What is her label doing? They're really going to settle for #2? This song has dominated the last couple months. I don't see why it isn't available for streaming. This new formula for the hot 100 is so screwed up. I found the old way to be way more efficient. They've already settled. Like I said a couple of weeks ago, this has already peaked on the Hot 100 and it's a shame. It's funny though because Big Machine cares so much about Country peaks and they'll do whatever they have to do to insure a top 10 peak for all of her singles (even WANEGBT, which failed to do so..."technically") but they've never cared about Hot 100 peaks. I'm not going to complain because the Swift brand is 50% Taylor and 50% her team and I think she has one of the best, if not the best and savviest teams in the music industry, but they do not give two shits about her Hot 100 peaks, and they never have. They care about sales, and I guess it makes sense from a business point of view, but they're more of a corporation than they are a record label, which there really isn't anything wrong with, it just sucks because she could have a far larger list of #1 singles at this point if they really wanted to.

Streaming is becoming a popular thing. It also gives people a lot more say over what they listen to than radio. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it being a factor. If anything, it and sales need to account for a bigger part of the total points, and radio less, since you choose what to buy and stream (not sure about passive streaming how much/little choice you get there), and radio is force-fed to you. Amen. This is streaming on the new MySpace. I'm not sure if it's from her label or from a user, but if Billboard will count S&T's streaming from that site, then they should also look into the other popular songs that users are playing.

Taylor is always been a albums sales artist not a singles artist. Taylor's label has always focused on the album sales.Look at Speak Now era for example underperforming songs on CHR/Pop ;Heck no top 10s on CHR/Pop but the album still sold well for the most part.I'm not surprised the song is peaking. The song already sold a lot during the time it was a promo single on Itunes. Her label would never make a remix with someone like Jay-Z for bigger singles sales. That is just NOT Taylor. As a fan,I'm happy with the #2 peak and the album is still top 5 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. The reason Big Machine cares about country peaks because that is Taylor's core format for her WHOLE CAREER. Like Nicki Minaj with Urban Radio. Taylor is a crossover artist like Nicki Minaj but still got to cater to your core format audience.

Why ignore Rhythmic though? I'm not purposefully ignoring Rhythmic. I use the AllAboutCountry chart links when I do my initial rounds, but the chart for Rhythmic only shows the top 20. So I could post the Pop/HAC/AC updates all together or I could try waiting til AllAccess updates so I can add Rhythmic as well, which runs the risk of someone else (namely Slizzard) coming through and posting the rest before I can, and I get kinda OCD territorial about that LMAO

This song is pop perfection. The only thing that annoys me is at the chorus - they should have gone harder with the instruemental there. There's a version on Youtube where someone plays the song in the background while he's playing a guitar and drums (2 different sessions) and his addition at the chorus is exactly what I needed. As for this missing the #1 on Hot 100 - I too am disappointed, but this song's impact is undeniable, so has been Gangam Styles's which also "only" peaked @#2. Could Taylor ever top this? I doubt it, but she has that power to make me love most of her songs - I still listen to Back to December, what a tune!

Hopefully it'll get the top spot on Billboard after it goes #1 on mediabase. Which, I think is almost a given at this point. It'll pass "Ho Hey" tomorrow and move up to #2. Bruno has already started his decent. And nothing behind IKYWT is going to pass it.

blocked from #1 on the hot100 :( I wish Macklemore never passed Taylor Swift for #1. :( :( :( :( :( :( To be honest, I doubt this would have gotten to #1 even without "Thrift Shop." "Locked Out of Heaven" is the song that blocked this. Now that it's falling, "Suit & Tie" is ready to take over. It will most likely be "Thrift Shop" at #1 and "Suit & Tie" at #2 on the Hot 100 next week, with them switching positions every now and then.

The only one blocking this from being #1 is Scott Borchetta by not releasing this to streaming services.

Had it been released to streaming, it's very likely that it would have gotten one week at number one... this week. How sad. Oh well. It's about to make up for that by getting a crapload of weeks at #1 on pop, I'm sure. ;)

I really liked this song for about two weeks, but it burned out surprisingly quickly for me.

As I said in the "Locked Out Of Heaven" thread, this is 1,138 spins behind that and gained 577 spins on it today. #1 this week may not be out of the question.

I keep forgetting to ask, but is anyone else's audio on this song oddly low? It's quieter than every other song I have on iTunes, maybe even quieter than the two other songs I bought from the album (but not sure). My bf and friend who bought it have said the same thing. It's a small complaint, but annoying because I have to turn up my speakers or headphones for just this song every time.

I thought it was just me, but the audio on the entire album sans WANEGBT seems oddly more quiet than the normal audio file from iTunes.

All the Max Martin songs seem like they were mixed at a lower volume and it's super annoying. I adjusted the volume on iTunes so it's fine, but I thought I had a shitty copy of the album.

If you happen to have the patience, you can use audicity to correct the volume issues. Pretty much get audicity; open the file, and it'll look like this if it's volume is super low: All you need to do is go to "Effect, Amplify" & it'll automatically default to the amplification amount that would bring the track to normal volume, so just hit okay. And then it'll look like this, which is normal volume: Then just export it as an mp3 file (saving it just saves it as an audicity file, using export let's you save it as an actual music file). It might feel like a hassle the first time since you're having to download a program; but all future times it's quick and easy. I always do it for tracks that aren't proper amplified (which a lot of older tracks aren't by modern day standards because they didn't amplify things in the past like they do now). Also this works better than simply adjusting the volume on iTunes, because it's actually amplifying the file.

I have audacity and was going to do that, but I just wanted to whine and point out that I was doing something that wasn't my job. Good thing I like the song...or else Taylor would really be in trouble.

I have Audacity, but it doesn't let you open an mp4 file. At least, it's never let me do it before. You have to record the song while it's playing. Also, mine isn't able to export as mp3. I can export a WAV and then convert it to mp3 by some online converter, but I'd much rather just turn up the volume a bit when it comes on. Much less of a hassle to me.

Well, it looks like Suit & Tie won't be much of a threat after all. IKYWT is back to #2 on iTunes and Thrift Shop is at #1. If TS takes the top spot on the Hot 100 next week, which seems likely, and IKYWT keeps consistent, which also seems likely, with these wonderful radio updates, do you think it'll have another chance at hitting #1 in two weeks?

Thrift Shop is #1 on On Demand Songs and #1 on sales. It's gaining quickly on radio as well, but definitely not as fast as this. This only has like 20 million AI on pop to gain before reaching Bruno's peak (which correlates to a spins per station record on pop, ever. So then Taylor's 99% not going to get that high) and she's going to be slowing down in a week or so. Thrift Shop won't be slowing down on pop (unless it stalls out) so the airplay gap will get bigger for a week then probably get smaller as Thrift Shop gets closer
This has almost no shot at #1 on the Hot 100 imo, unless she does promo.
