Any time Mariah does a ballad with a beat, it gets compared to "We Belong Together". It's not stopping anytime soon. If this song is similar to any of her other songs, in my opinion, it's "H.A.T.E.U.," but even that one drew comparisons to "We Belong Together". If she was the one singing Tamar's "Love and War," I'm sure critics would have said "following in the vein of her comeback anthem We Belong Together...". Meanwhile, no one drew that comparison when Tamar sang it. Eh...not sure about the LAW comparison. That song didn't have the syncopated beat or snap to it like WBT, ISIL, BB, Angels Cry, and this. |

I don't hear similarities between this song and WBT at all. Just cause she finishes a song with a long note at the end does not equal WBT....which btw, that notes are completely different. I'm saying that cuase one poster said they just pasted WTB note into this song. That's ridiculous.

Mariah's/IDJ's claim that the video aims to highlight the need to protect the rainforest is such a stretch! I'm sure some graduate at IDJ had just made that up after reading the video location post-recording on some internal communication without having seen the video.
It wouldn't have been too difficult to touch upon it properly in this video. She should have been in a destroyed part of a rainforest when she was crying alone (sad times!). Then she could have been frolicking with her lover in the fresh, beautiful rainforest in her flashbacks (happy times!). Easy. Although that wouldn't have given her an opportunity to hold her boobs so much, I guess.

Love both versions of the song, but I do prefer the remix a bit more. The video is what it is- don't love it but I also don't hate it.

The only disconnect I am feeling with the video is the Trey Songz part of the video. That should have been left for the remix. It would have given her more time to feature the scenery and her scenery, lol. If she wanted to make a connection, all she had to do like I said was play the photographer of his "shoot". But this is a Mariah video, so no effort whatsoever really went into this, so this won't really help or hurt the song's performance overall.

Yeah, a lot of people felt that IDJ took too long between the release of "Obsessed" and Memoirs, and "Obsessed" was a Top 10 hit. I don't know about this song still climbing almost 3 months from now. I'm thinking they're going to put out one of the Hit Boy tracks closer to the album release though, to get something more contemporary on radio. |

I miss her storyline videos too. These recent ones are extremely mediocre.

What's up with all of her recent videos, even back from Memoirs, being slowed down while she's singing? Her mouth looks on constant slow motion. She's done that a lot in the last decade where they film the video with the song playing at high speed and then slow down the footage to match the actual tempo of the song when they're editing. Unfortunately that also contributes to the appearance of her notoriously awful lip-syncing in videos. |

There's nothing special about this song, and no, this is not similar to WBT, actually even HATE U and I Stay In Love are better than this one. And so far the performance on Itunes is rather disappointing, specially worldwide. #B reached #1 in 35 countries , this so far is #1 in 5 or less.

I don't understand why people are so perturbed by her using sex appeal in her videos. I don't even think this video she was really going for overt sex appeal, it looks like she was taking a "vulnerable" approach to it. Who really expects her to come out wearing something that covers her up? Would tha even be a Mariah video if that happened?
She looks really good for someone in her 40s and the body is still banging so why not show it off? I feel like there's always this uproar when she does a video that's meant to be sexy like she's produced some pornographic smut when in reality it's just some slightly awkward touching and pouting.

But like you said, for this video I don't even think that's the case. This is really tame compared to videos like "#Beautiful". |

I chose to watch this in the public library while waiting for a friend to get of work. I was crying so hard due to the beauty of this version that I wound up on the floor and had people asking me if I was OK.  and beyond. |
