Beyonce will win I am sure. I love Beyonce, but it is a little ridiculous that these days, all she has to do is say hello, and the world is proclaiming her genius and girl power.

I can't believe LAV paced at #9. You-know-who didn't do so well. No, I don't. Please tell me. Then again, another artist, unwritten or not, really should have no bearing on Madonna's placement on a chart, should it? Everybody is still one of the best Madonna songs ever created. It's like a perfect pop song, engineered in a lab. The lyrics, while frivolous, are a bit of a call-to-arms to just dance and sing and get up and do your thing, whatever that thing may be. These lyrics still can apply today, with all that's going on in the world. It's tough, because of Madonna's age, to make music so steeped in juvenile, naïve sentiment, but I agree, maybe a return to pure pop (the kind of stuff that Carly Rae does so well) may be warranted. While it may not be met with much, if any, commercial success, escapism is always welcome in pop music.

I really enjoyed Rebel Heart. I think she would have had an even stronger album had she used an editor and trimmed the tracklist a bit. I feel like she included almost everything she recorded because she had no choice. Almost everything leaked so she probably included some of the tracks that didn't leak, but maybe would have ended up being cut if nothing had been leaked. I think she would have ended up with a killer album if it was shorter and focused on the top notch tracks like: Ghosttown, Joan of Arc, Rebel Heart, Devil Pray, Hold Tight, Living for Love, Wash All Over Me, Veni Vidi Vici, and maybe Messiah. It would have leaned more towards adult pop and less towards trying to chase the younger pop / R&B trends. The other songs were fun, but I tend to skip stuff like Iconic, Illuminati, Bitch I'm Madonna, etc. Was listening to Rebel Heart yesterday while work out at my home gym And...for me, it is the weakest/worst Madonna album There is not one single song that I really like! :/ That did not happen with any other Madonna album MDNA had a few I love Hard Candy several but on Rebel Heart really none :( I do like some songs but that's it. I do not really wish to listen to them often or at all Rebel Heart demo and Wash all over me demo were FIRE!

Rebel Heart was a good album for me (although it could have used less songs)....In my opinion it is way better than both MDNA and Hard Candy!!

Yes, Rebel Heart for sure was an improvement over the last couple of albums. It (some tracks more than others, obviously), along with the tour, showcased that she remains a creative force.

What's funny is when I think about her catalog or see a ranking of her albums, I always forget she released hard candy and mdna.

Hopefully there's a release date announced soon for the Rebel Heart CD/DVD (or whatever). We need to see, and listen, to the queen's latest opus in all its glory (though the audio component will probably be a condensed version).

I had an amazing wish fulfillment dream where I got to meet Madonna last night.
It ended with her leaving me a paper that signified she really enjoyed the time spent hanging out with me across two tour stops and that we would meet again in the future.

A certain 9xP album, if it was 10xP, would deserve a Top 10 placement on that chart.

I don't know if it's because her voice is so familiar or she uses a different vocal approach but when she chases a trend or sings something that sounds like it's from today. She sounds a little silly and it's almost jarring against the beat. I don't know if that makes any sense or not. lol.

Why not just say what you intend to say, instead of hiding behind subterfuge? Clearly there is a certain artist and album you have in mind, so name names and we can have an intelligent discussion...or is that not what you actually want?

If Janet Jackson weren't so under-certified, y'all wouldn't need to be going back and forth about Madonna and Mariah Carey (there, I said it) because surely Rhythm Nation 1814 and janet. would be sitting pretty at #1 and #2 respectively.

Madonna has done narration for this film about recently slain Pakistani actress and social media celebrity Qandeel Baloch.

Let's just keep the focus on the subject of this thread. There are intelligent, mature ways to have conversation and compare other artists - openly and frankly - without posting something sub rosa that could knowingly derail the thread by deliberately baiting fans of other artists. Notice how when I post in this thread, it is always on topic, without reference to any other artist, either directly or indirectly. It's really THAT simple!
Since I never saw the tour, I definitely hope she puts it on Blu-Ray. Hell, she should even put it on Youtube to reach a broader audience. So many people never got to hear this great album and she might ignite interest in Rebel Heart this way.

Has she started work on that film she was supposed to be directing? She seems to be taking it "easy," but that may be because we haven't heard much of anything outside of her social-media posts and that upcoming Tears of a Clown show.

I would love to see her in another Evita type role. I realize that was a role she fought tooth-and-nail for and was essentially a passion project for her because she identified so strongly with Eva Peron and therefore, threw all of herself into it but that's what I need from her again acting-wise.

I don't know if she'll ever do a full-on acting role again. Good, supporting roles could serve her well, though, based on past projects.

Leigh- I recommend Evita. The second half starts to look like a lengthy music video in spots, with montage scenes (which, I guess, makes sense given the songs), but it regains its footing. She's quite effective, especially in the scenes filmed with live vocals. As for the others (not sure what you've seen)- I've never seen Shanghai Surprise and Swept Away- and have no desire to do so. I can't really recommend Body of Evidence or The Next Best Thing. Who's That Girl, while not a very good film, I'd say to watch, as it has "cutesy" moments (though it's been a long while since I've seen it).

Madonna is really a terrible actress, but she is pretty decent in Evita. Desperately Seeking Susan and A League of Their Own are also good. You can keep the rest.
However, when it comes to compiling soundtracks, what she did with The Next Best Thing was brilliant!! I used to play the shit outta that whole cd (minus Xtina, of course). She's really good at stuff like that.

www.billboard.com/articles/events/women-in-music/7541832/madonna-2016-woman-of-the-year?utm_source=twitterMadonna Is Billboard's 2016 Woman of the Year10/14/2016 by Billboard Staff When the 11th annual Billboard Women In Music event hits New York City this winter, royalty will be present. Following a year where she extended her record as the highest-grossing female touring artist of all time, Madonna will receive Billboard's 2016 Woman of the Year award. “Madonna is one of a miniscule number of super-artists whose influence and career transcend music,” said Janice Min, president and chief creative officer of The Hollywood Reporter-Billboard Media Group. “With her creative vision, relentless innovation, and dedication to philanthropic causes, she is an inspiration to hundreds of millions of people around the world, all while shattering every career record out there. She is an important feminist on top of that, a one-of-a-kind artist who’s used her influence to change the conversation around women, sexuality and equal rights.” From her Prince tribute alongside Stevie Wonder at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards to her political Met Gala appearance to her indelible commentary on the 2016 election, Madonna has remained a constant force in pop culture and source of cultural conversation over the past year. Her Rebel Heart Tour, which wrapped in March, solidified her status as one of the biggest touring acts of all time. Madonna sold more than 1 million tickets and walked away with $170 million. That makes her the highest grossing solo touring artist in Billboard Boxscore history (the archives go back to 1990) with a staggering $1.31 billion in total concert grosses. In addition to being the first female pop star with true control of her career and image, Madonna is the best-selling female recording artist of all time. She's earned 8 No. 1 albums on the Billboard 200 and 12 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100. With her 46th No. 1 on the Dance Club Songs chart in 2015, she extended her own record for the most No. 1s on a single Billboard chart. The seven-time Grammy winner will receive the honor at the 11th annual Women in Music event, held Dec. 9 in New York City and airing nationally on Lifetime on Dec.12. The star-studded event is held in conjunction with the publication of Billboard’s Women in Music list, which identifies the 50 most powerful female executives in the industry each year. Madonna's Raising Malawi organization is currently constructing Malawi’s first pediatric surgery and intensive care unit, which will double the number of life-saving surgeries performed on children each year, provide intensive care after critical surgeries, and train specialized Malawian medical staff. The Mercy James Institute of Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care facility will open in 2017.
