She should have done promo this week, or released a quickie remix with a major act.

or released a quickie remix with a major act. No. I hate it when anyone does this. Rihanna, Britney, Katy, etc. No. Just no.

Ewwww no. This is just yuck! It feels more desperate than the Rihanna, KPs of the world because these two people would never be on the same song ever under any other circumstance.

It's not desperate and tacky. It's smart and strategic. Y'all are doing too much with the pervasive anti-discount and anti-remix sentiments on here.

It's odd to see CMM dropping like a stone on radio when its sales are still relatively strong. Usually, it's the reverse.

I know Let Me Love You was released in July, but the digital download was released on 31th of July. I think the radio first needed to know the song mor,e but now the song is rocketing. Altough, I still don't think it will become a hit.

Such a stagnant chart with no one having a 2m update again, what's wrong with radio?
Edit: Though at least Lights is outpacing whistle and Call Me Maybe is plummeting. If this trend keeps up, I think Lights has a chance for #1 this week.

Such a stagnant chart with no one having a 2m update again, what's wrong with radio? I'm guessing it's a late Summer lull. Radio is hanging on to those Summer hits that are beginning to peak in anticipation for the period after Labor Day where we see some new hits/Fall hits really emerging.

I think I have a good guess as the formula... did some number crunching and I think it's not that complicated.
1 point for every 1k sales 1 point for every 10k on-demand streaming 1.5 points for every 1m audience impressions
With a little bit of wiggle room for passive streaming points it has worked when I looked at past charts where we had data and it was almost 100% accurate. It even got Maroon 5 and Bieber's debuts right. The only close call it had wrong is it shows M5 would've been ahead of Katy by less than 3 points on the 8/11 chart -- but I think passive streaming could've made the difference.
Anyway I'd seen some people coming up with pretty complex formulas and I suspected Billboard would not be doing something so complicated since their formulas in the past were fairly straightforward.

Ellie Goulding, Katy Perry Scale Airplay Chart Summits August 13, 2012 | By Gary Trust, New York Two songs that have reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 - so far - top a pair of Billboard's Nielsen BDS-based radio airplay charts. Ellie Goulding ascends to the top of the Mainstream Top 40 ranking, as "Lights" (Interscope) rises 2-1 in its 23rd week. With its ascent, the song matches P!nk's "U + Ur Hand" (23 weeks, 2006-07) for the longest climb to No. 1 by a woman in the chart's almost-20-year history. Among all No. 1s, only Cee Lo Green's "F**k You! (Forget You)" (25 weeks, 2010-11) has logged a lengthier rise to the pinnacle. "I would like to give my thanks to each and every person at U.S. radio who helped 'Lights' become such a successful -- and a No. 1 -- song," Goulding wrote in an industry thank you ad to stations. "I could not be more grateful for this journey and here's hoping that it can continue." Katy Perry, meanwhile, extends her lead for the most No. 1s in the 16-year archives of the Adult Top 40 chart, where "Wide Awake" (Capitol) lifts 3-1. The song is Perry's seventh leader on the list, pushing her further ahead of Maroon 5, Nickelback and P!nk, each second with five toppers. Perry has notched her record sum of Adult Top 40 No. 1s in just more than three-and-a-half years, having first led with "Hot N Cold" the week of Dec. 27, 2008. On the Hot 100, which combines Nielsen SoundScan sales data and BDS-measured streaming information, in addition to BDS-monitored airplay, "Lights" and "Awake" have each risen to No. 2. On the Hot 100 released last Wednesday (Aug. 8), "Lights" jumped 5-2 in its 33rd week. The week earlier, "Awake" rose 3-2 (before slipping to No. 4 last week). Will either "Lights" or "Awake" rule the Hot 100 this week? Or, can Carly Rae Jepsen log a 10th week at No. 1 with "Call Me Maybe"? (Flo Rida's "Whistle" could also work its way to the top, having climbed 4-3 last week). Find out Wednesday (Aug. 15), when highlights of the Hot 100 will post on Billboard.biz. All charts, including the Hot 100, Mainstream Top 40 and Adult Top 40, will refresh Thursday (16) on Billboard.biz. Taylor has got it next week. She will sell north of 500k downloads and have huge airplay because she's got a Clear Channel deal with 300 stations.
