(shudders seeing Thomas Atkins single charting) Jason Aldean will quite likely debut in the Top Ten next week. With Clear Channel aggressively promoting this right out of the gate, he'll have decent opening-week airplay numbers to size up to his powerhouse digital numbers. I don't see him missing out. Dark Side is doing ok, it might reach top 40 which is nice after two top ten hits. The contrast between Dark Side and Stronger (#1) just makes it look like it's flopping.

Wow. I can not believe that I predicted the top 10 right. Only titanium and blow me were not right. Titanium should be one place up and blow me one place down. You're supposed to act all cocky, like you always knew you'd be pretty much spot on. ;) I did not wanted to be cocky by saying that, I'm sorry.

Yay, that means a certain other song is NOT the oldest song on the chart.

Aw, I was hoping it'd get 69 weeks.
How close is Part of Me to outlasting the other #1 debuts? I know it's already outlasted Hold It Against Me, 3 and Born This Way, but I'm not sure about Not Afraid or We R Who We R.

Last Friday Night spent 24 weeks on the Hot 100. Part Of Me is at 22.
We R Who We R only spent 20 weeks on. Not Afraid - 25.

Last Friday Night is not a #1 debut. I never said it was.... Codex originally asked how had POM lasted compared to LFN, but he later edited and deleted that part, and I didn't even notice.

not a big Rihanna fan but love Take Care. She will be like Paula Abdul in 20 years tho.
Some Nights was on sale for .25 cents at Amazon this week. So was Lights by Ellie Goulding.

can someone explain to me why Jason Aldean singles sell so much? I like him ok, but why would his new song be #1 at iTunes?? It's so weird to me.

Jason Aldean appeals to a younger audience than most other country stars. He's a lot like Luke Bryan in that way (Drunk On You also spent time in the itunes top 10). He's also coming off of a huge album and I imagine he has a lot of hype. Edit: So basically Part of Me is one of only 2 #1 debuts of the digital era that has lasted longer than 20 weeks?

Wow, so once The Motto's gone, it will be interesting to see which of Stronger, Lights, or WAY lasts the longer - all great, powerful songs. My money's on Ellie since her song peaked later than the other two.
Was there anything that caused Chasing the Sun to jump from 70-53?

^It's airplay has been increasing faster lately, but the digital gains are most likely due to being the theme song for Ice Age, which was released this week. It's featured in the credits.

still don't understand why Jason Aldean appeals to a younger crowd, but Carrie Underwood singles don't sell that well. Jason Aldean looks older, wears a hat you can't see his face. I'd think Luke Bryan would be way more appealing to a younger crowd.

Maybe the song with Kelly Clarkson has helped Aldean's popularity too?

Yes sorry, I couldn't figure out how to word it right without it looking like I thought LFN was a #1 debut so I just scrapped it. Thank you for the answers though! Wow, looks like Part of Me will have the best longevity then out of all #1 debuts... Which is kind of depressing.
