On Allaccess what is the difference between "all stations" and "published"? "Published" is the panel that is used for the published charts that are typically discussed everywhere. The "All Stations" panel is the panel that combines smaller stations that don't report to the published panel. The all stations panel is used to create the overall AI numbers we see posted here every day. Thank you for clearing that up for me!

^ This song didn't chart in the UK I believe Technically entered the chart at #10 as a double a-side with "Lovers & Friends", but accurate in the sense that "Lovers & Friends" was the more current of the two tracks at the time. Yes. There is a big crunk hit that didn't chart in the UK though: Petey deleted's Freek-a-Leek. Which reminds me that the latest #1 hit in the US not to chart in the UK at all is 'Money Maker' by Ludacris.

I'm at a loss for "Applause's" chart life on radio. What's causing this third (fourth? fifth?) wind?

I'm at a loss for "Applause's" chart life on radio. What's causing this third (fourth? fifth?) wind? KIIS, Z100 and that Chicago station putting it back into Power Rotation.

Isn't Katy's drop due to the rolling effect?

Isn't Katy's drop due to the rolling effect? Yes. It's actually a great update considering last week she got like +7.5M or something.

www.billboard.com/articles/news/5770710/katy-perrys-prism-shines-at-no-1-on-billboard-200Over on the Digital Songs chart, Lorde's "Royals" returns to No. 1, selling 222,000 downloads (down 13%). It replaces Eminem's "Rap God," which opened atop the list last week, but falls to No. 9 this week with 106,000 (down 61%). Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" rises 4-2 with 158,000 (down 14%) while Lady Gaga's "Do What U Want" (featuring R. Kelly) debuts at No. 3 with 156,000. It's the second single from Gaga's upcoming "ARTPOP" album, which is due Nov. 11. The album's first single, "Applause," debuted 11 weeks ago at No. 3 with 218,000. This week, "Applause" dips 10-15 with 80,000 (down 9%), and has sold a total of 1.6 million. With the arrival of "Do What U Want," R. Kelly earns his highest-charting single on the 9-year-old Digital Songs chart. He previously rose as high as No. 13 with his featured role on Young Jeezy's "Go Getta" in 2007. OneRepublic's "Counting Stars" vaults 9-4 with 152,000 (up 48%), logging its best sales week yet. The song concurrently rises 38-30 on the Pop Songs airplay chart (known as Mainstream Top 40 on Billboard.biz). Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" is stationary at No. 5 with 136,000 (down 17%) while Taylor Swift's new "Sweeter Than Fiction" bows at No. 6 with 114,000. Justin Bieber's latest release in his Music Mondays series, "Hold Tight," launches at No. 7 with 111,000. Perry's "Roar" slides 3-8 with a little more than 111,000 (down 41%), while Ylvis' "The Fox" descends 8-10 with 100,000 (down 5%). Digital track sales this past week totaled 19.89 million downloads, up less than 1% compared with last week (19.85 million) and down 6% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (21.1 million). Year-to-date track sales are at 1.054 billion, down 4% compared with the same total at this point last year (1.098 billion).

Song I believe is many, many miles out to sea in the rest of the world. Clearly became a decent sized, consistent hit for her compared to the way it initially looked, but all still feels kind of contrived (far as the out of nowhere radio support). It's just the kind of song that once it starts to fall, will be very quickly forgotten and not get any kind of a recurrent airplay like her earlier hits or even some of the songs from Born This Way. Even w/ the bad callout scores for whatever the reason radio randomly just jumped all over this.

Isn't Katy's drop due to the rolling effect? Yes, but in a different way the normal. Normally we see the big losses like that on a song's eighth (sometimes ninth if the song premiered late) day. "Unconditionally" is way past its eight day. However, this day last week was when those stations played Katy Perry songs a lot for the release of PRISM. All of those big updates we've been seeing for "Unconditionally" the past few days were all legit, so we'll likely see them return tomorrow.

Yep, it's kinda non-existent WW, but it's hard to come back after the 1-2 punch of "You and I"-"Marry The Night". :(

Ouch. I had no idea it did so poorly outside the US. "Yoü and I" is her best song! Good on Japan for randomly sending it top ten. The French obviously are flops themselves.

Yes. Seems her last several singles have ended up just being local/American hits (mainly due to continued strong radio support). If it wasnt for radio, her chart placements would be more in line with the rest of the world. She's still def. very well known w.w. and 'initially' does well on iTunes but the all the songs end up plummeting pretty fast. For example, Australia was by far her biggest market (where she broke out way before America or anywhere else, yet Applause only peaked at #11 there). The end results lately are showing her singles are now only having any kind of longevity in America (again mainly due to radio support). Not saying 1.7 million for Applause is a 'flop' but when you think of the brand GaGa and the fact this was a first single its kind of meh. Just 3 years ago, she was def. at Madonna, Rihanna etc..level of *worldwide* success and sales. It was cake for her prior to this era and kinda sorta the BTW era to sell 3+ million per single and ESP during the Fame era.

Radio started supporting it after it started plummeting on iTunes, they paid it dust when she was between #4 and #7 for like a month. 2. You mean she would be in line with the rest of the world NOW? That's true, but it was doing better in sales before. :) 3. Yep, it's far from a flop, but don't forget she's coming off "Marry The Night" and the BTW era. It's still "meh", I agree. She has two "local" hits so far, "You and I" and "Applause", that's not several.

I'm as anti Lady Gaga as they get and even I think Applause is a catchy song. If the lyrics were relatable it would have been a bigger hit.

I don't really know if I would call Applause a "local" hit, at least not on the same level as Y&I. It did do something internationally, but yes, it's done outside the states.
It'll be interesting to see how her album will open internationally because it's coming out without a current hit on the charts.

I'm no great fan of Lady Gaga but Applause is a decent song that doesn't make me want to switch the radio dial (unlike a song like Roar or the extremely overplayed Mirrors). It doesn't matter if it's not selling, although 1.7 mil seems plenty, if a song has a lower burn out rate.

Lorde's "Royals" is the Billboard Hot 100's ruler for a fifth week, helping add to another week of solo women controlling the top three. Plus, OneRepublic and Imagine Dragons enter the top 10 and Lady Gaga starts just outside the top bracket with her new single.
Per our Wednesday tradition, let's look closer at the numbers.
"Royals" commands the Hot 100 fueled in part by its second week atop the Radio Songs chart, as it gains by 3% to 171 million audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. It also returns to the top of Digital Songs (2-1) for a fifth total week at No. 1 (222,000 downloads sold, down 13%, according to Nielsen SoundScan). The track leads the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart for a third week with 2.6 million on-demand U.S. streams, according to BDS (down 6%). The activity helps the song reach a new peak (3-2) on the overall Streaming Songs chart (7.4 million U.S. streams, down 2%).
As reported Monday, "Royals" takes over atop the Adult Pop Songs airplay chart this week. It's No. 1 on Hot Rock Songs for a ninth week.
As she storms in atop the Billboard 200 with her album "PRISM," Katy Perry holds at No. 2 on the Hot 100 with her former two-week No. 1 "Roar." It lifts 4-3 on Streaming Songs (6.8 million, up 13%; it led the list the week of Sept. 21.) "Roar" also jumps 2-1 on Adult Contemporary.
Perry concurrently debuts at No. 30 on the Hot 100 with second "PRISM" single "Unconditionally." The ballad powers 53-33 on Radio Songs (36 million, up 65%). Notably, album track "Dark Horse" (featuring Juicy J) ranks higher than "Unconditionally" on the Hot 100, as it vaults 57-28 with the top Streaming Gainer nod, as it enters Streaming Songs at No. 35 (1.5 million, up 173%). Comparatively, "Unconditionally" drew 581,000 streams (up 251%), even trailing other "PRISM" song "Walking on Air" (594,000). Then again, both "Horse" and "Air" have gained familiarity as they were previously available for digital purchase as album preview cuts (and debuted and peaked at Nos. 17 and 34 on the Hot 100, respectively).
Miley Cyrus' former two-week Hot 100 No. 1 "Wrecking Ball" keeps at No. 3. It returns to No. 1 on Streaming Songs (2-1) for a fifth cumulative frame at the apex (8.9 million, down 10%); holds at No. 5 on Digital Songs (136,000, down 17%); and bullets at No. 6 for a second week on Radio Songs (107 million, up 14%).
As noted in Friday's "Ask Billboard" reader mailbag, Lorde, Perry and Cyrus have monopolized the Hot 100's top three spots since the week of Sept. 28. With this week marking the seventh straight that the trio has locked up the top three, it moves closer to the mark for the most weeks in a row that that only lead solo women, shutting out men entirely, have controlled the region: female soloists managed such a reign for a record 10 consecutive frames in 1999, thanks to hits by Brandy, Deborah Cox, Britney Spears, Monica, Cher and Whitney Houston.
Avicii breaks up the Hot 100's upper echelon all-girls club, as "Wake Me Up!" holds at its No. 4 peak. It reaches new highpoints on Radio Songs (3-2; 151 million, up 8%) and Digital Songs (4-2; 158,000, down 14%). It leads Dance/Electronic Songs for an eighth week and, as revealed on Monday, becomes the DJ's first No. 1 on the Pop Songs radio airplay chart.
Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home" (featuring Majid Jordan) stays at No. 5 on the Hot 100 and dominates Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and R&B Songs for a fifth week each.
Jay Z's No. 4 Hot 100 hit "Holy Grail" (featuring Justin Timberlake) reverses course 8-6 and reclaims the throne for a 12th total week atop Rap Songs. Lady Gaga's fellow No. 4-peaking "Applause" likewise rises 9-7 on the Hot 100. (Keep reading for more about Gaga …)
Two tracks freshen up the Hot 100's top 10, led by OneRepublic's "Counting Stars," which shoots 15-8 with top Digital Gainer honors; it jumps 9-4 on Digital Songs with a 48% gain to 152,000, its best sales week. On the Oct. 21 episode of NBC's "The Voice," the band's frontman Ryan Tedder guided contestants James Irwin and Matt Cermanski as they covered the song. "Stars" soars 22-13 on Streaming Songs (2.6 million, up 29%) and 40-31 on Radio Songs (36 million, up 19%).
"Stars" is OneRepublic's third Hot 100 top 10. It follows 2007's No. 2-peaking breakthrough "Apologize" (billed as by Timbaland featuring OneRepublic) and 2011's No. 8 hit "Good Life."
Imagine Dragons also fly into the Hot 100's top 10, as "Demons" rises 12-9 as the chart's top Airplay Gainer. It concurrently reaches the top 10 on Radio Songs (12-10; 68 million, up 24%) and Adult Pop Songs (13-10). It spends a 21st week in the Alternative Songs top 10 after peaking at No. 2 on the tally in August. "Demons" elevates 15-11 on Digital Songs (99,000, up 24%) and 24-22 on Streaming Songs (2.1 million, up 13%).
"Demons" is Imagine Dragons' second Hot 100 top 10 from its debut studio album "Night Visions," following the No. 3-peaking "Radioactive" (which ranks at No. 16 in its 61st week). Lead single "It's Time" reached No. 15.
From dragons to a fox: Ylvis' "The Fox" rounds out the Hot 100's top 10, falling four spots from its No. 6 peak.
Just outside the Hot 100's top tier, Lady Gaga debuts at No. 13 with "Do What U Want" (featuring R. Kelly), the second single (following "Applause") from "ARTPOP," due Nov. 11. The new cut starts at No. 3 on Digital Songs, and No. 1 Pop Digital Songs, with 156,000; "Applause" started at Nos. 3 and 2 on the respective charts with 218,000 in August.
"Want" marks Gaga's 14th Digital Songs top 10. R. Kelly, meanwhile, lands his 52nd Hot 100 entry and highest rank since "I'm a Flirt" peaked at No. 12 in 2007.

Am I missing something? When I look up Applause on wiki, it shows top ten peak positions throughout the world. Although it peaked in the top 10 in the UK, it didn't do as well as it should have. It had 9 weeks in the top 40 and has sold nearly 200k copies. Considering it's a lead single for Lady Gaga, I would have expected a lot more. Especially since the likes of "Judas" & "Marry The Night" have spent the same, or more weeks in the top 40 than "Applause" did.
