F#cking dead and buried at that "Happy" update. He's gonna be #1 next week. The airplay gap between him and Katy is becoming a non-issue. He is so going to hit 400K-500K after the Oscars. Although, doesn't "G I R L" have a Complete My Album option on iTunes?

Whoops. Odd to release an album without the song that's giving him his biggest success ever!

It is most definitely on G I R L and was made album-only on the soundtrack, hence why he lost #1 for a day or so.

It's on Pharrell's album. It's listed on the tracklist on iTunes, and it was played mid-album at the listening party.

They also removed the Album Version off of the iTunes charts so that the single version will be the only one charting.

Oh okay, I mixed things up. :s
Btw: 1 Pharrell Williams - Happy (From "Despicable Me 2") 1.0000 1.0000 2 Katy Perry - Dark Horse (feat. Juicy J) 0.5991 0.6388
I think it's pretty safe to say we'll have a new #1 for the next or the following week.

AI gap on BDS will be 20 million max (and that's being generous to Katy and very conservative for Pharrell; more updates like today will see the gap almost gone). Sales gap should increase further. Streaming gap will as well. I have a feeling Katy will barely take the lead this week and Pharrell barely next week. The following week will easily be Pharrell unless something strange happens.

Year-End #1 seems obvious at this point.

Yeah... I don't think "Dark Horse" is going to get a 5th week at #1.

What about streaming and on Demand? Nm... I checked last weeks numbers and #1 is probably a foregone conclusion for Happy at this point!

Katy Perry's new Video for Dark Horse came out Thurs. It's got about 11 million views and counting( only some of that is USA views of course). Is that enough to keep her at #1 for another week?

The thing about the "Dark Horse" video, though, is that it was already getting large streaming numbers from the audio video. Those watching the video aren't necessarily new viewers, but rather many of the same viewers who were watching the audio video. It's very likely that we'll see a much lower bump in streaming with "Dark Horse" compared to other video releases. The same thing happened to "The Monster." It's the downfall of waiting too long to release the video. While it will keep it steady in streaming and sales, it doesn't really give it the big boost that releasing it earlier does. Video release timing is such a nitpicky thing.

I mean...who's getting "happy" behind the scenes for Pharrell's song to have increased 13M in two days. LIke WTF
Seriously though
I want to say that it could eek another #1 this week and then Happy most likely it's has it for months.
I wouldn't mind seeing Katy's next single Birthday (hopefully) replace Happy...you see what i did there...corny but still
That or 1st singles from Rihanna, Adele, Nicki Minaj or Taylor.

People who appreciate good music? people who have a good ear? People who listen to music and feel it, like get into the music instead of those who unnecessarily use music to write essays and bullet points that nobody is "happy" about.

"Happy" has a huge sales lead, good call out, buzz from already being a huge hit all around the world before taking off in the US, the Oscar buzz, the Pharrell comeback buzz... Anyone questioning its popularity has their eyes closed.

Yes- a slew of factors have been working in unison to make "Happy" the smash it's become.

I would like to see a newer artist take the #1 spot in coming weeks. I still would love to see Pompeii at #1, but it's not gonna happen. It's boring to see Katy Perry, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Adele, Beyonce all over the charts. It's time for a male to take over the top spot for numerous weeks again.

I think that Katy will be one more week at #1! Streaming numbers will be very good! Already 20mil views on yt video! I know that digital numbers will be much smaller than for 'Happy' but she will have about 20mil gains more on airplay! So, go DH!!!

I find it interesting that female artists are creating better music but get shut out of high places on the chart because males are so dominant.
