This has yet to fall off the Hot 100 since debuting right?

This really is the "Dark Horse" of the era. The chose a great title. Can't wait for the multi-format major slayage early next year.

I applaud Katy for sticking to her guns by releasing "Unconditionally" knowing it probably wouldn't be the biggest song off the album because it seems that song is so special to her.

I applaud Katy for sticking to her guns by releasing "Unconditionally" knowing it probably wouldn't be the biggest song off the album because it seems that song is so special to her. It makes me crazy when some people here are criticizing Katy claiming that she and her label made this catastrophic mistake by releasing this and sticking with it despite it having really low sales and slow growing airplay that doesn't seem to be changing. I do want this to do well. I really do. But every single she releases doesn't have to go to #1 and set 10 new records. It's nice when those things happen, but if all she does is do that and after a while it stops, those same people would be saying that she is over because she doesn't anymore. I know some find this to be a bland release compared to something else, say "Dark Horse", but like you said, it's really special for her. She can't always release mainstream super radio friendly stuff all the time. When people look back on Katy's recording career 10 or 20 years from now, this will have a certain significance in terms of its lyricism and how it showed her artistry.

Two stations (one in Indy, one in Houston) have this on power rotation with over 100 weekly spins.

This has yet to fall off the Hot 100 since debuting right? Correct. It was #47 last week. I suspect that it'll remain stable or move up a bit. In other news: US Spotify Top 50:12. Dark Horse: 928,000 weekly plays 34. Unconditionally: 449,000 weekly plays

They should of released this instead of "Unconditionally",This could of had a similar run as a single that "I Knew You Were Trouble" had and that was a major promo single for Taylor last year that later became the 2nd CHR/Pop single. This is similar in that it is Katy's biggest promo single off her album.

I don't think the label is going to have any choice but to release this next. The ground support is too strong.

#23 on iTunes. Hopefully it won't run out of gas by the time it officially gets released next year. :( MTE. Hopefully they don't wait too long. Second week of January would be ideal.

Haha no sorry, no confirmation. But the fact that it's clearly top 50 on the format and actually getting somewhere warrants some proper pop forum love. :)

I'm looking forward to see how many weeks this will get on the Hot 100 when it's all said and done.

I really wonder what they're thinking with all these "tests" I'm reading about. This has got to be pretty obvious to them.

LOL, while it being top 50 does warrant it a pop thread, we must remember that it is still just an album track. However, if I were Capitol, the minute "Unconditionally" loses its bullet, this gets an adds date. The good thing, too, is that "Unconditionally" is still going strong. While it may not be ripping up the charts, it's still top 20 on iTunes and top ten on pop with a very healthy bullet. I do think "Unconditionally" won't survive the freeze, though, and if I'm right, mid-January will be the perfect time to strike with "Dark Horse." Also, what's great about "Dark Horse" is its incredible staying power. It's pretty clear that everyone wants it as a single, so it will continue to wait in the wings like this, ever so slowly gaining. All it needs is for "Unconditionally" to go away, and this will speed right up to the top. However, "Unconditionally" shall not die pre-maturely, either, because the longer it lasts, the longer the entire era lasts.

Difference was, 'Pour It Up' was actually a single; they just never followed through with the push to pop radio. So far there's been no intention of making this a single beyond the iTunes promo thing.

Like someone said before, the perfect strategy to keep this going after it's released as a single is to release another version sans Juicy J. I'm pretty sure more than half the people who already bought the single/album would like to get rid of the obnoxious rapping and maybe get a bridge as an extra

It's laughable how badly radio wants this.
The public chose it through sales and now radio is choosing it through radio play, and even after all of that both she and her label want two singles that aren't 'Dark Horse' lol

I'd kind of understand the label's resistance to releasing "Dark Horse" if this album was some drastically different style from Teenage Dream and they wanted to get away from that (since it's basically "E.T." part 2), but it's not.
