TOP 50: SEPTEMBER 2, 2012.

P!nk is back to #1 for a fourth week with "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)". Kelly Clarkson is up four to #9 with "Dark Side", her second top ten hit following "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" (#3 peak, #37 this week), and "Call Me Maybe" is back into the top ten for a 15th week. Little Big Town is up from #22 to #17 with "Pontoon". I don't consider "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" or "Blown Away" to be country, so I'm pretty sure it's the first country song to reach the top 20 since "Dirt Road Anthem" made #20 (and I regret not charting it higher) in July last year. "Gangnam Style" debuts at #26, which I think (I haven't checked carefully) is the first foreign language song to make the chart.

"Blow Me (One Last Kiss)" is number one for a fifth week, bringing it to equal fifth place on the most weeks at #1 tally, behind "Take Care" (16 weeks), "Domino" (13 weeks), "Cooler Than Me" (9 weeks) and "Judas" (7 weeks). "Pontoon" cracks the top ten this week, the first top ten hit for Little Big Town, and fun.'s "Some Nights" is on the verge, halving its position from #22 to #11. "Domino" and "Titanium" crack the 50-week mark, the sixth and seventh songs to remain on the chart for that long. Additionally, "Titanium" is the first non-top ten hit to reach the milestone. "Wide Awake" falls off the chart after only 15 weeks on, placing it seventh in terms of most weeks on for the singles from Teenage Dream. "California Gurls" is in first place with 44 weeks, "Part Of Me" is second with 30 (and counting), and "Firework" is last with 14.

One Direction debut at #4 with "Live While We're Young", their third top ten hit following "What Makes You Beautiful" (#2) and "One Thing" (#1), and Carly Rae Jepsen is new at #8 with "This Kiss", also her third top ten hit, following "Call Me Maybe" (#3) and "Good Time" (#2). "Call Me Maybe" and "Good Time" are still at #10 and #11 respectively, while "What Makes You Beautiful" and "One Thing" are #31 and #49. Both artists have perfect streaks with all of their entries having reached the top ten. With the help of all these new releases, there are a massive eight debuts (plus one re-entry) this week, causing a whole bunch of gaining songs to fall. To help accomodate for this, I've added a new feature: the bullet. Displayed in between the peak position and the title, a "+" denotes a song that gained this week; based on estimation, not actual calculations. Songs that have fallen of the chart are not eligible for the bullet.

fun. remains unbothered by the action spending a second week at #1 with "Some Nights", while Birdy's piano and voice (plus creaky chair) ballad "Skinny Love" is straight in at #2. It's her first top ten hit (and first chart entry altogether).
