Did she ever attempt a single after BIM? Not really, but "Hold Tight" was an airplay only single in Italy & "Devil Pray" was one in Germany. Neither got the full fledged treatments though.

I swear, this woman has turned back the hands of time. Like anyone, she has moments when she doesn't look her best/isn't captured in a flattering light, but when she does...

I wish she would've tried "Iconic" as a single.
She got us all again by working with newcomers who are heating up once more with Chance the Rapper, BloodPop, (sort of) Billboard, and AFSheeN.

I'm looking forward to her channeling her creativity and achieving universal relevance again, if that's even possible after such a long career. RH was a great fan era but her whole brand has become very self-celebratory. The topics of her age, sexuality, mothering style, etc., bring the expression "beating a dead horse" to mind.
The 20th century was the golden age of female entertainers and femininity. Ultimately, I think M is very much still connected to that era and aside from nostalgia, there isn't much else left to explore. That's tough for an artist that was always grounded in the now. But maybe it's also that the "now" is never going to be as thrilling as our recollection of "then."

She really needs to go into her wormhole and discover her next level. Everything post Confessions has been fun but now its time to dig a bit deeper and cover new ground musically and thematically. I've ALWAYS wanted her to go back to her roots, even more so than on Confessions, to make a true 80s style album again. If not that, I want another ROL - it's nearly 20 years after that self discovery so I'm sure she has discovered much more about herself now.

LOL NO chile. it was not. In Fact thats not even close to a favorite album to me. Madonna has nothing to prove she does not need World Dominance again. Its time for her to chillax and make music she WANTS to make. If it catches on so be it but I certainly dont think she needs to chase a hit. The Queen has earned her place .. DO you Madonna. Just please Give us a GReatest Hits Tour where Every track gets more and more Screams/Applause.

But IMO, Confessions was the last album where she cohesively and sonically took us back to music that she made when she first came out. I just feel like she is THE reinventor and lately, well - since 2008 - she has not really been living up to that title all the way. In the past, a new Madonna album marked a musical breakthrough of sorts. She never really did what she did last time around. But over the past eight years, I feel like a lot of the music, lyrics and general sounds are being rehashed. I just want something new and invigorating from her at this point.

RH was a great fan era, but she also delivered some top-notch tracks- and, as usual, the tour was a creative win. Speaking of the tour, M posted a trailer (from her computer, it looked) for something- a broadcast? The DVD? It said "semtex/SHOWTIME presents." http://instagram.com/p/BKt9mQMhrSQ

I believe RH was a great album that didn't necessarily followed trends and felt quite personal and different for her. I wish the promo had been great and not as disastrous as it was after the leaks. I'd be up for better visuals from her too. I think she can still take it to next level in terms of use of media, visuals, mixes, etc. in terms of music I'm fine with stuff like RH. It could've been more cohesive but I think it had variety and quality. I'd be all for something as good and visionary as ROL though, which is the next level and totally possible for her

It's interesting how this discussion is gravitating toward her music, which for me rarely disappoints.
I was just saying I'm ready for her to crusade over something besides her right to youthful fashion statements...something that would have more universal resonance. The ability to uplift others has gotten lost in defensiveness and just a wee bit of taking one's self too seriously.

I hope she starts working on something soon.
Rebel Heart is indeed a great album. I've cut a few and replaced them with some deluxe versions. But it's pretty awesome overall. I can imagine if someone like Taylor had released RH, you'd see a number of those songs become hits. Ghosttown, Joan of Arc, Rebel Heart, Devil Pray, Hold Tight could all be big if she was younger.

I really enjoyed Rebel Heart. I think she would have had an even stronger album had she used an editor and trimmed the tracklist a bit. I feel like she included almost everything she recorded because she had no choice. Almost everything leaked so she probably included some of the tracks that didn't leak, but maybe would have ended up being cut if nothing had been leaked.
I think she would have ended up with a killer album if it was shorter and focused on the top notch tracks like: Ghosttown, Joan of Arc, Rebel Heart, Devil Pray, Hold Tight, Living for Love, Wash All Over Me, Veni Vidi Vici, and maybe Messiah. It would have leaned more towards adult pop and less towards trying to chase the younger pop / R&B trends. The other songs were fun, but I tend to skip stuff like Iconic, Illuminati, Bitch I'm Madonna, etc.

^A number of tracks didn't even make it onto the Super Deluxe album, though- another album's worth or so. I'm in agreement on the more adult-sounding tracks being the highlights. The whole release was messy, no doubt because of the leaks- tying those initial six tracks to the pre-order didn't help, either. At least LFL was withheld in the UK. It made no sense to make it available in the USA and then sit on it for a month and a half before promotion kicked in. Not that it or the album would have been huge, but perhaps a little more than the blip that they were.

Yeah, big mess in terms of the US treatment of leaks. Sort of blue-ballsy lol (Wait till we cum back with promo in 2 months!) I like the fun tracks though. Iconic and BIM are solid IMO and have a place in my enjoyable tracks by M. Illuminati and Holy Water are among my least liked tracks of the album though

Ok good, I'm getting what I need from her a bit now with her defending Rosie, supporting Hillary and attacking Drumpf.
Her most stunning moments have always been her commentary on the external rather than the internal (which she has mostly focused on starting with ROL). Even a "political" album like AL was all about her own feelings on fame. Not like the good old days when she was going after the Vatican! So that's where I hope the next era will be headed, something with sociopolitical, rather than personal, relevance.

I can't believe LAV paced at #9. You-know-who didn't do so well. www.billboard.com/articles/news/billboard-lists/7526410/diamond-certified-album-riaa-ranked?utm_source=twitterAll 88 Diamond-Certified Albums Ranked From Worst to Best: Critic's Take9/29/2016 by Andrew Unterberger It's worth celebrating whenever we get a brand new, RIAA-certified diamond-selling album -- indicating sales (and streaming equivalent sales) of ten million units -- because for a while, it looked like we might never get another one again. For a half-decade after Usher's Confessions was released in 2004, no album of new material was released that even got particularly close to diamond status, largely the result of a download-reeling music industry adjusting slowly to the decline of physical media. Then, Adele. In 2011, the singer/songwriter's four-quadrant-appealing 21 was released, sparking sales unseen since the beginning of the millennium. The album stayed on top the Billboard 200 for 24 weeks, and was given the Diamond certification in November of 2012, eventually going 14x platinum. For her next act, Ms. Adkins demolished *NSYNC's record for first-week sales with her follow-up effort, 25, moving an incomprehensible 3.38 million in its debut frame, according to Nielsen SoundScan. And last week (Sept. 22), Adele was awarded her second consecutive diamond plaque, for 25 -- less than a year after the album's release. To honor the exclusive club that Adele joins with her latest sales achievement, we've ranked every one of the RIAA-certified diamond albums. That's not counting compilations -- including greatest-hits collections, live albums, and certain soundtracks -- unless the set is comprised mainly of contemporary material. (The Dirty Dancing soundtrack, for instance, includes seven contemporary songs and five old ones, so it's in, but Garth Brooks' The Ultimate Hits -- itself certified diamond earlier this week -- has only four new songs in 34 tracks, so it's out.) It's still a whopping 88 albums, though, ranging nearly 60 years back to Elvis Presley's Elvis' Christmas Album. Read our list here, and let's hope we don't have to wait for another Adele album -- whenever that comes -- to welcome our next newcomer to these ranks. (Each album's year of release and most-recent platinum certification as of Sept. 2016 is included.) 9. Madonna, Like a Virgin (1984, 10x Platinum)Madonna’s musical and conceptual ambitions would grow from here, but the pure thrills of Like a Virgin are not to be overshadowed: “Angel” and “Dress You Up” are perfectly synth-popped chewing gum, “Material Girl” does Marilyn and Motown proud, and the title track is rivaled only by “Billie Jean” as the defining jam of MTV’s formative years. A year later she’d give away a couple brilliant singles away to soundtracks, seemingly just because she could.

The Immaculate Collection is her only other 10+ million selling album in the United States and it seems the reviewer left out any Greatest Hits collections, considering the Eagles Greatest Hits 71-75 is the second best selling album after Thriller.
