Still think "Broken" is gonna be a bigger hit for Lifehouse than "First Time"

Still think "Broken" is gonna be a bigger hit for Lifehouse than "First Time" I thought "Blind" was going to be a huge hit for them but that wasn't the case. "Broken" isn't catchy enough to be #1 and the only good part is towards the end when he starts yelling somewhat.

I think "Broken" is much more relatable (sp?) to Hot AC and Pop listeners than "Blind" was, though, esp. when he sings "In the pain there is healing" or something like that - anyway, I think "Broken" is actually really deep, and gets better with every play "Blind" had a really whiny chorus to it - and had a convoluted (sp?) main idea IMO As far as yelling, "You And Me" (according to CHR/Hot AC combo) was the biggest hit of their career, and their wasn't any yelling in it - it's also now (I hear) the most popular wedding song in the country :)

"Hanging By A Moment" was probably a bit bigger, although not by much. YAM just lasted way longer, whereas HBAM was the most played song of the year. I still don;t know why "You And Me" was such a huge hit because I think it was pretty boring.

Whoops - sorry "Hanging By A Moment" was bigger (according to CHR/HAC combo chart anyway - those are only stats I have:) Using reverse point system, "Hanging By A Moment" = 1817 points - #1 song of 2001 "You And Me" = 1648 points - #1 song of 2005 BTW "You And Me" is one of my favorite songs of all time, but this shouldn't bias the stats :)

Using the points system, here's which was bigger. "Hanging By a Moment" earned 469 points on the pop chart, making it the #1 pop song of 2001. It had 892 points on the Hot AC chart and was the 3rd biggest song there of 2001. "You and Me" had 284 points on the pop chart and was the 8th biggest song of 2005 on that format. On Hot AC, it had a huge 958 points, and was the biggest song of 2005. I got this info from here= popradiotop20.com/Based on that, "You and Me" is thier biggest hit on Hot AC, but "Hanging by a Moment" was thier biggest hit on the pop chart, and as atlantaboy said, overall.

Using the inverse point system for the entire chart, on HAC, "You and Me" had 2370 points, making it the 2nd biggest song since the HAC chart began in 1994. "Hanging by a Moment" had 2216 points. www.geocities.com/at40fantoo/at20/top100hac.html

Those rankings are based on the number of weeks each hit spent at #1 as the primary calculation.
"Hanging By a Moment" would have been on that list if the calculation was weighted heavier on the total number of weeks on the chart, but since that song spent a rather meager 5 weeks at #1, it didn't make this list. "You and Me" spent 9 weeks at the summit, and ranked at #26 on the list of top Hot AC hits of all time.
Joel Whitburn is the source.

Ohhh that makes sense then. I thought it was total chart time for some reason.

This song sounds like most of their others. They are all starting to run together for me. I also don't think that this song is as strong as some of their previous hits. I'm surprised HotAC has supported it but then good for them. Nice guys even though I don't think they are that great of a band.

Those rankings are based on the number of weeks each hit spent at #1 as the primary calculation. IMO that's not a fair way to calculate song success b/c weeks at No. 1 depends on how much competition they have at the time they peak

Yeah, and "Over my Head" by The Fray was the #1 song of the year in 2006 but only made it to #3.

Speaking of "Over my Head", I think this song might end up like that one did. Rise, peak, fall, and then rise to an even higher peak because of a push from pop radio (although it probably will go top 10 on pop, and not top 5 like "Over my Head" did.

Only problem is IMO there's too many Pop stations in markets that don't like rock (unless its teen rock bands or a rock ballad) - I think there's lots of CHR/Pop stations that'll leave "First Time" for their Hot AC counterpart (sp?) to play Not sure "First Time" appeals to teens like "Over My Head (Cable Car)" did

^ That's a good point, and I guess "You and Me" also had more appeal than this.
Very small increase now.

Daughtry and Maroon 5 need to start losing steam, not Lifehouse!! And I won't even start on the most overrated song of the year, "Hey There Delilah." It looks like "First Time" will drop to #5 this week with Fergie about ready to overtake it.
