Nice jumps from "Troublemaker", "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)" and "Next to Me". Sad that both P!nk's songs have fallen as well as "Thank You". Nice debut of "Heart Attack" too.
PS. I <3 your flashback I'm still pissed of that "Born to Make You Happy" wasn't released in the US though.

Well, we finally have a brand new #1! That Taylor/Ke$ha/P!nk reign (that has been in place since September 2012) finally let up. Neon Trees and Kaskade steal the number one with their hit, "Lessons In Love (All Day, All Night)." That's four new males making it to number one. The first males to be number one since Karmin's "Brokenhearted" was number one in April 2012. However, don't be fooled by this number one. That Ke$ha/Taylor/P!nk reign isn't quite over. "I Knew You Were Trouble." stays stagnant at number two (with "C'mon" falling to number three) and sees an increase in points while "22" missed the chart by less than 2.5 points and continues to see gains every week. Ke$ha is set to release a new single soon, which will surely rocket up my chart. P!nk sees a huge jump from number 11 to number five with "Just Give Me a Reason." Will it be the next #1? Speaking of jumpns in the top ten, Ellie Goulding finally broke her number eight curse and flies eight to four with "Figure 8" while Carrie Underwood finally breaks away from her 9-11 curse and jump to number seven. We also see a new entry into the top ten with Carly Rae Jepsen's latest release, "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" at number ten. Just below the top ten, Demi Lovato's latest single, "Heart Attack," rockets from number 28 to number 14 claiming the biggest gain of the week by seeing an increase of over 5 points! Also seeing new peaks are "Restless Heart," which flies 23 to 16, "Next to Me," which explodes 24 to 18, "Madness," which leaps 27 to 19, and "With Ur Love," which climbs 26 to 21. The chart also sees two debuts this week. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's huge smash hit, "Thrift Shop," finally debuts on ther chart at number 22. Really? You don't know how many guys. Maroon 5.

Anyway, I've had a lot of close calls.

"Locked Out of Heaven" peaked at number three because it was blocked by "I Knew You Were Trouble." and "C'mon." "Whistle" peaked at number two. Blocked by "Blown Away." "Some Nights" also peaked at number two. Blocked by, of course, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together." (That's really the only block I regret looking back at everything.) "We Are Young" peaked at number three. I don't remember what blocked it. Probably "Brokenhearted" and "Starships" if I had to guess. "Don't You Worry Child" of course peaked at number three, blocked by the same two that blocked "Locked Out of Heaven." Train came close with both "Drive By" (#3) and "50 Ways to Say Goodbye" (#4). And of course Zedd & Matthew Koma peaked at number two with "Spectrum."

It's not like the males aren't represented, it's just that lately there's always been a female with a ever so slightly better song.

It's all right, though. It looks like Nate Ruess will be #1 soon enough. (Although, aided by a female, but whatever.) There's also "Restless Heart" at #16 right now. I'm definitely not ruling it out as a possible #1. "Madness" has already proved to have great longevity with me. (It debuted three weeks ago despite me having purchased it in January.) I wouldn't count it out for #1 either. There's also Fall Out Boy and tyDi lower down the chart. I'll probably go ahead and rule out Macklemore & Friends with "Thrift Shop" just because it got its start with me so late.

And if Bruno Mars releases "Moonshine," "Natalie," or "Treasure" as a single, there's a good shot at him getting #1 with them.

Slizzard got me in the spirit of history...

So, let's take a look at this. This was one of many attempts of my first personal charts. There was absolutely no methodology to this. I just made up a list based on my personal preference that week, which is mainly the reason it flopped. I just got sick of trying to think of 40 songs to fit there and just got lazy and stopped. So, this chart has been perpetually frozen on April 17, 2010. The number one was Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now." How delightful! My favorites are positions 32 and 36 through 40. NONE of those songs have EVER been on my iPod. They're just there as filler.

Then, there's this. Up until this chart, it was the longest attempt at a personal chart for me. I wish I could find those individual weeks, but at least there's the list of #1s. I'm completely WTF-ing at the longest running #1 being "Already Gone" at 4 weeks. Did I really love it that much back then? Because I find it really overrated now. It would probably still reach the top ten if released today, but definitely not #1... especially for 4 weeks.

Wow! What a week! The entire top four has over 20 points this week, which is definitely a record! The entire top seven is over 19 points, which is a gain, quite a huge deal! The top ten is EXTREMELY competitive at the moment, and it's about to get even more so with all of those adds! Neon Trees only got to celebrate one week at number as Ellie Goulding smashes her way to number one with a four and a half point jump! Aided by the release of her debut album, Kacey Musgraves' debut single, "Merry Go 'Round" jumps to a new peak of number three. Right below her, Taylor Swift continues to slay as "I Knew You Were Trouble." only slips two spots to number four after spending a whopping 19 weeks inside the top ten, which means that it holds the record for longest stay in the top ten in a three-way-tie with "Call Me Maybe" and "Catch My Breath." No doubt it will break the record next week. Below that, rocketing its way from 14 to number five is Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack"! (Oddly enough, that means it has already peaked higher than record holder, "Give Your Heart a Break.") Carly Rae Jepsen's "Tonight I'm Getting Over You" also sees a big jump from ten to six, which means, P!nk's "Just Give Me a Reason" gets pushed down five to seven. However, with tickets going on sale for her Kansas City tour date in November, anything can happen with the P!nk tracks in my top 30 (notice "Try" spends a 26th (!) week on the chart.) Reaching new peaks this week are "Stay" at 11, "Restless Heart" at 15, "Next to Me" at 17, "Madness" at 18, "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)" at 19, and "Glow In the Dark" at 23. - "Figure 8" is atop!
- "Heart Attack" jumps 9, but it makes "Just Give Me a Reason" to fall from the Top 5
- Nice climbs of "Stay", "Next to Me", "Madness" and "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)".
- "Thank You" needs to rebound and I like the longevity of "Try".
- Good debut of "22" and "What About Us". I assumed you are rooting for the non-Sean Paul version in the latter.
- "Clarity", "I Love It" and "Can't Hold Us" should debut. ;)

Well, I finally did it. The chart, which first started out as a top 25, has now expanded to a top 40! There was no methodology changes, just an expansion of the chart. Ellie Goulding remains on top for a second week and continues to gain in points! She has a nice lead over the number two song at the moment, but check out that bullet on the number two song. P!nk's "Just Give Me a Reason," sky rockets from number seven to number two and looks to take the number one spot at any week. Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble." climbs a position to number three, despite losing points. The former eight-week number one smash hit hit two milestones this week. This week marks its 20th week in the top ten, meaning it now holds the record for longest stay in the top ten! Amazingly enough, the song also was certified 11x Platinum this week and it's still in the top three! It could rival Ke$ha's "TiK ToK" for most successful song of all time. Speaking of Ke$ha, "C'mon" spikes back up to number five after nosediving from three to ten last week. "Stay" enters the top ten for the time as it moves from 11 to nine, pushing "Daylight" out of the top ten. Below "Daylight," "Thank You" reaches a new peak of number 12. Also reaching new peaks this week are "My Songs Know What You Did In the Dark (Light Em Up)," "Next to Me," "22," "With Ur Love," and "What About Us." The top 30 also sees two new debuts from Mariah Carey's "Almost Home" and Icona Pop and Charli XCX's "I Love It." Below them is the new 31-40 section!!!! It include two songs that otherwise would have fallen out this week ("Try" and "Don't Rush") and also includes three former top 30 hits ("Gold Trans Am," "Locked Out of Heaven," and "Natalie.") The new entries from the 31-40 section include Australian X Factor winner, Samatha Jade's "What You've Done to Me," Flo Rida's hit international single, "Let It Roll," Pitch Perfect's hit "Cups" performed by Anna Kendrick, Imagine Dragons' latest alternative/AAA single "Demons," and Kacey Musgraves' new single "Blowin' Smoke."
