I really wish a male artist would knock some of these B**ches from top radio play. and sales. The only thing even close is a hip hop artist who sucks, or I should say 2 . Then there is Avicii who should have already been #1 like 2 weeks ago but people have no real taste in America. Even Justin Timberlake can't get top airlay or sales . This country is goin to hell in a handbasket when it comes to musical taste. Uhh, have you been in a coma the last 3 months? A certain gentleman named Robin Thicke just topped the chart for 12 weeks!!!

*sigh*
Taste is subjective, there is no "better" taste. Everyone's taste is good to them, and you simply cannot call your taste better than others like its a goddamn fact.

Dat crunk top 10 from 2003 made me groan with unpleasant memories.
I know I say this every few months with the flashback top 10s, but I really hated most of the songs in late 2003-mid 2005 popular music.

That is very true, soufflemousse- now, if you're saying that something's more acclaimed or revered than something else in the critical scope of things, there's "factual" info to back that up, via critical lists/consensus, etc.
"half breed" was No. 1 40 years ago- we're approaching 50 years since Cherilyn scored her first hits. :o

^Yes- didn't notice that. In both of her marriages, the couple that recorded together did not stay together (she and Allman released a duet album, Two the Hard Way, in 1977).

The funny thing is that she was still married to Sonny in 1973 when this chart occurrence happened. Even funnier is this gem from 1976, where she is lipsyncing to her hit about getting knocked up on her and Sonny's show, after they were divorced, while pregnant with Greg Allman's child, after he had left her.

08 10 Whenever I Call You "Friend" - Kenny Loggins w/Stevie Nicks
Stevie Nicks was not "credited" on WICYF - the 45 just shows Kenny Loggins. Same on Billboard. Check out Google Books for issue date September 30, 1978 when it was #12. (Very similar to "Easy Lover" which didn't credit Phil Collins until very end.) It's just funny to look back at all the songs that had major artists on them with uncredited vocals back them - no matter how significant compared to more recent era where 1-line can get you on the chart.
The funny backstory with WICYF is that it was co-written by Melissa Manchester and Kenny Loggins. They flipped a coin as to who would record it. Manchester said she was going to ask Kenny since it obviously made sense based on the song, etc. I always found it ironic, the Loggins kind of dissed Manchester on a song about being "Friends."

70's pop music was so bad it was good. "Half-Breed" and "Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves" are two guilty pleasures on my Ipod. "Seasons In The Sun", "Billy Don't Be A Hero" and "The Night Chicago Died" are others.

How about the longevity of Phil Phillips Gone Gone Gone. Doesn't ever get talked about here but if sales ever lined up with airplay it could have possibly cracked a week or so in the top 10. Still a great 2nd single from his debut album. Few AI winners had close to a 2nd single success like this.

I love Philip Phillips. He's made quite an impact. I work at a restaurant with live music, and the bands almost always play both his singles and the crowds know the words, especially Home. He seems to have respect and not just "EW, he's from American Idol!" blah blah blah...
