Meek Mill, Stewart, Keith Lead Debuts, but the East's Mega-Storm Clouds the ReadingsOctober 31, 2012 With much of the East Coast still digging its way out from superstorm Sandy's wake, there's a larger margin of error than usual in this week's numbers. But Maybach/Warner Bros. hip-hop phenom Meek Mill is stepping out strong, leading the key debuts with a projected 175-200k for his Dreams & Nightmares. He's got a huge constituency in New York, though, so the figures we're seeing may be unusually susceptible to this very inclement weather. In other new-release news, Rod Stewart's holiday set on Verve is expected to ring in 80-85k; country stalwart Toby Keith (Showdog) should fetch 50-55k; Neil Young's newest on Reprise, the possibly non-prescription Psychedelic Pill, is due to ingest 30-35k; A&M/Octone's Flyleaf is on track for 15-18k; and Ultra/Roc Nation/Columbia EDM hero Calvin Harris will likely move 10-12k. We'll keep you posted on these and other titles as things slowly return to relative normalcy--and, as ever, we send our best wishes to everyone who's been weathering the storm. www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/newsPage.cgi?news09177m01

Oh shit thought Calvin could do better but dance music doesn't give you top 3 albums, it's just a fact

Wow at Meek Mll!
Rod's Xmas album is doing okay.
I still don't think we are going to have a huge Xmas album this year.

Oh s**t thought Calvin could do better but dance music doesn't give you top 3 albums, it's just a fact There's also hardly any promotion for the album. That may have helped a little. I didn't even know it was out until today. The singles did do well, but those are the only good songs on that album unfortunately.

Regarding Calvin, it feels more like its just been way too delayed. I thought they might have scrapped the album -- seems like the singles started coming out over a year ago.

I was going to get Calvin's album but other than the Florence song, I didn't really have any other incentive to get it at this point without listening to the samples. I have Rihanna's song from her album and the Ellie song from hers. I think Calvin should be planning a re-release a la Guetta with some more collabs sooner than later.

Yay Meek Mill continues the trend of strong Hip-Hop debuts! Unless you are on Shady Records like Yelawolf or Slaughterhouse. haha.

Meek probably would have matched closer to Kendrick's projections if Sandy weren't an issue.

AND NOW, YOUR TOP 15: This week's top debut, Meek Mill, seems to have been impacted the hardest by this week's storms, flooding and power outages in the Northeast. While most of the other titles are falling in line with expectations, Mill, whose base has been heaviest in the New York/Philadelphia areas, seems to be coming in considerably below earlier forecasts. His projection today has dropped nearly 10% over what the numbers suggested yesterday. In addition, Meek's digital share may be substantially higher than comparable first week titles indicating consumers on the East Coast are more focused on getting their power back on and back to work rather than buying new releases. Here's how it looks headed into the weekend:
Taylor Swift (Big Machine) 325-340k * Meek Mill (Maybach/Warner Bros.) 165-180k * Rod Stewart (Verve) 75-80k Kendrick Lamar (Aftermath/Interscope) 65-70k Jason Aldean (Broken Bow) 65-70k * Toby Keith (Show Dog) 45-50k Mumford & Sons (Glassnote) 40-45k * Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Reprise) 30-35k * Trans Siberian Orchestra (Lava/Republic) 24-27k Pink (RCA) 20-23k Little Big Town (Capitol Nashville) 18-21k Tony Bennett (Columbia) 17-20k Lady Antebellum (Capitol Nashville) 17-20k * Flyleaf (A&M/Octone) 17-20k Carrie Underwood (19/Arista Nashville) 15-18k
* Debuts
Here's hoping for as rapid a return to normal as possible on the East Coast. (11/1p)

A bit of a larger drop for Taylor than I was hoping for. Great numbers for Rod and great consistency for Carrie!

Didn't SN do 322k in its 2nd week? I think that's a good drop for Red.
No Adele.
Yeah for Pink holding on. I want it to scan 1 million.

Assuming Taylor makes it to the upper end of HITS' second week projection, it will be about a 72% drop for her which isn't too shabby considering its mammoth debut.

* Rod Stewart (Verve) 75-80k * Neil Young & Crazy Horse (Reprise) 30-35k
Brilliant for Rod and hoped better for Neil Young since Americana has done quite well.

Taylor should be at 2 million within three weeks. That's just incredible.
Great consistency and longevity for Carrie as well!

I was hoping for a much better hold for Kendrick. His album is getting universally great reviews and is being hailed as a classic on every hio-hop site. To me, it's the best hip-hop album for at least the last 6 years.

It's good but without proper hits to keep the album selling sadly.

It's hard for me to be disappointed with anything Kendrick's album does from here on out. I was expecting him to sell about 90-100K first week and max out at about 300K.
His success is so good for hip hop right now.

Great consistency for Carrie :)
I think RED will do higher than that because Taylor performed Begin Again at the CMA

Great consistency for Carrie :) I think RED will do higher than that because Taylor performed Begin Again at the CMA They take that into consideration when they predict these numbers. If anything, I think numbers will be slightly smaller across the board due to Sandy... Nothing dramatic, but some of these numbers may be overestimates, if anything...
