The next and final single from Twain's GH goes for adds at country radio only on May 2ndIn a press release from Mercury released during the GH promotional run, it says this about "Quitter": "I Ain't No Quitter," [is] a country foot stomper harking back to her twangier days. "These songs would've been the beginning of my next record," says Twain. The video for the song is finished and has been for some time. It is rumored to have been shot in Mexico. No release date for it as of yet. I Ain't No Quitter Full ClipI think it's funny how the "Party For Two" thread got closed and so did the "Don't!" thread. Wonder if this one will get closed... This thread is here ONLY to discuss the song and the album. Please do not drag other artists, etc. into this thread!

I am on the fence with this song. It's very twangy, I love her tawngier stuff just not sure of the song yet. I haven;t spent enough time listening to it. I tended to lean more to PF2 and D!
I believe she filmed the video in LA since there are a pictures of her there with Mutt and Eja. They were said to have come from the video shoot.

It's not the video, its a WMA file and I know it takes a while...later I will try to get the MP3 so it's smaller.
The video was edited in L.A., I know that. The location is all rumor.

No matter what happens, this thread is going to turn into a Shania ARGUMENT. Please everyone, have a civil discussion.

I don't like it at all. Now I haven't thought much of Shania artistically since Come On Over, but alot of her songs are just fun and catchy like I'm Gonna Getcha Good and Party For Two (even if they aren't country music), but this one and Don't are just so dull to me (and lacking any real vocal strength). On The Woman In Me (a fabulous CD in my opinion), her country music sounded authentic, but now on this song its like a computer is trying to make country music, just very synthesized sounding. I really really really hope that her next CD goes back to the days of Woman In Me where she used her distinct voice to sing, and her songs didn't all sound like they were made by a computer. Country music can be upbeat and catchy like Any Man of Mine and Whose Bed without sounding so synthesized.

I like this OK, but I don't know how well it'll do. This and "Don't" are probably my least favorite out of all her singles since TWIM.

"Quitter" is a lifeless song with very weak vocals. I doubt this one will do much on the charts.

This song has grown on me a lot...when I first heard I didn't really like it but I guess it is one of those songs which you will either love or hate the sound to. The vocals don't really do Shania much justice, they fit the song pretty well and all and it is catchey but Shania is capable of much better vocals. They only sound the way they do because Shania recorded all 3 of the new songs straight after coming off her world tour where she did strain her voice! Just want to make that clear. ;) Btw people can't say this isn't country... ...it is very country....maybe even too country for my taste. I'm not sure how well it will fare on country radio...we'll have to wait and see. I think it will easily crack the top 20 but getting any higher then that will depend on 4 things, 1. Whether or not the song gets promotion. 2. Whether Mercury support the song or not. 3. How biased country radio is...the song is country so they can't use that excuse this time around. 4. Are large markets going to boycott Shania again like they did with Don't!? ...although that could all fall back to point #2. Good luck Shania! ;)

The other interesting side note is that when this song comes out, Shania will have two different singles on two separate formats. That could effect sales, we'll have to see.. ;)

That could effect sales, we'll have to see.. ;) To be honest, I dont think having a hit on country radio would really mean much. Airplay charts hardly ever reflect what the people want to hear or buy anymore so the chances of Shania even charting high are slim seeing how she has to fight the politics. ;) Shania's GH has already sold extremely well and will continue to sell for years to come seeing how it is a Greatest Hits album.

I hate this song. It's pure crap, and I wish Shania went back to her TWIM days...

Great song!!
I think this song will, like all shania songs, start off strong... I see this making top 20 in about 5 -10 weeks..... with 2 possible outcomes...
a) Mercury doesn't promote it... It isn't performed at any awards show, or talkshow......radio doesn't warm up... Peak of probably around #17..
b) Mercury promotes it..... Shania performs at the ACM's, and at at least one talk show.. radio gives her a chance... Peak in the top 10.. Im guessing 6...

I love I Ain't No Quitter. Her vocal delivery throughout the song is great! I burned myself out on it though.
I can't wait till new album news comes out.

How would a traditional country song get played on MTV? I think the last video to get played there was I'm Gonna Getcha Good! And why you people think that Shania would do that CMT skit to promote a song is beyond me... Hey! "Quitter" is already rising on Mediabase! Can't wait for it to flop!

I don't really like this at all. I agree. It's actually one of her worst songs ever, I can't even get through the song without skipping it.

This song is terrible. I have stated many times on this board that I love Shania. I could care less if she makes pop stuff or country. I listen to all types of music from Disturbed to Nickel Creek so wherever you place her dosen't bother me. I still like (LOVE) her music. That being said I was hoping she would let this song just lay there on the GH album and move on. It's a really bad song. The lyrics are sad at best. I can't wait for the next album to see what direction she takes but in my opinion this is not the way to go for her.

I personally hope that Shania goes in this style to the next album. By style I mean music..I think the song is catchy and all that, but the swing sound, man if Shania would do an album like LAW's "There's More Where That Came From" I could die happy.

Oh..some info on the video for you: SHANIA DOWN IN MEXICO TOBY KEITH belts out that ‘What happens down in Mexico, stays in Mexico’, but in SHANIA’s case everything that went down in Mexico we’re here to tell you. Recently Shania was in Tijuana, Mexico to shoot the upcoming video for ‘Ain’t No Quitter.’ The video was shot over two days and only one with Shania. Shania’s inspiration for the clip came from Urban Cowboy and the director took her idea and vamped it up for 2005. The director also mixed up the dances so it wasn’t all country and two steppin’. The best part is that it all takes place in the setting of a country bar. Now as you can imagine there aren’t many country bars in Mexico so the director converted a steak house restaurant into the bar you will see in the video. He even brought in the bar, the dancers and all of the neon from Los Angeles. We can’t wait to see it! www.cmtcanada.com/cmt_centra.../index.asp#8460

I like Shania, a lot, but I hate this song, but it's more country than "Party For Two" and "Don't!", so I could see this going top 20.

I like Shania, a lot, but I hate this song, but it's more country than " Party For Two" and " Don't!"... But that's not saying much, is it? The three songs on the Greatest Hits album are impure crapola designed to get on MTV and VH1. Too bad those stations dismissed Shnaia long ago... not even pop radio wants her washed up pop crap.
