Shania's GH is almost outselling Tim's studio album that opened with 700k units. That's sad isn't it. And the fact that his GH had no new songs is a sad thing, nothing new for the fans to enjoy while he's making a new album...did you know Curb made Tim put the GH out because they thought his current album sucked and they made him go back in and re-record?
I guarantee you that it would have sold just as much. She is more of a superstar than Tim will ever be, just face the facts: bigger album sales, more fans, bigger tours.
That's great that Tim's continues to sell on the Country Catalogue where you only have to sell, what 100 units to be #1?
How long did it stay on the actual BB200? Come On Over re-entered every Christmas and UP! spend just over 100 weeks..Come On Over still racks up 200-400k a year. I'm sure Shania's GH, when it get's catalogue, will continue to sell just as well. And even into the ages, when she is known only as Shania, like she is know.
And again, you just proved to me that we have to give Shania's more time. And then we will see who is on top..oh and is that 5 million from Soundscan or RIAA? Just wondering....
I'm done ranting. I'm trying to hold myself back but I just couldn't. Entice me somemore and I think you and I could get this thread locked.

HE DID ALL THIS WITH NO NEW SONGS, THAT REALLY MAKES IT A GH. Not true. 'My Next Thirty Years' was only featured on that album and was a #1 single. Sure, it was only ONE, but still, you are wrong.

Sorry you are so wrong, MNTY was on Tim's "A Place In The Sun" album and was the last single released from that album. It was also the Radio Music Awards Song of the year and spent 6 weeks at #1 and 46 weeks on the charts.
So your are wrong it was a #1 hit from his 1999 album, "A Place In The Sun". YOU ARE 100% WRONG EVERY SONG ON TIM'S GH ALBUM WERE ON ANOTHER ALBUM AND WAS RELEASED AS SINGLES AND BIG HITS.

As regard to this statement YOU ARE A IDIOT.

First NEVER HAD TO RECORD ANY ALBUM OVER, IN FACT CURB HAS NO SAY SO ABOUT HIM RECORDING HIS ALBUMS, HE GOES AND DOES WHAT HE WANTS AND HANDS THE FINAL PRODUCT OVER TO CURB. Tim did not want a GH at that time because he didn't think it was time in his career for a GH. The album prior to his GHJ was "A Place In The Sun" that was the CMA Album of the year, debut #1 on Billboard Top 200 and had 2 songs stayed #1 for 5 weeks, One song stay #1 for 6 weeks and the Radio song of the Year. One of them songs that stayed #1 for 5 weeks was picked by the RIAA and the Grammy's and recording industry as one of the TOP 100 songs of the century and was put in the Smithasioan.
In fact one of them songs on that album, since its released has been in the Top 10 recurrent songs played on radio for the year, every year. I'm talking about "Something Like That".
They will palying Tim and his music long after country music has forgotten Shania. Tim will be in the Country Music Hall of Fame one day, I doubt Shania will.
Tim holds the record on the Billboard Data System(goes back to 1989) with the most weeks at #1 OVER ANY ARTIST with over 64. In fact he is in the Top 10 with most weeks at #1 going back to the beginning of the charts in the 30's and 40's. ONLY ONE ARTIST OF THE LAST 20 YEARS BESIDE TIM IS IN THAT TOP TEN AND THAT IS GEORGE STRAIT.

Let's make Love WAS NOT A NEW SONG, it was on Faith's 1999 album Breathe. It was a big hit, that won awards including a Grammy. So you are wrong again it was a single released that was a duet on a PREVIOUS ALBUM. WRONG AGAIN SO GIVE UP EVERY SONG ON TIM'S GH WAS A SONG ON ANOTHER ALBUM THAT HAD ALREADY BEEN RELEASED AND WAS A HUGE HIT.
TRY AGAIN, YOU ARE SO WRONG ITS FUNNY. TIM'S GH NO NEW SONGS TO BRIBE FANS INTO BUYING IT FOR THE NEW SONGS. SHANIA HAD TO HAVE 3 NEW SONGS ON HER ALBUM.

Btw don't say people can't compare them....I can and will, Shania is better then the Eagles in every way shape and form, they are boring. How old are you??? You have to be young to make a statement like that. I have to be young to like Shania better then The Eagles? ...that's some pretty twisted logic. FYI some of my favorite bands of all time are Led Zeppelin, Beatles, AC/DC, Guns N' Roses, old U2 etc. but older doesn't automatically equal better. Tim's GH is nearing 5 million in sales and it was 100% a GH album that is something you can't say about Shania's, Toby. Kenny's or Alan or any others. What makes his a 100% GH because he didn't have to put ANY news song on his to entice people to buy it that made have already had his other albums. Why do you keep bringing Tim up? his GH was released over 5 years ago. In 5 years time Shania's GH will have well surpassed Tim's in sales. ....in fact, in worldwide sales it already has. So when you get down to it, Tim's is way more a GH album than Shania's, she had to add three news song to hers. YOU WILL NEVER know what it would of sold without them new hits, now will you. Shania's GH is more of a Greatest Hits album then Tim's, at least her songs will be remembered. As far as sales go you are just making excuses. Adding 3 new songs isn't going to sway many peoples mind if they weren't set on buying it in the first place, they would probably just download the new tracks seperatly instead. NOt only is Tim's nearing 5 million, it was the #1 Billboard Country Catalog album for the year in 2004 and 2003, and the first two years of its release it spent over a year in the Top 10 of the country album charts, Shania's is #17 this week. In fact them first 2 YEARS IT NEVER fell out of the Top 20. Also Tim's GH was the best selling country album of 2001 by Billboard. It is 2005(album came out in 2000) and it is still #2 on the Country catlog chart and in the top 15 on the pop catalog chart. This may come as a surprise to you but chart position is meaningless. Come On Over never hit #1 on the Billboard chart yet it is now the biggest selling album of the entire Soundscan era. Anyone could pull that chart success off given the right situation, the right timing and the right competition. HE DID ALL THIS WITH NO NEW SONGS, THAT REALLY MAKES IT A GH. No, great songs is what makes a Greatest Hits CD. Can you now leave Shania fans in peace and go glorify Tim McGraw someplace else?

Well, I'm sorry. Even though I own all of Tim's CDs, I was confused and thought MNTY was only on GH.
I didn't need to be called an idiot. I'm a fan of BOTH artists and own all of their albums..I was just sick your pathetic, childish post and thought I'd chime in with a fact. But I was wrong anyway.
It's easy to see that NOBODY wins this argument.
Tim is the bigger Country star, consistently scoring #1 hits and winning numerous awards. Shania is the bigger superstar and international icon. Her albums sell well WORLDWIDE and way more than Tim in the US and her tours generate more money.
Let's just end all of this now. It's ugly enough.

It's already established that Tim has great success with radio. And yes, he picks GREAT songs. However, he IS an industry favorite, which is something Shania is NOT. And why do you keep putting random facts about Tim in the post? Just say the frickin song or album name. Don't tell us that it spent a hundred bajillion weeks in the Top 10 in the middle of your sentence.

Who cares about the Country Music Hall of Fame, Shania is already in a far superior Hall of Fame! ;)
