Zebra's Top 100 - August 24, 2014 - Week 64, Week 34 (Repost)

Commentary:

Too bad this is a late chart, it's really exciting to see the shake-ups (finally) lol. 

Anyways, the top two is comprised of debuts. Taylor Swift roars in at number one with "Shake It Off". It is the first number one debut since "Habits", which is the longest charter this week at 33 weeks. How long can it go? We'll see. Anyways, Taylor narrowly edges out Ella Eyre's "Comeback", which was my initial choice for number one this week. I love "Comeback" even more than "If I Go", which moves 20 to 17 this week. Don't count Ella out, as Taylor mainly debuted on top based on the sheer amount of overplay by friends. Lol. "Boom Clap" falls from 1 to 3, with Peking Duk's "High" moving from number 9 to 4. This week was the most competitive I've had in a long while, as I wanted at least five songs at number one (the entire top 4 + "Benediction", which debuts at number 14)."No Mediocre" pushes the rest of the previous top five down, as it edges 8 to 5. This causes "Love Runs Out" to fall from 1 to 9, "I Got U" to fall from 3 to 6, "You Don't Know What to Do" to fall from 4 to 7, and "Maps" to fall from 5 to 12. Lana Del Rey inches from 20 to 8, although I doubt she'll go higher. "Black Widow" rounds out the top ten, as it moves from 13 to 10.

"Bang Bang" makes a massive jump from number 65 to 16, and she is looking to blast into the top ten this next week. "Break Free" fell from 18 to 30, but it looks to rebound as Ariana takes over next week. I may even allow up to two album tracks to debut, as several of them have been racking up several plays. Speaking of album tracks, Beyonce's "Haunted" debuts at number 57. It is my choice for the 5th single (after "XO" (No. 1), "Drunk in Love" (No. 6), "Partition" (No. 1), "Pretty Hurts" (No. 12), and "***Flawless" (No. 7)), and it will be seen if it can reach the top ten like four of it's predecessors. Other debuts this week are: Hot Natured's "Benediction" at number 14 (their first entry, a strong top ten contender), Chromeo's "Jealous" at number 58 (first entry), Klingande's "Punga" at number 61 (second entry, after "Jubel", which peaked at number 10), Starset's "My Demons" at number 62 (first entry), Indiana's "Heart on Fire" at number 66 (second entry, "Solo Dancing" peaked at number 1), Sam Smith's "I'm Not the Only One" at number 87 (his fifth entry, after "La La La", "Latch", "Money on My Mind", and "Stay With Me"), and finally Big Data's "Dangerous" at number 91 (first entry).

Me too. I was hooked on first listen. "Black Widow" should keep doing well. Lol I know. It's lucky it held this week with how competitive it was, but it is a nice coincidence lol. All of the others should keep rising. I like "Punga", even though it's no "Jubel" imo. It should do well. I'm sure "Flashlight" will rebound. When is that, exactly? Anyways, thank you Juanito!

Commentary:

• New number one this week! Ella Eyre's "Comeback" moves from 2 to 1, dethroning Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off". "Shake It Off" swaps places with "Comeback", slipping from 1 to 2. This year has had a lot of one week number ones, and they are as follows: "Habits", "All of Me", "Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)", "Come With Me Now", "Problem", "Kings", "Solo Dancing", "Hideaway", "Boom Clap", "Shake It Off", and now "Comeback". I think this is close to a record number of one week number ones. I guess I just like too many songs. Lol. Anyways, "High" moves from 4 to 3, a strong contender for the title of next number one. "Bang Bang" by Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj, last week's greatest gainer, jumps from 16 to 4 in an unexpected late-week infatuation with the song. It is Ariana's third (after "The Way" and "Problem"), Jessie's fifth (after "Price Tag", "Who's Laughing Now", "Domino", and "Nobody's Perfect"), and Nicki's sixth (after "Super Bass", "Your Love", "Starships", "Pound the Alarm", and "Moment 4 Life" - I may be missing at least one). "Benediction" by Hot Natured (first top ten) jumps from 15 to 5 this week, and it is another strong number one contender. This causes "No Mediocre" to fall from 5 to 6 and "Boom Clap" to fall from 3 to 7. "Black Widow" inches up from 10 to 8 this week, and Azealia Banks (second top ten after "212") enters the top ten with "Heavy Metal and Reflective", which jumps from 11 to 9. "I Got U" falls from 6 to 10, rounding out the top ten. 

• Below the top ten, "Break Free" blasts from number 30 to 11, outpeaking itself. Ten songs debut and one song re-enters. Two notable debuts come from Ariana Grande, with "Love Me Harder" debuting at number 39 and "Be My Baby" debuting at number 69. I have decided to be a little more flexible with album tracks charting, as I'm already charting "Haunted" and because "Love Me Harder" was my most played song this week, with over 40 plays. Thus, I will allow them if I love them enough, but no more than five total. I don't want my chart to be too congested. Anyways, Charli XCX's "Break the Rules" debuts at number 51. Sam Smith re-enters with "Stay With Me" at number 58, caused by an increase in plays from my roommate. "You Haunt Me" debuts at number 81, their second charter after "Gold" peaked at number 11. "Say You Love Me" by Jessie Ware debuts at number 82. "Come a Little Closer" by Cage the Elephant debuts at number 83, albeit really late. "Get Hurt" by the Gaslight Anthem debuts at number 84, and "Turn Up the Speakers" debuts at number 85. "Words As Weapons" debuts at number 90, becoming Seether's first charted entry. The final debut comes from Eric Prydz with "Liberate" at number 98. "Habits" remains on the chart in its 34th week on. "Girl in a Country Song" makes the biggest jump, from number 96 to 57. "This Is How We Do" falls from 46 to 96 and is the biggest faller.

Zebra's Top 100 - September 7, 2014 - Week 66, Week 36

Commentary:

I hate being late on this, lol. Anyways, here my chart is this week. A few points to note:

- "Comeback" holds at number one for a second week.
- The entire top five remains stagnant, unfortunately. This is the first time this has happened ever.
- Azealia Banks moves from 9 to 6 with "Heavy Metal and Reflective". Ariana Grande moves into the top ten with TWO songs this week, as "Love Me Harder" blasts from 39 to 7 and "Break Free" moves from 11 to 8. "Break Free" has had a weird run these past few weeks (...18-30-11-08...). "No Mediocre" falls from 6 to 9. "Prayer in C" bookends the top ten as it jumps from 32 to 10, just barely beating out "Cool Kids". 
- Four songs debut, and I need new music: "Blame" at number 44, "True Love" at number 88, "Wild Life" at number 96, and "About You" at number 97.
- "Habits" is still the longest charter with 35 weeks on. Two other songs have more than 25 weeks on, "Sonnentanz (Sun Don't Shine)" (30), and "Fancy" (26). Several other songs are just now at 20 weeks or will be soon, so longevity is increasing.
- "Love Me Harder" is the biggest jumper and "Amnesia" is the biggest dropper.

Zebra's Top 100 - September 14, 2014 - Week 67, Week 37

Commentary:

I'm not late this week! I'm so proud of myself. I actually believe I'm early.

Ella Eyre holds at number one for a third week with "Comeback". It thus becomes my longest running number one since "Changes". The rest of the top five isn't a stable, however. "High" by Peking Duk/Nicole Millar rises from 3 to 2, aiming for the number one spot. "Benediction" by Hot Natured also gains, moving from 5 to 3. Two album tracks reside in my top ten this week, and one is in the top five. "Love Me Harder" by Ariana Grande/The Weeknd (hopefully it gets single treatment) moves from 7 to 4 with a great shot at going even higher next week. Beyonce's "Haunted" is the second album track, moving from 48 to 6 (also nabbing the greatest gainer honors). It looks to be my next number one. I was relaying her latest album and I fell in love with it. It may be my third favorite, after "XO" and "Partition". Anyways, Taylor Swift's "Shake It Off" falls from 2 to 5 as I slowly start to get more annoyed by it and as I start to fall in love with more songs. "Heavy Metal and Reflective" (Azealia Banks) and "Bang Bang" (Jessie J, Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj) both fall this week, with drops of 6 to 7 and 4 to 8, respectively. "Prayer in C" moves from 10 to 9 and Echosmith's "Cool Kids" moves from 11 to 10. 

Below the top ten, "Habits" remains the longest charter. It is now at 36 weeks (and still gaining!). It is to be seen if it can make it to a full year on the charts. Anyways, "Haunted" is the greatest gainer and Ben Rector's "Beautiful" (a great song, check it out if you haven't heard it) is the greatest faller of the week, falling from 26 to 50. Eleven songs debut (a nice change of pace from last week's 4) this week, with the highest being Alesso/Tove Lo's "Heroes" at number 79. 

The bubbling under chart, recurrents chart, and tags make comebacks this week. These may not be weekly features, but I do intend on trying to post them more often. I feel that they provide great insight into what I am listening to over the course of the week.
