Yess, finally "We Found Love" reached 5 mil. in sales! Now that certain somebody trolling one of the H100 threads a couple weeks ago saying that Rihanna is a bad digital seller for not having a single lead 5 million seller needs a new excuse ;) I thought the argument was the speed at which her hits sell, compared to other songs with roughly the same amount of airplay peak and longevity, not that she hadn't hit a specific mark yet. It was a given that WFL would hit 5 million eventually. (I don't know why I'm responding to this because I don't actually GAF what either side of the argument was...but saying she's a 'poor' seller is inaccurate IMO. Closer to the truth is something like she is not as monumental a seller as one would think based on airplay and the amount of exposure she typically gets. That is all.)

I'm glad someone else thinks this way too. Anyway, yay for Zedd cracking the top 40 here and also Ed Sheeran moving up with Lego House. It would be nice if that cracked the top 40 too.

I'm glad someone else thinks this way too. He brought it up four or five different times that week, much to my annoyance; I don't recall articles making nearly as much of a fuss about Rihanna or Katy whenever they made shameless bids for #1. Though goodness knows people on message boards did it enough for them...maybe he thinks he needs to harp on Bruno b/c no one else has?

I love Paul's column but he does seem to get fixated on things at times. For example:
“Cruise” spends its 12th week at #1 on Hot Country Songs. That’s the longest run at #1 since Buck Owens’ “Love’s Gonna Live Here” spent 16 weeks on top from October 1963 through February 1964. This is the longest run at #1 by an ongoing duo since “Slipping Around” by Margaret Whiting & Jimmy Wakely logged 17 weeks on top in 1949-1950. Whiting & Wakely teamed for nine top 10 country hits from 1949 to 1951. Florida Georgia Line’s follow-up, “Get Your Shine On,” tops the 1 million mark this week.
He's updated this stat every column for a month now. We get it. "Cruise" has been number one for a long time. This doesn't need to be mentioned again until it passes 17 weeks at number one.

discounting a song = "shameless"? Paul's certainly entitled to his opinion, but I think "shameless" is a tad dramatic and overly negative. $0.69 is a generous discount, sure...but since WIWYM was past the 4-week point, couldn't his label have (theoretically) charged $0.01 and all those sales still would've counted for charting purposes?
when I think "shameless", I think of something like "hey fans! wanna help Bruno get to No. 1 on the next Hot 100? well guess what - if you email us a copy of your iTunes receipt showing that you purchased the song this week, you'll receive a fully-nude picture of Bruno with YOUR name written on his manhood with a Sharpie! act now folks, we've only got a week to rack up dem sales!"

Shouldn't Mariah have two weeks of sales in that total?

No kidding. I await the day Bruno's phone gets "hacked" and photos get leaked on twitter for 20 seconds. What a treat!

I think shameless is an accurate way to describe it.
