In relevance to the Harlem Shake rule (where you can spend 16 weeks on the chart and reach #4 on the year end) The Monster had rather large digital weeks at the beginning of the 2014 chart year which I think will keep it above rank 10 in the year end. Also my predictions weren't accurate they were just using current numbers ;) Obviously gaps will be filled. You could spend a week on the chart and be the year end number 1 single if you sell enough copies. So... It's always possible....it's just not likely.

I think Dark Horse will be high in the year-end chart than Timber and The Monster, since it had a slower climb, and I think it'll have a slower fall as well. I'm interested about lower down the chart as well. I really hope songs like 23, Show Me, Turn Down For What, My Hitta, Paranoid will be able to make it. Also, Dark Horse, Happy and Team are an amazing top 3 on airplay!

So if a Kardashian releases a single it's single week sale count will be millions and it will then die as everyone is sick of their voice/existence and then it will be #1 on the year end and I'll be a really upset Canadian.

It sold the most copies even when considering the airplay etc for the entire year. That's a very hard hurdle to manage. Plus no song selling that many copies is going to sell 0 the next week accept of the label cancels the song. That's simply not dealing in reality. We have to deal in reality at some point. The bottom line is you will never escape this theoretical possibility. The data is just that. Go with the data. Can't go wrong with the data no matter how much you have your own opinions. The data wins. Grammys are the otherside subjective awards which gives industry experts a voice in what is good music. Even they get it wrong. The data doesn't lie. You take it for what it is...

A song would need to sell at least 10 million copies in one week if it was to be number 1 on the year end chart with just one digital week... I think it would deserve it.

If a song can culminate into the biggest musical phenomenon ever in a matter of 1 week, than yes it could be deserving. What would make bigger headlines: "X Song Sold 4 Million Downloads in 1 Week" or "X Song Has Eventually Sold 4 Million Downloads in 5 Months" The chart points would justify the former unfortunately.

Elton John ft. Maroon 5, Ke$ha and The Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Candle That Moves Like Jagger
I feel like that would be the requirement to sell 4 million in a week.

That's why I said that it would make for the bigger headlines and would justify it being #1 on the Year End Charts. Although it would take something like Jay-Z and Beyonce dying in a car crash while Blue Ivy survives and Adele features her on the track commemorating them.

Remeber how "low" Locked Out Of Heaven ranked last year? Pretty sure that's only because they didn't give songs extra points for the weeks without Youtube counting. It should have been much higher. hmm didn't know that, thanks for letting me know! And thrift shop still got #1, despite not getting possible streaming points : O. I'm suprised that they didn't adjust that for the year end chart, that's kind of unfair.

Thrift Shop still wouldn't have had the points to come close to Harlem Shake. The streaming points alone were enough to get it to #1. The digital sales weren't even necessary.

If "Harlem Shake" hit #1 because of the extra streaming (youtube), that means "Thrift Shop" was also getting the extra streaming too.
Unless I'm misunderstanding the conversation right now.

Thrift Shop got adjusted as well but Harlem Shake was just a beast. My only gripe still is the length with what was calculated for Harlem Shake.

The slayage that is about to be upon us when both Let it Go and Happy are performed at the Oscars. The lead on the latter on iTunes is CRAZY already.

How come "The Walker" jumped so high on iTunes? ABC is using it in their promo commercials for the Oscars.

On the topic of Streaming and year end fuzz and whatnot, I was on my way to the gym and International Love came on my iPod and it made me wonder, it's one of the most viewed songs on Youtube, what would it's position have been if streaming were included during it's chart run? (Peaked at #10 I think)

This is the new dynamic duo! :) AUSTIN MAHONE – Mmm Yeah f/Pitbull: 7.185 (+ 0.437) Kris international love was really memorable and still sounds fresh because radio only gave it 88 million AI, but with the streaming rule, I think that all the Planet Pit singles had the ability to go top 5. Hey baby only peaked at 7 because radio only gave it 72 million AI, but its streaming and digital sales were amazing in the US. Top 2 on iTunes without being overplayed.

A higher chart placement including streaming would depend on what songs were ahead of it during that period. Keep in mind that streaming would add points to ALL songs, not just Mr. WW So if the songs ahead of him were big US YT or streaming hits, they would still have more points, etc.

International love was meant to be top 10 too, but it was blocked by the Grammys,Domino, Madonna's gimme all your loving and the Superbowl; International love had better streaming than domino and the same digital chart success(both were top 10 on Itunes), but the radio airplay of Domino was higher. She was blocked by The Grammys, The Superbowl, Adele, Beyonce, 50 other people higher than her on the charts, less streaming locally, a hurricane that caused massive power outages, a monkey who caused an outbreak to a whole community that wasn't able to download or stream her song, Taylor Swift's singing going viral, PSY, Gangnam Style, Scram and Sh!t, 2 Beckys named Becky, Call Me Maybe, commercials on BravoTV, Harlem Shake, and Obama being re-elected.

'International love'had a bad timing, but the song is more remembered than other songs that went top 10 at that time. The video has almost 400 million views on Vevo! Everybody loves his music, even the haters!
This song only has 7 million AI and it's already outselling other songs with bigger airplay. Pit's digital powers always impress me! 80. Austin Mahone - Mmm Yeah (feat. Pitbull)
With the Youtube streaming 'Back in time' could be top 10 on the hot 100 as well. ;) It peaked at #11 without it.
