The impressions for those country songs are OOC. Country has to be the biggest radio format other than Top 40, no?

Interesting Billboard Hot 100 news: Gary Trust @gthot20 Fun for @americanidol tonite: w/2 billboard Hot 100 debuts this week, @nickiminaj passes Mariah Carey (1) for most between them, 46 to 45. (thanks to Nicki's feature on the TIGOY remix)

Is there a reason why "Cruise" isn't showing up in the Top 20 despite it being #15 on Hot 100 Airplay last week?

That's old news. That happened on last week's chart. Oh. The link I had didn't list Nicki on "Tonight I'm Getting Over You." Edit: Yeah, Billboard isn't listing Nicki Minaj on TIGOY: www.billboard.com/charts/hot-100?page=8Huh, now they are. Did Nicki's team just pay off Billboard to list her on TIGOY even though the remix version didn't get enough points to do so JUST so she could overtake Mariah? Or did Billboard really just screw up and the TIGOY remix really make up over 50% of its points? I like the first option better because it's fucking hilarious.

^On Thursday, Billboard reported on it, but it must have been an error leaving Minaj off the chart credit. I had e-mailed inquiring about why she wasn't listed on the online chart, and was told they'd check it out. So, they must have done so.
The rate these hip-hop acts rack up "featurings" is crazy. But, for all-time-act charts, though, it doesn't really help in terms of points. For instance, that No. 100 entry- the five featured acts get just 6% of whatever inverse points it racks up for its full chart run.

Ughhhhhh that 2003 flashback reminds me of why I hated 2003-2005 in "Pop" music.

The only songs I briefly recall in that 2003 flashback are In Da Club, Evanescence, Three Doors Down and Justin. The other 6 "top 10" songs stir no memories.

"Trini Trent @thelavalizard 12m I was right: Mariah's streams for #Beautiful were incorrectly attributed to another artist. That's why it didn't debut higher on Billboard." More relevant for last week, but...

I know all but one (Fabolous) from 2003 - and actually it's not that I don't know that one, it's just that I can't recall how it sounds and don't care enough to look it up. But I recognize the title. (Fabolous' entire career has always been a little bit of a mystery to me.) He's the only one who looks out of place to me.
21 Questions is one of Fiddy's signature hits (In Da Club being his biggest, of course). It ended up getting on my damn nerves, b/c it was one of those where pop was late to picking it up. So when urban finally decided to let it die pop had it in heavy rotation. At the time it even seemed to be as big, or almost as big, a hit as IDC. IDC of course proved to be the bigger hit in the long run.
Candy Shop is the more forgettable 50 Cent #1 than 21Q IMO; pretty much the only reason I remember it is b/c other Kelly fans remember it as the song that blocked SUBG. If someone isn't complaining about how SUBG 'should' have been a #1 hit then I have no other reason to recall CS.

I recognize all but one from 2003 (Fabolous), but I'm sure I'd recognize if I heard it. Scratch that. I actually remember now. So, 10/10 for me.

Can you imagine if downloads had been included and been strong in 2003? I wonder if the top 10 would have been radically different....? I suspect there would have been slightly less Hip Hop.

If downloads had been available and the primary format back to 1955, Glee, Taylor Swift and Lil Wayne would not be the career leaders in hits

Actually I think 2000-2003 is the stretch where downloads would have just reinforced urban dominance. Generally I figure downloads would have trended most in favor of whatever was going on with pop radio, but for some years in the 2000s this would not have made a huge difference since that is the time they dumped all the teeny-bopper pop and overloaded on urban music.

The Fabolous hit is easily my favorite song in the Top 10 from ten years ago; one of my favorite feel-good hip-hop/R&B hybrids of summer '03. An underrated rapper in general, I'd consider "Can't Let You Go" in a two-way tie with "Breathe" as his best song. It's well worth the effort to seek it out.
