs in their entirety and Digital Songs and Radio Songs, will be refreshed, as they are each Thursday.

Yes!!!!! :'(
Gonna be stuck there for a while though.
Looks like Payphone has a really good chance of going #1 next week.

Awesome week for Lights! Though looking at the top 5, it looks like it won't be rising higher than #6 for a while. Unless Wide Awake or Where Have You Been seriously falter, Lights will have to wait for Gotye to fall.
The good news is that nothing below poses too much of a threat. It looks like Lights could have an extended stay at #6, which seems to fit with the pattern of this song taking forever to catch on.

The Black Eyed Peas' 2009 smash "I Gotta Feeling" this week becomes the first song in digital history to top the 8 million sales mark in U.S. sales. To find the last song that has sold 8 million or more copies in the U.S. you have to go back to the pre-digital era for Elton John's "Candle In The Wind 1997," which he recorded in the wake of Princess Diana's shocking death on Aug. 31, 1999. The song, which was double-listed with "Something About The Way You Look Tonight," has sold 8,839,000 physical singles, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Both of these smashes topped the Hot 100 for 14 weeks. (They are two of only seven songs to hang on to the top spot that long since 1955.) Both artists won "performance Grammys" for these songs. Elton won for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The Peas won for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
"I Gotta Feeling" was also the first song in digital history to sell 6 million copies (it reached that threshold in July 2010) and the first to sell 7 million copies (it hit that mark in March 2011).
The Peas also had the first song in digital history to sell 500K copies. "Let's Get It Started" reached that level in February 2005.
Here are the other songs that made digital history by becoming the first to reach various other thresholds. 1 million: Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" (Oct. 9, 2005). 2 million: Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" (Dec. 31, 2006). 3 million: Soldier Boy Tell 'Em's "Crank That (Soulja Boy)" (June 29, 2008). 4 million and 5 million: "Low" by Flo Rida featuring T-Pain (June 28, 2008 and June 21, 2009).
Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" logs its third week at #1 on the Hot 100, matching a monster hit of a generation ago by another Carly. I'm talking, of course, about Carly Simon's 1973 smash "You're So Vain." "Call Me Maybe" is #1 on Hot Digital Songs for the sixth week. Only one other song, "We Are Young" by fun. featuring Janelle Monae, has topped the digital chart for six or more weeks this year. ("We Are Young" had seven weeks on top.)
"Call Me Maybe" is the first song by a female lead artist to log six weeks at #1 since Adele's "Rolling In The Deep" in the spring of 2011.
"Payphone" by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa returns to #2 for a second week. (It has also spent eight weeks at #3.) "Payphone" is the second #2 hit to include the memorable phrase "stupid love song" in its lyric. It follows Kelly Clarkson's 2005 smash "Since U Been Gone."
"Payphone" also enters the Official U.K. Chart at #1. It's the first #1 hit in the U.K. for both Maroon 5 and Wiz Khalifa. Maroon 5 reached #2 with both 2007's "Makes Me Wonder" and 2011's "Moves Like Jagger." Wiz Khalifa reached #5 with 2011's "Black And Yellow."
Maroon 5's follow-up, "One More Night," is the top new entry on this week's Hot 100 at #42. (Phil Collins had a #1 hit with a song by that title in 1985.) Both this and "Payphone" are from the group's album Overexposed, which is expected to enter The Billboard 200 at #2 next week.
Rihanna's "Where Have You Been" jumps from #8 to #5. It's Rihanna's 15th top five hit. The song tops the 1 million mark in digital sales this week.
Ellie Goulding's "Lights" jumps from #12 to #6 in its 27th week on the chart. Billboard's Gary Trust notes that it's the slowest-climbing top 10 hit since Shinedown's 2009 rock ballad "Second Chance" took 27 weeks to hit the top 10. It's the 13th longest journey to the top 10 overall. The leader is Carrie Underwood's 2007 country crossover smash "Before He Cheats," which took 38 weeks to hit the top 10.
Goulding got her big break when she sang Elton John's "Your Song" at the wedding reception party for Prince William and Kate Middleton on April 29, 2011. Her recording of the song reached #2 in the U.K.
Nicki Minaj's "Starships" dips from #7 to #8 in its 19th week. It has been in the top 10 the entire time. The song this week becomes Minaj's third song to sell 3 million or more copies. It follows "Super Bass" (4,273,000) and Trey Songz's "Bottoms Up," on which she was featured (3,133,000).
Usher's "Scream" jumps from #11 to #10 in its ninth week. It's Usher's 18th top 10 hit. Usher is one of only five male R&B artists to amass so many top 10 hits. Michael Jackson leads the pack with 28 top 10 hits, followed by Stevie Wonder with 27, Prince with 19 and Marvin Gaye, also with 18. (Jackson also had a top 10 hit titled "Scream." His 1995 collaboration with Janet Jackson on a song by that title reached #5.)
"Scream" is from Usher's Looking 4 Myself album, which slips to #6 on this week's Billboard 200 after debuting at #1 last week. It's Usher's seventh consecutive album or EP to both reach the top 10 on The Billboard 200 and spawn one or more top 10 singles on the Hot 100. That's a pretty neat trick.
Here's the low-down on this week's top 10 songs.
The Top Five: Carly Rae Jepsen's "Call Me Maybe" holds at #1 for the third week in its 18th week on the chart. This is its 13th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #1 (263K)… "Payphone" by Maroon 5 featuring Wiz Khalifa returns to #2 for a second week in its 10th week on the chart. It has been in the top three the entire time. Digital sales rank: #3 (218K)… "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Gotye featuring Kimbra dips from #2 to #3 in its 25th week on the chart. This is the 17th week in the top 10 for the former #1 song. Digital sales rank: #4 (176K)… Katy Perry's "Wide Awake" holds at #4 for the second week in its fifth week on the chart. Digital sales rank: #2 (221K)…. Digital sales rank: #13 (87K)… Nicki Minaj's "Starships" dips from #7 to #8 in its 19th week on the chart. It has been in the top 10 the entire time. Digital sales rank: #10 (101K)…One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful" drops from #6 to #9 in its 19th week on the chart. This is its 13th week in the top 10. Digital sales rank: #11 (100K)…Usher's "Scream" jumps from #11 to #10 in its ninth week on the chart. It's Usher's 18th top 10 hit. (Digital sales rank: #8 (119K).
Two songs drop out of the top 10 this week: "Wild Ones" by Flo Rida featuring Sia drops from #9 to #11. Justin Bieber's "Boyfriend" drops from #10 to #18. Don't feel too bad for either act, though. Flo Rida's follow-up, "Whistle," jumps from #86 to #58 in its sixth week. Bieber enters the chart with two collabos. "Beauty And A Beat" (featuring Nicki Minaj) bows at #72. "Right Here" (featuring Drake) opens at #95.
"Titanium" by David Guetta featuring Sia jumps from #15 to #12 in its 11th week…Pitbull's "Back In Time," which reached #11, holds at #14 in its 12th week. The song tops the 1 million mark in sales this week… "Mercy" by Kanye West, Big Sean, Pusha T & 2 Chainz jumps from #19 to #15 in its 12th week…Karmin's "Brokenhearted" jumps from #18 to #17 in its 16th week. The song has climbed as high as #16.
Kenny Chesney's "Come Over" jumps from #30 to #26 in its sixth week…Eli Young Band's "Even If It Breaks Your Heart" jumps from #33 to #29 in its 15th week…fun.'s "Some Nights" jumps from #41 to #32 in its 18th week…"Let's Go" by Calvin Harris featuring Ne-Yo jumps from #44 to #35 in its seventh week.
"We Run The Night" by Havana Brown featuring Pitbull jumps from #48 to #38 in its 13th week…One Direction's "One Thing" jumps from #47 to #39 in its 13th week. (The "One Thing" the songwriters listened to when they were writing it is Backstreet Boys' "I Want It That Way.")…"No Lie" by 2 Chainz featuring Drake leaps from #58 to #40 in its seventh week.
Cher Lloyd's "Want U Back" vaults from #75 to #51 in its second week…Linkin Park's "Burn It Down" jumps from #64 to #53 in its 10th week. The song has climbed as high as #30. The band's Living Thing album is expected to enter The Billboard 200 at #1 next week…Blake Shelton's "Over" jumps from #89 to #76 in its second week.
"Amen" by Meek Mill featuring Drake and Jeremih debuts at #86. It's from the rapper's mix-tape Dreamcatchers 2…Kelly Clarkson's "Dark Side" debuts at #93. It's the third single from Clarkson's Stronger album. The first two both made the top 10…"Bangarang" by Skrillex featuring Sirah re-enters at #98. The song has climbed as high as #72. This is the song's 16th week on the chart. It's the title track from Skrillex's EP, which reached #14 on The Billboard 200…Easton Corbin's "Lovin' You Is Fun" bows at #100. (The title echoes Fleetwood Mac's 1977 hit "You Make Lovin' Fun.") The song is from Corbin's second studio album, All Over The Road, which is due Sept. 18.
Lupe Fiasco's "The Show Goes On," which reached #9 in June 2011, tops the 3 million mark in digital sales this week. It's by far his best-seller. His 2008 hit "Superstar" (featuring Matthew Santos) has sold 1,526,000 copies.
Train's "Drive By," which reached #10, tops the 2 million mark this week. It's Train's third song to reach this level. It follows "Hey, Soul Sister" (5,978,000) and "Drops Of Jupiter (Tell Me)" (2,132,000)…Katy Perry's former #1 hit "Part Of Me" also tops the 2 million mark this week.
Kip Moore's "Somethin' 'Bout A Truck," which reached #29, tops the 1 million mark this week. It's his first million-seller. Carrie Underwood's 2007 hit "So Small" also tops the 1 million mark this week. It's her 10th million-seller. Among country artists, only Taylor Swift has had more. (She's had 15.)

i remember when i was young i was writing down Casey Kasum's Top 40 when "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World" hit #3. I love that song! Remember listening to the US & UK chart show back then when it was a big hit at the same time with The Sign and 'Don't Turn Around by Ace of Base. Memories...

Scotty and Sesquipedalian ;) I wanna see the receipts. On my year-end countdown for 2011 I placed Lights at #3 and made my prediction. This beautiful, talented, goregous woman caught my attention with a brilliant cover of the Elton John classic, Your Song, and since then I have been following her career through and was thoroughly blown away when I heard Lights for the first time. Featuring an interesting use of synths, this unique pop song was something out of the ordinary and brought something different to the table. It was the sound of xylophones clanging, or some interesting kind of glass bottle. Either way, I was intrigued by its peculiar but beautiful production, accentuated by the voice of an angel. Goulding delivers an exceptional vocal performance; rather simple but flavoured by both her accent and beautiful tone. And it gets better at the chorus when the song jumps features a slight violin accompaniment that enjoys a short lived, largely unnoticed presence that actually renders the track more enjoyable to me. But even more awe-inducing are the words that come go along with the instrumental, with brilliant phrases that include: You show the lights that stop me turn to stone and In an unlocked place the only time I feel safe. And there, I find the language and arrangement of words very inspiring as a lyricist. With that I leave you to listen to the song in its entirety, which is truly an incredible piece of work by an increible artist who will one day grace the charts over here in North America! And in the 2012 predictions thread: Ellie Goulding and Lana Del Rey will both experience a major break through in the United States.
