I think it was "Bohemian Rhapsody", which was re-released in 1991 shortly after the death of Freddie Mercury (as a double A-side with "These Are the Days Of Our Lives").
Last year, that dull as dishwater song by that awkward-looking X Factor winner actually reached number one on the date of my twenty-first birthday.

Puff Daddy and Mase and Kelly Price 1998 - "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," Aerosmith 1999 - "Bailamos," Enrique Iglesias 2000 - "Doesn't Really Matter," Janet 2001 - "I'm Real," Jennifer Lopez feat. Ja Rule 2002 - "Dilemma," Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland 2003 - "Shake Ya Tailfeather," Nelly, P. Diddy, and Murphy Lee 2004 - "Lean Back," Terror Squad 2005 - "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey (finally) 2006 - "Sexyback," Justin Timberlake 2007 - "Big Girls Don't Cry," Fergie 2008 - "Whatever You Like," T.I. 2009 - "I Gotta Feeling," Black Eyed Peas 2010 - "Love the Way You Lie," Eminem feat. Rihanna 2011 - "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," Katy Perry 2012 - "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," Taylor Swift
An okay list I guess; only a few songs that I strongly dislike. But there were several years where I would have preferred the #1 either immediately preceding or immediately following the one on my b'day. I missed Mariah by one week twice :( ("Dreamlover" in 93 and "Honey" in 97) but at least I got WBT.
---- Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs - This chart has held six different names during my time on earth. That's kind of ridiculous.
Hot 100 peak for each song in parentheses
1981 - "Endless Love," Lionel Richie and Diana Ross (#1) 1982 - "Jump to It," Aretha Franklin (#24) 1983 - "Cold Blooded," Rick James (#40) 1984 - "Caribbean Queen (No More Love On the Run)," Billy Ocean (#1) 1985 - "Saving All My Love For You," Whitney Houston (#1) 1986 - "Ain't Nothin' Goin' On But the Rent," Gwen Guthrie (#42) 1987 - "Love Is a House," Force M.D.s (#78) 1988 - "Nice N Slow," Freddie Jackson (#61) 1989 - "My Fantasy," Teddy Riley feat. Guy (#62) 1990 - "Feels Good," Tony! Toni! TonΓ©! (#9) 1991 - "Addictive Love," Bebe & CeCe Winans (-) 1992 - "End of the Road," Boyz II Men (#1) 1993 - "Right Here/Human Nature," SWV (#2) 1994 - "I'll Make Love to You," Boyz II Men (#1) 1995 - "You Are Not Alone," Michael Jackson (#1) 1996 - "Hit Me Off," New Edition (#3) 1997 - "You Make Me Wanna," Usher (#2) 1998 - "The First Night," Monica (#1) 1999 - "Bills, Bills, Bills," Destiny's Child (#1) 2000 - "Wifey," Next (#7) 2001 - "Fallin'," Alicia Keys (#1) 2002 - "Dilemma," Nelly feat. Kelly Rowland (#1) 2003 - "Frontin'," Pharrell feat. Jay-Z (#5) 2004 - "Lean Back," Terror Squad (#1) 2005 - "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey (#1) 2006 - "DΓ©jΓ Vu," Beyonce feat. Jay-Z (#4) 2007 - "Let It Go," Keyshia Cole feat. Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim (#7) 2008 - "Need U Bad," Jazmine Sullivan (#37) 2009 - "Pretty Wings," Maxwell (#33) 2010 - "There Goes My Baby," Usher (25) 2011 - "I'm On One," DJ Khaled feat. Drake, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne (#10) 2012 - "No Lie," 2 Chainz feat. Drake (#24)
Now this is a sweet list. Only two songs I hate (fuck "Wifey" and its shittastic existence, and ugh "Dilemma" was sooooo overplayed), one I don't really care for ("No Lie"), and one I can't recall off the top of my head ("Jump to It"). I'm pretty surprised there are aren't more hip-hop songs, considering how dominant it's been over r&b for the past several years.

I'll expand on my earlier post and list the songs that were number one in the UK on each of my birthdays.
(As noted, "Bohemian Rhapsody/These Are the Days Of Our Lives" was number one on the day I was born)
1: "I Will Always Love You" (Whitney Houston) 2: "Babe" (Take That) 3: "Stay Another Day" (East 17) 4: "Earth Song" (Michael Jackson) 5: "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" (charity single) 6: "Teletubbies Say 'Eh-Oh!'" (Teletubbies) 7: "To You I Belong" (B*Witched) 8: "The Millennium Prayer" (Cliff Richard) 9: "Stan" (Eminem ft. Dido) 10: "Somethin' Stupid" (Robbie Williams & Nicole Kidman) 11: "Sorry Seems To Be the Hardest Word" (Blue ft. Elton John) 12: "Changes" (Ozzy Osbourne & Kelly Osbourne) 13: "Do They Know It's Christmas" (Band Aid 20) 14: "Stick-wit-U" (Pussycat Dolls) 15: "Patience" (Take That) 16: "What A Wonderful World" (Eva Cassidy & Katie Melua) 17: "Run" (Leona Lewis) 18: "Bad Romance" (Lady Gaga) 19: "The Time (Dirty Bit)" (Black Eyed Peas) 20: "Dance With Me Tonight" (Olly Murs) 21: "Impossible" (James Arthur)
There are some of these I like, some I don't like and some I simply cannot stand. I might make a similar list based on the American charts at some point.

Billboard seemingly publishes 9 days before the issue date and so I factored my selections based off of that. If it's more days than that, I go by the most recent issue before that. Hot 100: 1987: Whitney Houston - "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" 1988: Cheap Trick - "The Flame" 1989: Fine Young Cannibals - "Good Thing" 1990: New Kids on the Block - "Step by Step" 1991: Paula Abdul - "Rush, Rush" 1992: Sir Mix-a-Lot - "Baby Got Back" 1993: SWV - "Weak" 1994: All-4-One - "I Swear" 1995: TLC - "Waterfalls" 1996: Bone Thugz-N-Harmony - "Tha Crossroads" 1997: Puff Daddy f/ Faith Evans & 112 - "I'll Be Missing You" 1998: Brandy & Monica - "The Boy Is Mine" 1999: Jennifer Lopez - "If You Had My Love" 2000: Enrique Iglesias - "Be with You" 2001: Usher - "U Remind Me" 2002: Nelly - "Hot in Herre" 2003: Clay Aiken - "This Is the Night" / Beyonce f/ Jay-Z - "Crazy in Love" (I know the latter technically comes after, but I loathe the idea that simply having CD singles is enough to get you a #1 hit. My date qualification has taken care of the next few entries, though.) 2004: Usher - "Burn" 2005: Mariah Carey - "We Belong Together" 2006: Nelly Furtado f/ Timbaland - "Promiscuous" 2007: Rihanna f/ Jay-Z - "Umbrella" 2008: Katy Perry - I Kissed a Girl" 2009: The Black Eyed Peas - "Boom Boom Pow" (right before the switch to their next single) 2010: Katy Perry f/ Snoop DOgg - "California Gurls" 2011: Pitbull f/ Ne-Yo, Afrojack & Nayer - "Give Me Everything" 2012: Carly Rae Jepsen - "Call Me Maybe" My favorites would be 1989, 93, 95, 96, 00, 01, 06, 07 & 12. 9 out of 24 I really enjoy. Alternative (Billboard thru '94, R&R/Mediabase '95-on) 1989: Love and Rockets - "So Alive" 1990: World Party - "Way Down Now" 1991: Siouxsie and the Banshees - "Kiss Them for Me" 1992: The B-52's - "Good Stuff" 1993: Porno for Pyros - "Pets" 1994: Toad the Wet Sprocket - "Fall Down" 1995: U2 - "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" 1996: Dishwalla - "Counting Blue Cars" 1997: Third Eye Blind - "Semi-Charmed Life" 1998: Goo Goo Dolls - "Iris" 1999: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Scar Tissue" 2000: 3 Doors Down - "Kryptonite" 2001: Staind - "It's Been Awhile" 2002: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "By the Way" 2003: Trapt - "Headstrong" :( / (The White Stripes - "Seven Nation Army" was in the next week) 2004: Velvet Revolver - "Slither" 2005: Foo Fighters - "Best of You" 2006: Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Dani California" 2007: Linkin Park - "What I've Done" 2008: Weezer - "Pork and Beans" 2009: Linkin Park - "New Divide" 2010: Dirty Heads f/ Rome - "Lay Me Down" 2011: Foster the People - "Pumped Up Kicks" 2012: Grouplove - "Tongue Tied" Awhile back I would have appreciated some of these more. Being more jaded, some of those #1s seem obvious and perhaps obligatory. Good call on '89, 91, 93, 95 & 96 and to a lesser extent '02 (but having 3 summers in a row where they're #1 in spring/summer is anticlimactic, which is why I've axed including the other 2 years), 05, 08, 11 & 12.

Born on September 19, 1975. (Yeah, I'm old, even if I don't look or act like it.) ;) But using the "week ending" chart dates:
Billboard Hot 100: 1975: "Fame"-David Bowie 1976: "Play That Funky Music"-Wild Cherry 1977: "Best of My Love"-Emotions 1978: "Boogie Oogie Oogie"-A Taste of Honey 1979: "My Sharona"-The Knack 1980: "Upside Down"-Diana Ross 1981: "Endless Love"-Lionel Richie & Diana Ross 1982: "Abracadabra"-Steve Miller Band 1983: "Tell Her About It"-Billy Joel 1984: "Missing You"-John Waite 1985: "Money For Nothing"-Dire Straits 1986: "Stuck With You"-Huey Lewis & the News 1987: "I Just Can't Stop Loving You"-Michael Jackson/Siedah Garret 1988: "Don't Worry, Be Happy"-Bobby McFerrin 1989: "Girl I'm Gonna Miss You"-Milli Vanilli 1990: "Release Me"-Wilson Phillips 1991: "I Adore Mi Amor"-Color Me Badd
Now, switching to Radio & Records/Mediabase (I don't use the Hot 100 as a chief chart reference post-1991), the songs that were at the top of that week's top 40 countdown (American Top 40 and/or Casey's Top 40):
1992: "End of the Road"-Boyz II Men 1993: "Dreamlover"-Mariah Carey 1994: "I'll Make Love to You"-Boyz II Men 1995: "Kiss From a Rose"-Seal 1996: "I Love You Always Forever"-Donna Lewis 1997: "Semi-Charmed Life"-Third Eye Blind 1998: "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing"-Aerosmith 1999: "Genie In a Bottle"-Christina Aguilera 2000: "Jumpin' Jumpin"-Destiny's Child 2001: "Hit 'Em Up Style"-Blu Cantrell 2002: "Dilemma"-Nelly f/Kelly Rowland 2003: "Where is the Love"-Black Eyed Peas f/Justin Timberlake 2004: "Pieces of Me"-Ashlee Simpson 2005: "Listen To Your Heart"-DHT 2006: "Sexyback"-Justin Timberlake 2007: "The Way I Are"-Timbaland f/Keri Hilson 2008: "Forever"-Chris Brown 2009: "I Gotta Feeling"-Black Eyed Peas 2010: "Dynamite"-Taio Cruz 2011: "I Wanna Go"-Britney Spears 2012: "Give Your Heart a Break"-Demi Lovato 2013: "Blurred Lines"-Robin Thicke 2014: "Boom Clap"-Charli XCX 2015: "Lean On"-Major Lazer f/DJ Snake & MO 2016: "Cold Water"-Major Lazer f/Justin Bieber & MO 2017: "Attention"-Charlie Puth 2018: "Better Now"-Post Malone 2019: "Senorita"-Shawn Mendes & Camila Caballo 2020: "Watermelon Sugar"-Harry Styles
Of these, my 2nd, 4th, 18th, 22nd, 31st, 35th, 43rd, and 45th birthday #1s (1977, 79, 93, 97, 2006, 10, 18, and 20) are my favorites. I cannot stand the 13th or 14th (1988-89).

I'm assuming our birthdays are always on the same issue date, no? YES. Fuck, I wasted so much time making that list, then.
