I get frustrated by the non-sensical ones. Why is WHYB nominated all over the place in tech categories but WFL in the main categories. Why is Gotye not nominated for Best New Artist or Pop/Rock Video. How the H is M.I.A. nominated for Video of the Year?
Whatever. Hoping for Gotye to win VOTY, as that was THE video of the year but I'm predicting We Found Love to win, which I'd like since it was an outstanding video.

How the H is M.I.A. nominated for Video of the Year? Because her video was ACTUALLY really good.

Yes at beyonce getting 3 well deserved nom :) happy for Katy's 4 nods and Rihanna domination. Nice to see Carly get a best new artist nod. Pretty good nominees overall!

Great to see Rihanna getting the recognition she deserves this year.
I think WFL has a good chance of winning in every category it was nominated.

I actually like the nominees this year. It feels like everyone was represented from buzz artists to the chart favorites.

Why is everybody acting like this is Rihanna's breakthrough with MTV? She already has one Video of the Year win... She deserved more noms for Rated R but her Loud videos that were snubbed were pretty basic.
So Happy for M.I.A. and Duck Sauce.
All the cathegories are voted by the public? If so, what a mess.

How is Skyscraper nominated when it came out so long ago. Suprised to see Beyonce getting some nominations. It just feels weird to see nominations from eras that have already ended

Bad Girls should win Video of the Year in my opinion but it will go to We Found Love. I'm just glad it at least got a nomination, it's an incredible video. How the H is M.I.A. nominated for Video of the Year? LEAVE THE THREAD NOW. >:(

No love for the 'Criminal' video? I am glad to see 'Born to Die' receive some recognition, though- I thought for sure that Lana would be snubbed completely.

I just feel like the VMAs should be honoring videos that were widely seen/impactful (at least for VOTY) and I feel like I didn't hear anyone talking about that. I'm ok with it since it's awesome but I just feel like the song/video/MIA didn't make much noise this year.

How is Skyscraper nominated when it came out so long ago. It came out a couple of weeks before nominations were announced last year, so I guess there was some leeway.

Neither was Florence's "Dog Days Are Over" video in 2010 and look how well-known she is now.

I think they did a great job with noms this year. Congrats to Rih, Drake, and Katy for being the most nominated. :)

Also, MIA is a lot more known than Florence was when she got a nom. Hell, MIA performed at the Super Bowl this year. That said, MTV tends to nominate at least one indie act for Video Of The Year every year, regardless of their impact. Unfortunately, I wish it would have been Lana Del Rey instead.

Nominations are boring and predictable as usual (Oh wow Drake Rihanna and Katy that has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!) However, I will watch both of the performers so maybe they will pull it out with performances. Hoping for some new blood or interesting choices and not just the same old same old.

Bad Girls is an awesome video. Glad it's in the Best Video of the Year nominees!
Nice to see Lana del Rey getting some recognition as well, even thought those awards won't probably be televised.

Well, congrats to Rihanna for her sealed Video of the Year win.
Wide Awake as a VOTY contender? Seriously?

Nominations are boring and predictable as usual (Oh wow Drake Rihanna and Katy that has NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE!) But... you should get nominated if you release videos like Wide Awake and Take Care. Those are some damn good videos. Even if you don't like the songs, the videos are very well put together.

I saw Wide Awake but don't remember it-not sure I ever saw Take Care. Either way, I have never thought the VMAs actually nominated for great videos so much as just getting the same old people who show up for every other awards show hoping ratings will transfer. It gets boring to me, but I realize most people are totally cool with it and even want that. I hope some of the choices for performances are some of the "odd" nominees and not just the same people we have seen perform 40+ times in the past three years at every awards show, tv show, mall opening, etc.

MTV at least chose all of the nominees, I gather? Still not a fan of viewers determining the non-technical winners.
Her Madgesty didn't get a single nod- also happened with the American Life album, but it was more understandable with that album (as the title track's clip was pulled, and "Hollywood" was not all that great). The first two clips from the latest album actually were better than the clips from the last album.
