#8Bruno Mars - "Just The Way You Are"(2010) Peak: #1 (3 weeks) Points: 6,900,000 "Her eyes, her eyes / make the stars look like they're not shining..." If I were a girl, I'd melt of those lyrics. Genius songwriting, good vocals and flawless production made it one of the most memorable songs I heard in my life.

One of a few songs, so far, that I like from Bruno Mars :)

#7Bruno Mars - "Grenade"(2011) Peak: #1 (2 weeks) Points: 6,925,000 "Yes I would die for you baby But you won't do the same..." Story of a tragic platonic ??? love. Bruno's voice and singing technique added to this heartbreak power ballad made wonders. Started taking off well in "Just The Way You Are" run, but only peaked in January with extraordinary high points. That helped it to edge out his debut single, and it's actually the third highest ranking 2nd single. The last song with total points between six and seven millions. It's biggest accomplishment is the highest ranking song performed by a male. :'(

Good but not better than Poker Face. This again. Not sure which of the two Bruno songs I like better. I think probably JTWYA.

#6Ke$ha - "Tik Tok"(2010) Peak: #1 (3 weeks) Points: 7,095,000 "Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack 'Cause when I leave for the night, I ain't coming back." Was the biggest song of 2010, slaying my life a shit. Knew her after "Right Round" so I was waiting for that debut. The song created a good buzz for the later singles helping them to reach their worthy peaks. "Blah Blah Blah" peaked at #7 because it was killed by "Tik Tok", but "Your Love Is My Drug", "Take It Off" and her collabo with 3OH!3 "My First Kiss" all went to #1. Her EP scored another #1 "We R Who We R" and a #3 with "Blow". She had one of the most successful era, rose to be the dominant hitmaker 2010. I was expecting flawless material after that long break and she matched the expectations with her 2nd studio album, "Warrior". "Die Young" was a smash, the biggest hit of the fourth quarter last year, but "C'mon" only peaked at #4, then fell like a rock. I hope she and her team start doing some serious promo and release the right follow-up ("Thinking Of You", "Crazy Kids","Supernatural" or "Love Into The Light") this album flopping would be a big waste.

#5Lady Gaga - "Bad Romance"(2010) Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Points: 7,165,000 "I want your everything as long as it's free, I want your love, love love love, I want your love..." Lady Gaga's peak in commercial and cultural impact. Even the song itself is a lyrical-production masterpiece - the best RedOne had ever touch -, but the monumental, original and novelty music video, the phenomenon was much bigger. The song proved to be brilliant on it's own, a worldwide radio/digital smash. It's radio support in Europe was crazy and listeners wanted to hear it. The success here in Hungary happened probably because somehow the song's melody is close to the general habit/taste yet not generic (see "California Gurls" which I love too unlike most of my friends here).

#4Katy Perry - "Hot N Cold"(2008) Peak: #1 (4 weeks) Points: 7,400,000 "Someone call the doctor Got a case of a love bi-polar Stuck on a roller coaster Can't get off this ride." A huge hit in it's time, but longevity it got is even more amazing. Spent 21 weeks in the top ten, the same as "I Kissed A Girls" which was dominating longer. After being pushed out of the top ten by strong competence still gained well in points during the whole spring, had another spike in mid-summer. I'm not sure if its my favourite Katy song, but sure one of the best. It screamed summer song, so they were fool to release this for the fall, but then again I believe this was the best follow-up to IKAG.

#3Adele - "Someone Like You"(2011) Peak: #1 (7 weeks) Points: 7,505,000 "Nothing compares, no worries or cares Regrets and mistakes, they're memories made Who would have known how bittersweet this would taste?" The most successful song of 2011 by far, expected to reach #1 on this list sometimes this year. Spent the most weeks at #1 in 2011 (seven) a number hasn't been seen since "Just Dance" in early 2009, and has yet to be seen again. Funny how most of its run at the top occurred during the summer, being the only ballad doing that in seven years. Ironically it has nothing to do with my general mood that time - nor "Man Down" which was also dominant that time. Simply "Rolling In The Deep"s falling propelled it in the top ten, the same happened with "Set Fire To The Rain" after this song. "Someone Like You" returned in the top ten after the Grammy 2012, and peaked at #5 in its second wave. The album "21" was tied for my top album with "Born This Way", with the third being "Teenage Dream".

Love the inclusion of In The Shadows, can tell you're from Europe Also "White Flag", "It's Like That" (It was huge over here), "Fight For This Love", "Asereje", "Manos Al Aire", "All The Things She Said" and all the early Black Eyed Peas song like "Pump It".

"Pump It" was a moderate success in the US. Can't say that shows you are European, really.

"Asereje" was #1 in Australia? :o fuck then. #2Fergie - "Big Girls Don't Cry"(2007) Peak: #1 (5 weeks) Points: 7,700,000 "And I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket but I've got to get a move on with my life It's time to be a big girl now and big girls don't cry..." I originally planned this to be in the top 3. It's a great song, closed the Dutchess era on a big note. "Finally" khm... They should've try another album before "The E.N.D.", we'll never get any I guess. Everything is perfect about this one. The lyrics, the melody, her voice, the music video with Milo. Would've been a good move for her further solo career cause she showed another side of her which often pays off. Guess who's @ #1.

Asereje was #1 literally everywhere except the US Imo BGDC is a good song but overrated.

Great song. I'm guessing Rihanna is probably #1. Hopefully Gaga, though. Maybe Ke$ha too.

"In the Shadows" was huge in Latin America as well. I remember that this song, "Guilty" and "Sail Away" from The Rasmus received some airplay rotation too, but not as much as the former.
For obvious reasons, "Aserejé" and "Manos al Aire" were huge in Latin America because they were songs (sung) in Spanish. Regarding, "White Flag", "All the Things She Said" and "Pump It", they were also popular. Black Eyed Peas has been well received since "Where Is the Love?", so every song they released, it becomes a hit.
04. "Hot N Cold": I prefer this one instead of "I Kissed a Girl". It's so catchy and I like it so much. One of her best from One of the Boys. 03. "Someone Like You": I fell in love with this song after she performed on the BRIT Awards. I mean, her performance was flawless. It took time to be released in the US after "Rolling in the Deep" was huge. Despite reaching #1 on the Hot 100, I'm still pissed off it was #2 on the CHR/Pop and it was blocked by "Stereo Hearts". 02. "Big Girls Don't Cry": I like it, but it burnt on me because of the airplay it received.

#1Lady Gaga - "Just Dance"(2009) Peak: #1 (9 weeks) Points: 7,915,000 "Half psychotic, sick, hypnotic got my blueprint, it's symphonic half psychotic, sick, hypnotic got my blueprint electronic." Perfection. My #1 song of 2009 by far, nothing came close to it. After hearing this song for the first time I got addicted, remained my most listened track for more than six months. One of the first songs that showed the shift to electronic dance music, and like "Boom Boom Pow" still has prominent elements of the Hip-Hop/R&B music of the previous two year. The video of her first hit is already so 'Gaga', but nothing special yet, we had to wait till "Paparazzi" for the special videos.

I love you for putting that at #1. I can't describe how much I loved it in 2008, but it's basically the first song I hardcore stanned for and one of the few songs I never really got sick of. It's aged really well too and is still one of my favorites of 2008, and 2008 is my favorite year in music so that's saying a lot. And I always liked it much more than "Poker Face"; glad you agree! Saying that, "Just Dance" wouldn't be my #1 if I did a list like this, but still, it's more than deserving. Great end to a great countdown!
