I'm not sure if this would go in here or in YOP?, but here we go.
I'm trying to construct a list of artists whose first charting song on the Hot 100 went to #1. Here's what I have so far:
Britney Spears - ...Baby One More Time Kelly Clarkson - A Moment Like This Clay Aiken - This Is the Night Fantasia - I Believe Taylor Hicks - Do I Make You Proud Carrie Underwood - Inside Your Heaven Christina Aguilera - Genie in a Bottle Gotye - Somebody That I Used to Know Kimbra - Somebody That I Used to Know fun. - We Are Young Janelle Monáe - We Are Young Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe Fergie - London Bridge George Harrison - My Sweet Lord Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl Ke$ha - TiK ToK (or Right Round... either way) Flo Rida - Low Chris Brown - Run It! Calvin Harris - We Found Love Lauren Bennett - Party Rock Anthem GoonRock - Party Rock Anthem Ne-Yo - So Sick Afrojack - Give Me Everything Nayer - Give Me Everything Lady Gaga - Just Dance Wiz Khalifa - Black and Yellow Bruno Mars - Nothin' on You B.o.B - Nothin' on You Dev - Like a G6 The Cataracs - Like a G6 Far East Movement - Like a G6 Taio Cruz - Break Your Heart Jay Sean - Down Owl City - Fireflies Jason Derülo - Whatcha Say Alicia Keys - Fallin'
Those are just some (mainly) recent ones I could think of. What are some others?

Are we talking about an artist 1st official song from their debut album, 1st song to chart on the Hot 100, or 1st song they've released?

Oaky doke. I suppose you can add 'Crazy in Love' on there, b/c 'Work it Out' didn't chart on the Hot 100.

Spice Girls - Wannabe
IDK if Stevie Wonder will count. He had a song ('I Call It Pretty Music, But the Old People Call It the Blues') to "chart" on the Hot 100 Bubbling Under Charts (#101) before his 1st single from his debut album, ('Fingertips [Pt. 1&2]),' went #1.

I think Stevie Wonder would count. "Fingertips Part 2" was still his first Hot 100 charting single and it went to #1 in Aug 1963.
And speaking of 1963, here's 3 more in a row:
It's My Party - Lesley Gore - Jun 1, 1963 Sukiyaki - Kyu Sakomoto - Jun 15, 1963 Easier Said Than Done - The Essex - Jul 6, 1963

^The Extreme song should be "More Than Words". I had it. What you mean is "Unbelievable" should be credited to EMF. ;)

"In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans - it was also their only song to chart on the Hot 100.

Counting features as first charting? Yep! Oaky doke. I suppose you can add 'Crazy in Love' on there, b/c 'Work it Out' didn't chart on the Hot 100. I thought so too, but Beyoncé's first solo appearance on the Hot 100 was "'03 Bonnie & Clyde," which peaked "only" at #4.

Elvis Presley - Heartbreak Hotel Pre Hot 100. Personally, I think it should still count, but the thread does say specifically, Hot 100 charting songs.

Mariah's "Vision of Love" Yep. Her first 5 went to #1 on the Hot 100. Still an unmatched record.
