I'll give Billboard's current team credit -- they are much faster at recognizing changing market conditions than they used to be. Waiting till 1998 to include airplay only songs was way too long. Similarly they dragged their feet on implementing digital sales in 2005 too, considering they had an existing digital sales chart for awhile before integrating it into the Hot 100.

This is also the week that The Power of Goodbye was robbed of a potential Top 10 placing.

^I think the Power of Good-Bye thing is overstated. It had climbed 13-11 the week before but was unbulleted and would have likely fallen anyway. It would've peaked at #11 even if the chart change hadn't happened.

Could Bound 2 make a huge debut this week, or would it most likely be next week? Also, with the Seth Rogen/James Franco parody version, will that count for the song towards its Hot 100 points?

And now it's time once again for our weekly look back at the Hot 100 top 10's for exactly 55, 50, 45, and 40 years ago this week.
A few years before he became a major record producer in the early 1960's with his "wall of sound" technique, Phil Spector was just an 18 year old, recently graduated from high school young kid who formed a group with a couple of his friends and a young female singer and called themselves The Teddy Bears. As the Teddy Bears they recorded a song that Phil had written himself called, "To Know Him, Is To Love Him." The song became a national hit and topped the Hot 100 the week of December 1, 1958, and Phil Spector's successful career in music had officially begun.
December 1, 1958 (for week ending December 7, 1958)
TW LW WK 01 03 11 To Know Him, Is To Love Him - The Teddy Bears (1 week at #1) 7th song to top the Hot 100 02 02 10 Tom Dooley - The Kingston Trio 03 01 12 It's Only Make Believe - Conway Twitty 04 06 05 Beep Beep - The Playmates 05 07 04 One Night - Elvis Presley 06 04 15 Topsy II - Cozy Cole 07 09 07 Lonesome Town - Ricky Nelson 08 17 04 Problems - The Everly Brothers 09 08 05 I Got Stung - Elvis Presley 10 05 16 It's All In The Game - Tommy Edwards
The most unlikeliest of performers nabbed the last #1 song of 1963 when a Belgian nun named Sister Luc-Gabrielle, who became known in the U.S. as "The Singing Nun," went to #1 on the Hot 100 with her own folksy composition "Dominique." Despite being completely sung in French, Americans loved the simple, uplifting tune as well as the other songs on her album. In fact, The Singing Nun's single and album were so popular that both topped their respective Billboard charts the same week, the first time this had ever been accomplished in Billboard chart history.
December 7, 1963
TW LW WK 01 02 05 Dominique - The Singing Nun (1 week at #1) 02 01 10 I'm Leaving It Up To You - Dale & Grace 03 07 09 Everybody - Tommy Roe 04 23 05 Louie Louie - The Kingsmen 05 06 11 She's A Fool - Lesley Gore 06 04 12 Sugar Shack - Jimmy Gilmer And The Fireballs 07 19 06 You Don't Have To Be A Baby To Cry - The Caravelles 08 14 06 Be True To Your School - The Beach Boys 09 03 12 Washington Square - The Village Stompers 10 11 10 Walking The Dog - Rufus Thomas

Kind of strange that this is only going to be their second real hit in America.

This was released yesterday and already has 11 million views:
Wrecking Ball will see a huge increase next week, could it reach number 1 again? I don't think so, but another week at #2 seems likely.

07 07 Waiting For a Star To Fall - Boy Meets Girl this was one of my favorite songs growing up. mine too! And rejected by Whitney's camp. (The duo wrote IWDWS and HWIK and presented WFASTF, which they allegedly wrote after seeing a falling star at one of Whitney's outdoor concerts. However, CLIVE DAVIS rejected it.) I'm glad they had a hit with it.

^Doesn't look like it; nor does it look like radio was interested, anyhow. No matter, as AIWFCIY is ready for its annual smashing.
