And it is weird that they'd do a tribute for Amy Winehouse and not one for Whitney. I mean seriously, what's up with that.

They need to let Whitney rest in peace. All these half-assed tributes with people who aren't nearly as talented are embarrassing and seemed like nothing more than a ploy to get viewers. She's been gone for 8 months, there's no need for another "tribute" when she's had one at every other show. I love Whitney, but people need to let her go and stop using her name for ratings/reality show deals/interview/books. So yeah, I'm glad MTV isn't doing one.

MTV hasn't given a tribute to Whitney awhile BET& the Grammies hav already it is nw their turn to show respect...I was waiting 2 see if MTV would since she was on TRL and attended the VMAS on many occasions seemed they had a good relationship..they did a tribute at the VMAS for Michael so why nt for Whitney? if anyone can give Whitney a proper Alist tribute its MTV..Michael's tribute was insanely good!!!

And don't forget that VH1 is still planning a show dedicated to Whitney this winter (either November or December)....at least with the VH1 special they'll be dedicating an entire hour or two just to Whitney. That will be different and (hopefully) will really emphasize her whole body of work. But an award show realistically can only allot a little bit of their time to a tribute and so there really is not much sense in MTV doing it AGAIN, where they will just have someone sing the same two or three songs that all the other shows did.

Also, timing typically plays a part. Michael and Amy died in the summer, so they were still fresh in everyone's minds and the VMAs were the first major awards show to take place after their deaths. It would have been foul if the VMAs did not put together something for them. Whitney on the other hand died early in the year and had tributes both immediately after and several months late. So in a sense the industry as a whole has had its chance to pay her its respects by now and I think it is okay for MTV to let that be enough. The Grammys is the only show where I would say this doesn't apply, simply b/c it is the biggest of them all and it would be expected of them to honor the greats. (So for example I will be very disappointed if they don't have at least a small tribute to Donna Summer, whereas I would give MTV a pass for not having one.)

Frank Ocean just recently released his critically acclaimed album and this is his first big Televised performance.

Lil' Wayne is not releasing a "second single" from "an EP". This is the 1st single from his brand new extremely anticipated Mixtape that basically shut down the internet yesterday.

With the hours ticking down to Thursday's 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, the musical treats in store for viewers keep getting sweeter.

We already told you that Rihanna is set to perform, but we can now reveal that she'll open the show with a collaboration featuring A$AP Rocky.

The Bajan babe will serve up a sexy performance of the official remix of her Talk That Talk single Cockiness (Love It) with Rocky, which you can listen to on her official site!

Calvin Harris will then join RiRi on stage to perform their VMA-nominated No.1 global smash, We Found Love. Immediately after her performance, the Cockiness remix will be available to purchase on iTunes.

If that's not enough star power for you, Nicki Minaj will also grace the stage with a secret guest and 2 Chainz will make his VMA debut.

Picking up from his massive closing performance at the 2011 Video Music Awards, VMA nominee Lil Wayne will also drop by for the proceedings to make the worldwide debut of his new single No Worries from his new mixtape, Dedication 4.

Katy Perry will present the first award of the night for Best Pop Video and pre-show performer Demi Lovato has also been added as a presenter.

The first-ever VMAs at Staples Center will also feature previously announced performances from One Direction, Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, Pink, Green Day and Frank Ocean.

Confirmed presenters include The Wanted, Andy Samberg, Rashida Jones, Ke$ha, Miley Cyrus, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller and the Fierce Five, the 2012 gold medal-winning U.S. Women's Gymnastics Team.

Korean rapper and "Gangnam Style" YouTube sensation Psy, who was just signed to Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun's record label will also be in the house.

It's the second single from I Am Not A Human Being 2...which is an EP. It just happens to be on the mixtape. And Channel Orange has been out for two months. There's nothing excited to look forward to. No one has anything in the works. We've already heard pink and green days singles. I want something exciting. New kesha or gaga single or announcement or something. I think I'd be more excited to see ciara perform sorry wty this point. At least it'd be something new.
