NEON TREES – Sleeping With A Friend: 2.409 PHARRELL WILLIAMS – Happy: 1.515 This proves my point before on how happy with 0.555 is a sad number. Neon Trees Debut with 5 times that number. And happy has a little over 1/2 of that right now. "Happy" wasn't even sent for adds yet. Don't make assumptions based on nothing. I assume 2.4 > 0.5, jk. You are right.... But maybe I'm just not used to seeing a 0.5 number on here.

But maybe I'm just not used to seeing a 0.5 number on here. 0.5 (adds date on January 21) > 2.4 (just released) And those are small numbers to compare them. Stop the bs, the song will get huge updates in a week or so, there's nothing sad about it.

I still don't get the logic of Blaac not being credited on "Wake Me Up." That would be like Guetta or Calvin Harris not crediting the vocalists on their tracks. Odd.

Could it be a Ke$ha/Right Round situation, where Blacc didn't want credit? It's odd in the "modern" era of features, where practically a 2-second whistle or burp will get you a credit, etc.

Avicii doesn't credit the vocalists on any of his tracks. Not entirely sure why.

From what I read Avicii just doesn't credit his vocalists. Maybe he gets away with it by avoiding obvious big names in the music biz. The singers agree to not get credit because they see it as a way to promote their own career.

That's some clusterf*ck trying to get into the airplay top 10 there!!!! Most of the songs from 1-7 are falling too slowly... it looks like everyone is fighting each other for a top 10 placement.

All the singers had to sign off on it. They knew what they were getting into with Avicii.

^Ahh. If that's the case, then that makes sense. :) Blaac's Wake Me Up EP debuted on the Billboard 200 this week, so at least he has a chart entry associated with the tune.

^The EP is probably less expensive?
While that's an explanation for the credit issue, I don't see what Avicci's issue is with giving the vocalists credit as a featured act.

These Billboard chart listings are all business. The most ridiculous one, in my opinion, was Mariah and Whitney (and their labels) demanding that Billboard alternate the act listed first on a weekly basis when "When You Believe" was charting.

These Billboard chart listings are all business. The most ridiculous one, in my opinion, was Mariah and Whitney (and their labels) demanding that Billboard alternate the act listed first on a weekly basis when "When You Believe" was charting. I know this seems ridiculous, but I can actually understand that. In the UK in 2013 we had hits credited as "Avicii vs. Nicky Romero", "Baauer vs. Just Blaze", "DJ Fresh vs. Diplo" and "Calvin Harris vs. Alesso". The two artists are joint leads, but people always talk as if it's the lead artist. Like I always hear people say "Earthquake by DJ Fresh", but I never hear anybody say "Earthquake by Diplo" (even though as a fan of both I think it's very likely that Diplo made more of the song). Same with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, lots of people just say Macklemore when referring to their hits, but I wonder if it was "Ryan Lewis & Macklemore" if people would talk about Ryan Lewis more. I still don't get the logic of Blaac not being credited on "Wake Me Up." That would be like Guetta or Calvin Harris not crediting the vocalists on their tracks. Odd. It's actually very common in dance music for vocalists to be uncredited. With David Guetta, etc. they get to collab with massive stars like Akon, Kelly Rowland, etc. so obviously they'll credit them since it brings more attention to the song, but in the genre overall it's common for vocalists to be uncredited. There have been some cases of an underground song rising to the mainstream and being massive, and the uncredited vocalists have missed out on a lot of money since they didn't get the royalties sorted out at the beginning (which I can understand, since 99% of those songs aren't going to make any notable amount of money, it's probably a lot of effort to go through every time). Aloe Blacc is famous though, at least in Europe, so Avicii could have capitalized on it. I'm sure Aloe Blacc would have known he wouldn't get featured on it beforehand, and I'm sure he's made lots of money from the song, so I don't feel sorry for him.

how many weeks did "Wake Me Up" appears in top 10? reached 20 weeks? Yes 20 weeks as of 1/18/2014. Probably two more weeks for a total of 22 weeks. I think this would be the most ever for a song that didn't peak in the top 3. I remember Starships, which peaked at #5 was in the top 10 for 21 weeks and broke the record for the debuting with the most weeks in the top 10 (it debuted in the top 10 and stayed there immediately for 21 weeks in a row without dropping out). It's quite interesting. I'm still pissed, though, that WMU was least successful in the United States -___- worldwide chart topper and one of my favorites! Most weeks in the top 10 by peak position
#1 Smooth - Santana (30 weeks) #2 How Do I Live - LeAnn Rimes (32 Weeks) #3 Another Night - Real McCoy (23 weeks) #4 (tie)If I Ain't Got You - Alicia Keys (20 Weeks) #4(tie) Wake Me Up! - Avicii (20 weeks) #5 Starships - Nicki Minaj (21 weeks) #6 Behind These Hazel Eyes - Kelly Clarkson (15 weeks) #7 Now and Forever - Richard Marx, I'm Still In Love With You - New Edition (11 weeks) #8 Run Around- Blues Traveler (9 weeks) #9 Follow You Down - Gin Blossoms (8 weeks) #10 When The Lights Go Out - Five (7 weeks)
I am pretty sure on 1-6, not 100% on the others
Feel free to correct

well I think this week WMU will spend a 21st week in the top 10 this coming week and surpass IIAGY and it's amazing how a song could spend 7 weeks at exactly #10 without going any higher lol :O

And now it's time once again for our weekly look back at the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 singles charts for exactly 55, 50, 45, and 40 years ago this week.
January 19, 1959 (for week ending January 25, 1959)
TW LW WK 01 02 10 Smoke Gets In Your Eyes - The Platters (1 week at #1) 9th song to top the Hot 100 02 03 07 My Happiness - Connie Francis 03 01 08 The Chipmunk Song - The Chipmunks with David Seville 04 15 09 Donna - Ritchie Valens 05 12 09 16 Candles - The Crests 06 07 15 A Lover's Question - Clyde McPhatter 07 04 09 Gotta Travel On - Billy Grammer 08 06 10 Whole Lotta Loving - Fats Domino 09 21 07 Stagger Lee - Lloyd Price 10 05 18 To Know Him, Is To Love Him - The Teddy Bears
After debuting at #45 only a week earlier, the Beatles "I Want To Hold Your Hand" leaped all the way up to #3 on the Hot 100. That week, January 25, 1964, would mark the end of an era as it would be the last week before the Beatles ascended to the top of the chart and as far as the Hot 100 went, nothing would ever be the same again.
January 25, 1964
TW LW WK 01 01 09 There! I've Said It Again - Bobby Vinton (4 weeks at #1) 02 02 12 Louie Louie - The Kingsmen 03 45 02 I Want To Hold Your Hand - The Beatles 04 05 08 Surfin' Bird - The Trashmen 05 03 10 Popsicles And Icicles - The Murmaids 06 09 08 Out Of Limits - The Marketts 07 07 07 Hey Little Cobra - The Rip Chords 08 04 12 Forget Him - Bobby Rydell 09 14 04 Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um - Major Lance 10 10 08 Drag City - Jan & Dean
January 25, 1969
TW LW WK 01 01 10 I Heard It Through The Grapevine - Marvin Gaye (7 weeks at #1) 02 04 07 Crimson And Clover - Tommy James And The Shondells 03 02 08 I'm Gonna Make You Love Me - Diana Ross And The Supremes & The Temptations 04 03 09 Soulful Strut - Young-Holt Unlimited 05 15 09 Everyday People - Sly & The Family Stone 06 05 11 Hooked On A Feeling - B.J. Thomas 07 08 05 Touch Me - The Doors 08 09 06 Worst That Could Happen - Brooklyn Bridge 09 16 06 I Started A Joke - The Bee Gees 10 10 09 Son-Of-A Preacher Man - Dusty Springfield
The ex-Beatle voted least likely to...did it again on January 26, 1974 when he topped the Hot 100 with his cover version of Johnny Burnette's "You're Sixteen."
January 26, 1974
TW LW WK 01 05 07 You're Sixteen - Ringo Starr (1 week at #1) 02 01 15 Show And Tell - Al Wilson 03 07 10 The Way We Were - Barbra Streisand 04 04 10 I've Got To Use My Imagination - Gladys Knight & The Pips 05 02 15 The Joker - Steve Miller Band 06 10 09 Love's Theme - Love Unlimited Orchestra 07 03 14 Smokin' In The Boy's Room - Brownsville Station 08 09 11 Let Me Be There - Olivia Newton-John 09 06 11 Time In A Bottle - Jim Croce 10 17 04 Americans - Byron MacGregor

Hopefully Counting Stars would be #1 tomorrow. I would be happy if it was, but I think it will join a long list of songs that I have liked that ended up as a bridesmaid and not the bride. My guess is that "Timber" will be #1 again with "Dark Horse" as the odds on favourite to be the next #1.
