They should've released it earlier in the week to ensure another week at #1. I think it's a little harsh to call that out as a misstep. "Dark Horse" is massive and spent multiple weeks at #1. "Unconditionally" may have broke her perfect streak but I'd say this era is going pretty damn well for her. Beyond happy to see John Legend getting such great, unexpected success. I didn't say Dark Horse was a misstep. I think it was a brilliant single choice, and it got all its weeks at #1 before the video release. I said the video was a misstep, as it hasn't garnered as much interest as her other videos have out the gate. And with the criticism going on, it just doesn't seem like a good choice video wise.

I haven't heard much mentioned that Happy is from an animated movie. I believe only one other #1 song came from an animated movie - "A Whole New World" - which means we have an interesting coincidence this week. We have a soundtrack from an animated movie at #1 and a track from an animated movie at #1 at the same time.

^Not to mention, "A Whole New World" hit #1 this exact week 21 years ago on this chart date (March 6, 1993).

People who appreciate good music? people who have a good ear? People who listen to music and feel it, like get into the music instead of those who unnecessarily use music to write essays and bullet points that nobody is "happy" about. I wish i would have seen this a couple of days ago...yes at you acknowledging my essays while writing one yourself...my impact is undeniable. Music is subjective by the way ;) If music is subjective then the part I bolded in your initial post wouldn't have come out of your mouth, right? Right. Take your own advice.

Reading comprehension is key... First it didn't come out my mouth...pauz. Also, the bolded part doesnt shade the song quality or your subjective statement of good quality music. It was in reference to the insane increases over a two day period. Its a shame that you don't comprehend that properly. Oh well...moving forward.

Great digital numbers for "Dark Horse" still. Should easily become her next 5 million seller. I think it might even be able to get to 6mil by the end of the year.

Bubbling Under: "17 1 – 2 We Dem Boyz, Wiz Khalifa 1"
This should have a 100 peak from H100, but for Billboard allowing White Walls to get an extra week after it dropped from Top 50. It too bad Billboard doesn't apply its arbitrary "rules" consistently.

That would explain why it's sticking around, but I don't think it did

Can we stop crying racism now that nearly the entire top 5 is black? 7 black artists vs 1 white. Don't minimize people's genuine concerns by referring to it as "crying". You completely missed the point of that other thread.

Hot 100: 88 0 Hot Shot Debut 1 Glory And Gore, Lorde 88
Her fourth entry. Supposed third single "Tennis Court" not currently on the chart, and seems to have been replaced by "Glory and Gore" for a March 11 adds date on Alt/AAA.

It too bad Billboard doesn't apply its arbitrary "rules" consistently. Not to play devil's advocate, but who's to say another old song wouldn't have just re-entered at the #100 spot? It's annoying that songs like White Walls and I Love It got those random unexplained weeks below the top 50 but let's not just assume Wiz got screwed by the decision.

It's annoying that songs like White Walls and I Love It got those random unexplained weeks below the top 50 but let's not just assume Wiz got screwed by the decision. Very true 100 could've been a re-entry, which also is funny - that a song can re-enter the H100, but not the Bubbling Under. So if you release a song and it hits 98 its first week, but drops off to say 103, it is ineligible for Bubbling Under - the only chart action that song can receive is on H100. My point is that BB is not consistent in its rules - e.g. , "Only Time" could re-enter after use in a foreign ad, but all those streams for LHG were ineligible because of some weird quirk, which could still be measured. Despite the fact that the Budweiser ad contained a significant amount of the song and was probably the most talked about thing that week and the Super Bowl.

Yeah, agreed. I hate the lack of transparency in the rules. BB says "downward moving songs below 50th that have spent 20 weeks on", but then for some reason allow songs to remain. I wish they would at least just throw up an explanation for why songs get to stay around for an extra week.

Only one white artist in the top 5? Wtf? A corny white ass Carrie stan trying to dismiss and make fun of racism which is an actual serious issue that destroys the lives of millions of people, not surprised!
