In the UK, it's moved up from #3 to #2 on the Friday midweeks. If it holds, it will tie w/ 'Love Story' as her highest peaking single in the UK.

This song was an actual topic of conversation the other day. People really felt the need to explain why they liked it so much or something. But everyone agreed it was catchy as fuck and a pretty perfect pop song. This has shot up to the (almost) top but I hope it can linger there for a good while.
As for her character, it's hard for me to assess, as I haven't ever followed her much and none of my friends are into her. I will say that I keep seeing various forms of that "Maybe it's her" meme going around re: her songs, which is a little amusing, but no more harmful than all the other widely accepted snap-judgments about most big music stars. In the end, I'm sure she'll be fine, but she'd probably be wise not to lead off her next album with yet another young-feeling kiss-off because that narrative will start to wear on people.

This is my guilty pleasure at the moment. I have never listened to her before (just heard her here and there), but I kind of love this.

This song has captured so many new people and such a new, diverse audience for her. I wish there was another song like this on the album but the closest thing we got is 22. Everyone is waiting for that next big hit. She's never had such momentum, I really hope they don't mess up her next single.

I think the reason this song has "captured so many new people" is because it was made FOR pop radio. It was made WITH pop radio in mind. This isn't some kinda country-kinda pop song. It's purely pop with only pop elements in it.
And it works for her. This is her first crossover hit that I've enjoyed.

She's on the verge of becoming a pop radio staple so she needs a couple more hits to ensure her place. 22 should be next with Red following it. After that they can do whatever they want. Is Begin Again really struggling on country radio or is it just overeaction of it moving slower than her previous singles? It's one of my favorites by her so it'd suck if it ends up flopping.

Begin Again is at #8 on Mediabase and #10 on Billboard Airplay. I wouldn't call it a flop per se (see: WANEGBT), but it's not doing as well as one might suspect, either. It's more or less just ... there ... on country radio right now.

I think they should actually go Red and then 22, to change the sound a little bit. As for Begin Again, it has been treading water for like 2 months now on country radio, just lingering in the teens and now top 10 getting passed by bigger songs (Band Perry, Tim McGraw, etc) but not dropping because of recurrents. It doesn't look like it's gonna go much further, with Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town and Carrie all coming up from behind. So I'd say, release Red to both Country and Pop and then go with 22 for Pop, All Too Well for country. If they wanted to release something else after 22 I'd like The Last Time to be that song, but I doubt it

I agree. I want "Red" to follow this and "Begin Again" as the third single to both formats, and then "22" to pop over the last 2/3 of summer.

What is her label doing? They're really going to settle for #2? This song has dominated the last couple months. I don't see why it isn't available for streaming. This new formula for the hot 100 is so screwed up. I found the old way to be way more efficient.

Streaming is becoming a popular thing. It also gives people a lot more say over what they listen to than radio. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it being a factor. If anything, it and sales need to account for a bigger part of the total points, and radio less, since you choose what to buy and stream (not sure about passive streaming how much/little choice you get there), and radio is force-fed to you.
