TOP 50: OCTOBER 7, 2012.

"Skinny Love" ascends to the top after debuting at #2 last week, becoming Birdy's first chart-topper and the 61st #1 hit on Slizzard's Top 50. It's the first piano and voice ballad and first cover version to reach #1, and Birdy, who is currently 16, is now the youngest artist to reach the top. Ke$ha is up from #14 to #5 with "Die Young" becoming her fifth top ten hit, following "Blah Blah Blah" (#1), "We R Who We R" (#2), "TiK ToK" (#5, though it would have reached higher if the chart had begun earlier) and "Blow" (#8). Adele also scores another top ten hit this week, with "Skyfall" entering straight in at #10. It's her fourth, following "Rolling In The Deep" (#1), "Someone Like You" (#2) and "Set Fire To The Rain" (#5). All through the chart it's another crazy week with a huge 36/50 songs bulleted, including six debuts. "Diamonds" falls off the chart from last week's debut of #49, but expect it to re-enter once the bloodbath dies down.

P!nk is up all the way from #19 to #4 with her latest "Try", scoring her fifth top ten hit following the five-week #1 hit "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" as well as "F**kin' Perfect" (also #1), "Raise Your Glass" (#3) and "Ave Mary A" (#5). Meanwhile, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" is down six to #11 after 12 weeks in the top five, tied for the fourth most ever. I'll spare you the list since I did a similar one last week. Lower down, "What Makes You Beautiful" makes 50 weeks, the eighth hit to crack that milestone, and "Brokenhearted" falls off from 32 weeks and a #4 peak. The chart is much more comfortable overall this week with 48% bulleted, down from 60% last week.
