LeToya Powers Right To No. 1 On Billboard 200



Six years after a messy departure from Destiny's Child, LeToya Luckett's "LeToya" zooms straight to No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, where it debuted last week due to street date violations. The Capitol set sold 165,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The single "Torn" has already spent three weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

"LeToya" knocks last week's No. 1, the multi-label compilation "NOW 22," down to No. 2. The latter set fell of 27% in sales to 151,000. Close behind is the Interscope solo debut from super-producer Pharrell Williams, "In My Mind," which shifted 142,000 units. The set was originally due last fall and has been repeatedly pushed back while Williams reworked the material.

Just pointing out that there are bigger selling greatest hits albums than Imacculate Collection and released more recently.

This week will be week #298 on the Catalog chart for Beatles 1. Which would tell me that it is a consistent seller with longevity. It is in the top 10 in the soundscan era at almost 10.5 million sold.

Shocking that someone would try to undermine the success and longevity of The Immaculate Collection. The album logged 141 weeks on the BB 200 in its initial run (before catalog rules came about, where an album was removed from the chart after 2 years once it dropped below No. 100- why 1 "only" logged 104 weeks on before getting transferred to the catalog chart). To date, IMmaculate has logged 420 cumulative weeks on the BB 200 and Pop Catalog (top 50) charts. It's been ranked outside the top 50 for most of the past year, but continues to scan decent amounts weekly.

The Beatles' 1 has been a phenomenal selling album, as it should be- it's the Beatles. Just like Madge's album has been a grand success. They's the templates for groups and females.

I dont think he was trying to undermine it. Someone said that they couldnt remember a greatest hits with the longevity of Guns since Madonna. There has been another GH with great longevity sinc Immaculate-the Beatles.

Are we missing any others? God knows GH albums from BSB and Britney wont come close to these artists (for a good reason-holy too soon in a career!)

That poster has had some- how shall we say- choice words- for Madge before, so that's why I used the word "undermine." Of course I'm aware of the Beatles' 1, being the chartwatcher I am. :)

Another reason hits albums from BSB and Spears wouldn't come close is that the quality isn't in the league of Beatles and M. The songs on 1 and Immaculate represent their era so fittingly- that adds toe their allure, outside the fact that they're great music, too.

good for letoya, i dont even know many of her songs but i would'ave bought her album just to support her. i'm thinking i'll get a copy next week, i've seen very good reviews for this album. i hope her album comes at least a little close to beyonce.

ugh, i cant believe i wasted my money on that pharell album this week. there's only 2 good songs on that album, "number 1" and that one with nelly, the others are shit. rihanna's album keeps doing good, hopefully her next single is a hit so she can go 2x platinum, it will be so deserved.

Another reason hits albums from BSB and Spears wouldn't come close is that the quality isn't in the league of Beatles and M. The songs on 1 and Immaculate represent their era so fittingly- that adds toe their allure, outside the fact that they're great music, too.
