It's still holding ground quite nicely at Hot AC. +100, 11th greatest gainer. The next threat is Matchbox Twenty which still is at least 2 weeks behind. Hopefully Maroon 5 will start dropping faster allowing Lifehouse to remain in the top 5 for a little longer. I still think this will remain in the top 10 for a few more months, before "Broken" skyrockets to #1!! ...or at least it deserves to!

Anyone else heard the background music to this in a Dodge commercial?

Yeah, they used to play the lyrics for it too but stopped for whatever reason.

5 5 LIFEHOUSE First Time 2007 Geffen 2918 2751 167 13.834
It's back up to the 7th greatest gainer! This may have not peaked quite yet! I think it will officially make it back to #3 at least, if not #2, depending on how well Fergie hangs on and how fast Matchbox Twenty approaches.

Maroon 5 and Daughtry might be -300 in a week, so this has that opportunity in my opinion.

Don't think "Big Girls Don't Cry" is goin anywhere soon - as much as I'd like Lifehouse to hit #1...I still think they have a better shot with "Broken" when it comes out (which won't be for a long time since "First Time" is tearin up the CHR chart!! :))

Glad to see this get to #3, man. :) I wish it were #1 right now, because I think it is way better than "Big Girls Don't Cry" or "Hey There Delilah" (although I like the latter).

^ i agree! i was tired of hearing BGDC after the first time i heard it. same with HTD (agreed it is better than BGDC) im so sick of both of them. the thing that gets be about fergie is how hard she tries to sound sincere, and she just way over-does it. the first impression i got of her was on My Humps, then London Bridge. i cant take her seriously. then she pulls the anology "im gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket" in this puppy voice. and it just sounds retarded to me. and then god knows if she even came up with those lame lyrics in the first place... real bands/artists like Lifehouse just earn so much more respect from me.

^ That was very well-said! :) I think Jason Wade is a brilliant songwriter, to be honest. I love the lyrics of "Broken", especially (which I hope can be a #1 here). I agree with the Fergie being My Humps/London Bridge type of girl. I don't mind her that much, but heck, she should just stick to who she is, and not record a lame ballad.
"Hey There Delilah" is a good change for music but it gets tiring in a way. I still like it, though. "First Time" has little burn, which is why I think it is still rising after all this time (although it did fall for a little while).

Yeah, despite the fact that i personally do not caremuch for Hey there delilah, the lyrics are good and catchy. and i always welcome a newcomer to the pop market that temporarily makes stations skip a track between JT, Tpain, and Timbaland. :) honestly i do listen to them, but just for mood music, like going clubbing and whatnot. i dont get excited like some when they move another 45,000 units. i like to see artists/bands working for what they got. that is where the true talent is at, its not in the voice of idols, or the hip-hop superstat-pawns. as for Lifehouse, they have been a favorite since 2001, and i love seeing First Time doing well. and i am very excited for singles to come, this album has some real depth, and i think they will break their 1 hit per album curse with Broken.

5 3 LIFEHOUSE First Time 2007 Geffen 3036 3015 21 15.321
Well, it will at least officially peak at #3. I doubt it will make it to #2 because Pink is coming up too fast and Plain White T's aren't dropping quick enough. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thinks this is the most deserving song for #1 out of the current options.

I def. think this deserves to be #1 but predicted a long time ago that it wouldn't (still think it won't) b/c it's too fast-paced rock for the more conservative Hot AC's - I def. think "Broken" has a better shot at #1 HAC

^ Well, HAC stations don't have a problem spinning Higher, How You Remind Me, Kryptonite, etc. STILL. Those songs are fast-paced as well.
I think that you are probably overthinking this - Lifehouse is a great band and they have a very successful single. The problem is - there are tons of great singles out there getting HAC play. Plus, you have newcomer Daughtry whose 3 singles combined are stealing a TON of airplay from other rock bands on HAC. Not to mention, Lifehouse has strong recurrent play as well. Even if this doesn't go #1, it's a huge success for the band.

Yeah but I don't think "First Time" rises to the level of those songs (those are three of the most played songs on HAC and CHR of the decade)...and the only one of those that's fast-paced is "Kryptonite" - the others are heavy but half the speed of "First Time"

Daughtry's not stealing airplay from anyone - HAC tends to add more songs regardless of how many currents it already has - and during times when there's not as many HAC singles (2003-2005 I think) it just plays more songs from the 80s and 90s Lifehouse had huge recurrent airplay from "Hanging By A Moment" and "You And Me" but that's b/c they were enormous hits that spent forever on the charts...not sure that "First Time" will be huge in recurrent play - just moderate IMO
