It's laughable how badly radio wants this. The public chose it through sales and now radio is choosing it through radio play, and even after all of that both she and her label want two singles that aren't 'Dark Horse' lol What are these two singles, if you don't mind me asking, and where are you getting this info? I'm feeling out of the loop here Katy wanted 'Birthday'. The label wanted 'This Is How We Do'. Everybody else in the world wanted 'Dark Horse', so 'Dark Horse' wins. I read it tonight but I don't remember where I read it. Probably here lol.

Haha awesome, thanks :) Just wasn't sure about the label's choice, but I read about Katy wanting Birthday here as well

I could see this turning into a "Gone." Strict MD's aren't going to play an album cut, even if Z100 adds it, and the stations playing "Dark Horse" instead will probably have a higher burnout rate for callout once it's actually released third (if it's the actual single--Katy usually gets what she wants).
Also, the only songs the label is testing are "Birthday" and "Walking On Air," so I don't know how this rumor regarding "This Is How We Do" came into existence.

Isn't it possible they are testing for the 4th single? I can't see how they would avoid releasing this next with how well it is selling.

But I'm sure they let Unconditionally have its run till January at least, so this is all a bit premature.
I really hope Birthday is not a single, to me it's one of the fillers of the album and is too Teenage Dream alongside International Smile.

How many spots will this move up on Pop and Rhythmic tomorrow (due to certain songs going recurrent and being purged)?

Isn't it possible they are testing for the 4th single? I can't see how they would avoid releasing this next with how well it is selling. Of course. I just wouldn't jump to any conclusions yet. Katy is headstrong, and she has said "Unconditionally" is her favorite. Even if it continues to underperform, I can't see her giving up on it soon. I think "Birthday" is a fantastic single choice, whenever released. I see "Birthday" as the "Teenage Dream" and "Dark Horse" as the "ET" to Prism, except I didn't like "ET" nearly as much (and I know I'm in the minority). I think "International Smile" sounds beyond dated and really uneventful. The bottom line, however, is that "Dark Horse" should have been the second single. The public has been thirsty for it since the 25 second clip was released back in August.

A huge gain of pop audience for such small spins.
Can't wait to see the adds today (if any).

Seeing how Unconditionally is her worst performiing single since TOY, they seriously should release Dark Horse next. Birthday will just kill even more momentum. This is How We Do can be 4th. After that, end this era.

After that, end this era. No way. Birthday >>>> This Is How We Do and it would never kill momentum. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it will flop. I think it's the standout smash of the album. Who knows what sales would be like if Birthday was a promo single instead of Walking On Air. It might just be lingering around the same as Dark Horse is. TIHWD will be released anyways. They are going at least 5 singles deep, especially since the album is selling really well. The 5 singles are obvious, and they still can go even deeper with Legendary Lovers, Walking On Air, Ghost, or even Double Rainbow. The era has only just begun.

I heard this on amp radio this morning after they said it was new music. That, plus seeing this on the first page made me think it was going to be the 3rd single. Guess not lol. Radio definitely wants this to be the next single.

3 more pop adds. 22 total. that is pretty significant actually for a promo single. Hopefully they just say the word and release it. It's blatantly obvious by now.

"Who You Love" appears to be getting an official push from John Mayer's camp, so I'd personally like it if they pushed that (I miss John on pop radio :() while making this one official and letting it work its way up as well.

I hear Who You Love on AC radio all the time. It's not utterly fantastic like I want, but it's kinda nice and smooth. Certainly not bad by any means. Very boring, but very AC.

#23 on iTunes. Hopefully it won't run out of gas by the time it officially gets released next year. :( i agree. they should juat service this to radio mid to late january and have a video ready early february and let it smash and perform uncondtionally amd roar at the grammys for a nice little boost to both and then perform dark horse at the billboard music awards at its peak radio audience and sales. then they can focus on summer single birthday fall single this is how we do winter single legendary lover spring single walking on air or whatever and summer closer ghost.

I just heard this on the radio for the first time today and it's seriously the first Katy single in years that I was actually excited to hear being played. :)
