^Yes- if it weren't, same-sex marriage would be legal in every state.

That's just a legal issue. It's no longer a wedge issue and a majority of Americans believe it should be legalized.
The New World Order immigration reform bill is controversial.

Doesn't change the fact that the song is 'controversial'

Marriage Equality was controversial in 2004. It's not controversial today. What world are you living in? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel America is polarized in social issues right now (not that it hasn't been before).

Don't we already have a 'gay marriage' thread? I hope this thread stays on course and discusses this weeks chart.

Discussion will move on to the Aug. 24 chart soon enough. :)
Wonder how high Ms. Alecia Moore-Hart featuring Lily Rose Beatrice Allen Cooper will get; it may break the hot streak that The Truth About Love singles have enjoyed thus far.

That's just a legal issue. It's no longer a wedge issue and a majority of Americans believe it should be legalized. I'm sorry, but no. I'm guessing you must live in a blue state or not even in America at all, because someone who lives in a state that flips from red to blue all the time or in a red state would highly disagree with you. It's far from just a legal issue. Your comment just doesn't make a bit of sense. If it was just a legal issue and the majority believed it should be legalized, then it would be legal in every state. However, it went from banned to legal to banned again in California, a VERY liberal state. I think you need to do your research a bit more because there's people over 30 too, you know. It's still a very controversial topic in the US. The only topics that are even as controversial as gay marriage right now are gun control and health care. What world are you living in? Maybe I'm wrong but I feel America is polarized in social issues right now (not that it hasn't been before). This is what makes me think Push the Button isn't American. Gay marriage isn't as controversial outside the US in many countries.

Colorado - it's changing here. I think #11 is great for Same Love, but it would have been nice to see Macklemore's top ten streak continue. If only it could have beaten out Maroon 5 this week. I think #11 is going to have to be its peak.

It makes no sense to me that "Same Love" can be simultaneously top ten in both sales and airplay, and still not make the top ten on the Hot 100. Ridiculous.

Bandz- the numbers USA Today used to reported back in the day did not match up with the final numbers for Hot 100 Airplay. WBT's airplay sum was 202m for the 7/2/05 chart; then 212m for the 7/9 issue (where it was bulleted); it was not bulleted on the 7/16 Hot 100 Airplay chart, but was on the 7/23 chart. It then wasn't on the 7/30 chart. There was no mention of the figure beyond 212m, if it had been 223m, it would have bee nreported. USA Today's source was BDS though, right? Because Mediabase's peak for We Belong Together is 254.629 million.

Thank the #40 ranking in streaming And people also tend to forget that it's barely top ten in sales and in airplay + doing poorly in streaming. There's your reason Bondz. A #11 peak is great, not the end of the world. Dev's "In The Dark" also peaked there despite peaking top 10 in airplay and doing well in sales. There were several #12 and #13 peaks, they aren't any better.

I believe it was the source, Bandz, but, like said, the numbers never matched up with what was reported in Billboard (I recall other releases having higher numbers in USA Today, as well).
