I didn't love her vocal performance on the Oscar's as well. She was much better on "Glee" that followed after Jimmy Kimmel live. She sang "Somewhere" and it was beautiful. She wasn't awful but, just wasn't great at the Oscar's.

can we change the artist to Adele Dazim "Let It Go", indeed. But seriously, though. She took it like a champ. You know the saying: Conceal, don't feel.

Looks to still be No. 2 (all listings) in iTunes pop bars, but "Happy" is very far ahead of the pack.

Is that Jimmy Fallon video going to count for streaming points for the original version next week?
Cause it's already over 6 million views.

^If it's categorized as or under the "Music" category, then, yes. If not, nope.

Maybe if people think her name is Adele, they'll start playing this?
And I'm Jan Marvis now.

New peak of 17 on the hot 100 this week

New peak of 17 on the hot 100 this week Such a small rise considering the digital growth, but it'll finally be top 10 this week. Anyone paying close attention to my posts (probably no one) will notice that while I continue to hate the film, my feelings about the song and its chart success are extremely mixed, if not entirely contradictory. I want it to be a big hit just for the interesting-ness of its success and for the implications for Menzel's career, without actually liking the song itself.

It'll do much better on next week's chart. Yup, I realize that (and that you meant Oscars, but we never talk about "post-Oscars boost" here, so it's like the tiniest mistake ever), but she's been in the top 10 digital for a few weeks and consistently increasing, so I was fully expecting to see her in the #13-15 range this week.

This needs to go at least top 5 on the hot 100. Truly gorgeous.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but have watched the video (scene from the film). It's also refreshing to see the actual film version outperform the pop recording. Something to ponder- had the pop version taken off, it would Demi Lovato have performed it at the Oscars?

No, Demi wouldn't have performed no matter what. It wasn't her version that was nominated, it was Idina's. Besides, Idina's is the one that was actually IN THE FILM so, yeah.

I mean, I don't think Demi would have performed no matter what in this scenario, but technically neither "version" was nominated, just the song itself. Also, Demi's does appear in the film from the beginning of the end credits.

technically neither "version" was nominated, just the song itself. Exactly. Though, as you point out, both versions play at points in the film that make the song eligible for the award

Exactly. Though, as you point out, both versions play at points in the film that make the song eligible for the award Well, that's a quote fail. And I don't get your comment... it's the same song with two different recordings. It doesn't matter how many times it appears in the film for it to be eligible for the award; I was just correcting the other poster who said only Idina's recording appears.
