Whoops, also forgot September 12th has also never had a newly-crowned number #1 song. My folks got married on Sept. 12, 1970, when "War" by Edwin Starr nabbed a third and final week at No. 1. That's interesting! I like to think of important life events in perspective of what song was #1 when I was born, when I graduated high school, etc. My parents got married on June 15, 1991, the exact date that "Rush, Rush" by Paula Abdul began its five-week reign at #1. |

OMN was still quite big at the beginning of the year. It makes sense if it places towards the lower end of a lot of countdowns given how long it lingered around. Especially if some countdowns include December 2012 play.
Whereas STIUTK was a spring/summer 2012 hit, too early to still be big in early 2013.

It's the year-end countdowns and, as someone noted, AC radio returning to regular play for non-holiday tracks. "Roar" currently is No. 1 on the seven-day-rolling AC chart, and has the biggest weekly spin increase. Others benefiting big from AC returning to regular play are, in terms of audience, "Brave," "Love Somebody," "Royals," "Just Give Me a Reason," "Gone Gone Gone," "Mirrors" and "Wake Me Up."

Everyone was complaining when radio was trying to force unconditionally in everyone's head but no one is saying anything when they are force-feeding do what u want. LOL it gets negative updates with spin increases

I mean, the public wants Timber to hit #1 already.
They need to respect what the general public wants. The monster doesn't deserve to be #1 anymore, because it should be #1 on itunes not #4.
I think that Billboard should take notes from the UK billboard.

Of course, you didn't intend to leave off TM's second version, which has been in Top 30, now 37 at .2089, which puts it at #2 combined and not that big of a gap. |

But they only last 2 or 3 days on Itunes, while Timber has several weeks on top and has overshadowed The monster and Counting stars with less airplay all this time on itunes, so what's wrong with radio? Timber should be getting the biggest updates not these poor updates. Timber made the top 4 on itunes with 30 million AI, even with less airplay than Dark Horse and Counting stars, so obviously people is here for Timber. If Timber was behind its competition on itunes, I wouldn't be complaining like this, but Timber has outlasted the Voice/X factor/Say something/Counting stars/The monster/Beyonce/Bieber's songs on itunes/Amazon. It has prevailed despite everything, so deserves better airplay. |

...the song is top 10 in total airplay, and it's not the type of song that would get the airplay-suck level of rotation anyway because it's so much in line with what has been played the past three years.

For whatever reason, the year 1974 (and the following year 1975) had a record number of songs hit the top of the chart. During the year no less than 35 songs would hit #1, more than any other year that had come before. This was no doubt greatly due to the sheer number of songs that only hit #1 for a single, solitary week during 1974. The first of these, "The Joker," which was also the first #1 by popular 70's and 80's artist, the Steve Miller Band, came early in the year when it topped the chart for the week ending January 12, 1974.

What is so special about Timber? it sounds like every other Pitbull song, and he is quite boring to my ears. I would rather Counting Stars be #1. I am glad I have my own charts, because Timber along with about 50% of the other songs are not on my chart.
