Attachment DeletedB939 @b939country 54m @scottymccreery's NEW song #FeelinIt 1st on @b939country ...coming up at 3:45 #ScottyFans bit.ly/1bFWe6P pic.twitter.com/wnrW7PAkUCI just listened to the station and before they played it they introduced it as Scotty's new single. This is the new Clear Channel owned Country station in Raleigh. This is the 2nd single from the "See You Tonight" album. Add date is 4/14. It will be shipped to radio 3/31. I believe this could be one of the Summer anthems of 2014. This was a very good decision!

New this would be the next single for awhile, but it's nice to have confirmation at last. Definitely excited to see how this does, because I think it'll be another solid Top 10 hit for Scotty, but here's hoping it can have a quicker rise so that it might be a contender for #1.

I definitely see this as a super radio-friendly song, and a possible #1 hit. Good to see that they aren't wasting much time getting it out there, because it's one of those "roll the windows down" type summer songs. I really think this could be the song that helps Scotty break out. I'm Feelin' It. ;)

Mercury sent this email to radio stations a few days ago... "Thank you all for the great support of Scotty McCreery’s current single See You Tonight. 48 weeks old! We will ship Scotty’s Feelin it on 3/31 and go for adds on 4/14 a month from now. Great tune for the upcoming summer!! Those who took so long to add See You Tonight PLEASE don’t wait so long this time! Scotty’s the real deal and has a ton of fans listening to your radio station. He’s on his way!" source: aoprep.blogspot.com/2014/03/is-chart-playing-you.html aoprep.blogspot.com/2014/03/a-correction-and-apology.html

^Unbelievable that Mercury would send that email out. Why? I don't see anything wrong with it. They are just being honest and straightforward. Labels should always be that way with radio. Tell it like it is, no beating around the bush.

^Because it's Bush League. It doesn't surprise me though and probably explains why Mercury is Mercury.

^Because it's Bush League. It doesn't surprise me though and probably explains why Mercury is Mercury. Would you mind elaborating on why you think this is bush league? I'm not seeing an issue with the message, and have a hard time imagining any label not begging radio to speed up its pickup of a non-core artist's single. But maybe I'm missing something. On the other hand, I'll be the first dissenter in this thread about "Feelin' It." Sure, it borrows rhythmic elements and trite summer signifiers from a parade of recent hit country songs and it's reasonably catchy. But there is nothing distinguished about the lyrics, melody, vocal or production. I can see absolutely no reason to root for yet another artist to be rewarded for chasing formula for the sake of radio presence. Good luck to Scotty and his fans, but wake me up when he releases something interesting. This single, to me, is boring.

Bush league hmmm. Well I guess Mercury could kiss butt like Big Machine and buy air time for their artist now that's crooked. As far as Feelin it as a single as I see it in order to get that number 1 single this type of song is what radio and the younger demographic want to hear . summertime is coming this song is perfect this time of year people want fun upbeat songs . Forget to forget you is the deep song Scotty will inevitably my hopes will release as a 3rd single amazing ... radio suggested Feelin it when they reviewed it . Scotty would love to release deeper content in his music but for now a fun summer song is the way he is going give radio and young fans what they want. Way I see these songs are the ones that get to number 1 and sell the most so so be it. Luke ,Cole , Florida Georgia line and many others did the same . Once you get that number 1 you can release what you want.

It's obvious based on Scotty's chart history that radio has had its reasons for not adding early or playing in high rotation his songs. There are tons of Artists that have been around for a long time like David Nail, Billy Currington just to name two that have been enduring the same slow rise to the top. I just think a simple thank you for support and we hope you find this next single as exciting and good as we and his fans do would have been better.

Once you get that number 1 you can release what you want. I completely agree with this. Eric Church had to write a "paint by numbers" Country song like "Love your love the most" to get his first radio hit and that led him to do the type of music he really wanted to do with "Chief", which is what broke him out in the genre big time. New artists have to do what they have to do in order to get their way in the end. That is the way this business works and those who have followed it for so long should be able to recognize that by now. If "Feelin' It" is Scotty's "paint by numbers" song its a heck of a lot better than some others in recent years in my opinion. I don't think Mercury's method was Bush League at all. I was a business marketing and management major and work in retail management. It all works the same. When you have a newer product you have to pull out the big guns and do what you have to do to get the results from the product you want to achieve from the suppliers who will be promoting it. It's not arrogant, it's smart marketing. I do it on a daily basis. Mercury is doing a great job. I'm sure we will be seeing a sweet Thank You banner in a coming Aircheck.

And I would agree that Scotty's first three singles, his first two in particular (which I thought were awful), likely contributed to radio's initial hesitation on "See You Tonight." I completely agree with this. Eric Church had to write a "paint by numbers" Country song like "Love your love the most" to get his first radio hit and that led him to do the type of music he really wanted to do with "Chief", which is what broke him out in the genre big time. Eric Church represents the opposite of what you're trying to argue, in my view. His breakout song was "Smoke a Little Smoke," which was considered anything but "paint by numbers," which peaked outside of the top-10 but drove big numbers for Eric, and in both his telling and that of UMG Nashville chairman Mike Dungan, set the template for Chief. ETA: One of many interviews in which Eric Church refers to "Smoke a Little Smoke" as his game-changer: New York Times; he also discusses its role in his career in Spin. EATA: Here we are. His breakout song was "Smoke a Little Smoke," which peaked outside of the top-10 but drove big numbers for him, and in both his telling and that of UMG Nashville chairman Mike Dungan, set the template for Chief. "Smoke" may have not hit the top 10 and yes it did cause fans to take notice, but with radio it took him writing the generic "Love your love" to get him into the top 10 for the first time. He has told that story several times too. Scotty already has the fans aspect covered, he needs the radio aspect and this new single should cement that! Another former Mercury artist, Reba, has said she had to sing the Urban Country of the early 80s she never wanted to do in order to get a few #1 hits and once she got them she was able to record the traditional music she wanted to make. Of course she had to switch to MCA to do so. But artists have to do the "formula" of the current day at the start for the most part in order to get what they want on future albums. In the 90s we had all the hat acts singing the same type stuff at the start of their careers. Some stuck with it til the end of their radio career like Alan did and some changed with the times like Tim, Toby, and Kenny did. Scotty has everything it takes to evolve as he gets older as he writes more to show who he really is. "Feeling It" is for radio but his album has other songs like "Forget to Forget You" and "Something More" that shows a totally different side of him but radio won't play that side. Radio has a formula and Scotty still has to abide by it. And he's doing a great job with this song. Can't wait to see it hit #1 and I will frame the chart when it does! And I don't see how this can be any less "boring" and "cookie cutter" than "That's My Kind of Night" was and that was from an A list artist!

I'll be honest and say I do feel bad being a detractor of a song when the consensus is positive; especially when it's someone as down the earth and deserving of success like Scotty. But I too feel this song is boring. I certainly don't dislike it, but it's very generic and vanilla in terms of lyrics, and melody. The only thing I might disagree with Dudley about is the vocal, which I feel adds slightly to this particular song, but overall I would have rather seen a more interesting song as well from Scotty at this point of his career. Though I do completely understand why his label went with this choice as it should prove to be the safest single choice to follow up his first top 10 single.

I don't see this as a masterpiece by any means - it's just a clean and simple "feel good" song.
There are plenty of gems on his album (hello "Carolina Moon") but radio unfortunately wouldn't touch a classic country ballad like that.
"Feelin It" is refreshing to me because it's a fun song that actually doesn't have a theme of drinking beer and being promiscuous on dirt roads.

Unfortunately radio isn't looking for a masterpiece from what you hear on the radio sadly even veteran alisters are trying these feel good light songs as some call frat boy bro country which I like by the way sad thing is from them it's not believable so it doesn't work .I remember an interview with Trace Adkins about how radio is no longer excepting his music and maybe his career could be over it broke my heart because I love Trace .I feel like radio is shutting some of these greats out like Brad and Trace that saddens me even Josh Turner said in an interview that he had some major writers block with his up and coming album he said it seems everyone is writing about the same things the melody is the same he was trying really hard to be current and radio friendly but stay true to himself as an artist that unfortunate because it ties the hands of these amazing artist some can't even write their own music anymore so they seek out writers in the industry and that's how the cookie cutter song was born . Sad to say that radio really does decide who makes it and who doesn't even the DJ's don't get to decide what gets played anymore all comes from corporate higher ups there are many DJ'S that don't even like country music but spin the records they have no passion for it because they have no control . Bottom line is Scotty needs that number 1 so he can sing what he wants in the future the difference is Scotty is 20 years old in college he can sing those bro country Songs and makes them believable. Radio needs to wake up there is room for all the styles of country music and for all the great artist. They all have true blue fans that want to hear and buy their music that's the bottom line when did the fans become not the top priority and they wonder why album sales are so low.

I don't see anything arrogant about the email, maybe just more silly/kind of a waste of time-it made me laugh. PDs aren't dumb enough to respond to a 'play their song sooner' message like that-most labels probably just send a simple Thank You-but no harm, no foul, if Mercury thinks that sort of think will influence anyone, vs make them chuckle.
The song has a nice sound and is better than Thats My Kind of Night exponentially, but make no mistake-it is simply Bro Country lite (ie, Bro Country cleaned up for Scotty to avoid overt sex mentions) and is boring/copycat.
While sadly true that artists may not get their songs up the chart without relying on formula/copying other's 'artistry' I certainly am not going to call something a great song that isn't......there are plenty of artists that put out content without conforming like Dierks, Carrie, Keith, Eric, etc. Yes, many are established but many a new artist like Charlie Worsham, Kacey M, Easton, Jamie Lynn Spears are brave and put something out with content and in the long run that will serve them better. I am no chart historian, but I also recall ERic Church noticed for his notable/different songs-not formulaic ones.
Not saying Scotty's team isn't smart-this song is just putting out the same old kind of stuff that sadly is hitting the airwaves. He is a popular American Idol with a decent voice and a quite dedicated fan base so he is actually in a way better place to come up with better stuff than a new artist. The only song I really like off the album is Carolina Moon; now it could be the addition of Alison Krauss, but most likely it is due to the content.
But as we know plenty a formulaic song will do well on the charts. Not sure this is a slam dunk for #1 by any means (maybe radio is looking for more from him like some music listeners??) but I think it will do well.

Decent voice hmmm way off on that one . That's all I have to say about that. Kacey M cant sing and her way out of a paper bag I could not even classify her in the decent category her music content is awful that's all I have to say about that. I would challenge any male artist to sit on a stool with just a guitar with no help from the studio put them up against Scotty he would put most to shame . country music is evolving and some people had better get used to it this old school ways and mentality is a bit redundant. I love new and old country music .country artist are getting younger and the content is also so get used to it there is room for traditional pop and rock influence in the country genre. To say only one song on his album is appealing is so untrue on so many levels thank god that's the opinion of so few people . peace out I'm over it.

I totally agree with 43dudleyvillas on this song. I don't know why folks seem so enthusiastic about this song when a lot of other artists are criticized around here for releasing this type of pandering material. This will probably a big hit on the charts, but nothing sets it apart from all those other meaningless "bro" songs in my opinion, other than the use of less offensive descriptions of women.

I'm not too impressed with the song. I enjoyed See You Tonight; it felt new while still keeping a traditional style. This is a simple summer fun song, and there's nothing wrong with that. It's catchy and simple, but the lyrics are pretty weak especially in the verses. When the radio becomes flooded with these kinds of songs, it's hard to really be impressed with one like this.

How can one's own opinion be "way off" and "so untrue on so many levels?" I personally believe that to say Kacey Musgraves can't sing is "way off," but I wouldn't express such a view in that manner, especially when we're in a thread about Scotty McCreery. I also don't understand why you brought in a conversation about country music evolving. No one else was complaining about traditional vs. modern music. Some of us were just saying that this song seems boring and pandering. Are you saying that all modern artists want to sing about is "pop tops floppin'?" Obviously, that's not true. This has nothing to do with pop and rock sounds in country songs. We're complaining about generic lyrics, and would do the same if an artist like Charlie Worsham or Easton Corbin released a traditional-sounding country song about rockin' their iPods. I agree that country music is evolving and I want the format and country sound to evolve, but that is a totally unrelated discussion.

You brought up Kacey on this thread not me I just thought that if you thought so liberally to comment on generic lyrics and Scotty's singing ability I liberally decided to throw in my own objective opinionated views about Miss Kacey M and her lack there off vocal abilities as well as her lack of class in her lyrics yep she got trailer park right. .Luke ,Cole ,Florida Georgia line and many others that sing some bro country are laughing all the way to the bank and selling out venues everywhere . when Scotty new single Feelin it goes gold and platinum as did SYT I'll be laughing at the nay sayers .The thing is SYT has sold almost 600 thousand on itunes it's higher then pretty much all in the top 10 so I ask you what does the listeners want to hear? By the way the first 300 thousand sold without virtually minimal radio play . Randy Houser is about to venture to number one and I think he is in less then 300 thousand in itunes sales funny how radio decides who hits number one and who doesn't with no consideration to popularity record sales or the listeners . Even if Feelin doesn't hit number one but I'm sure it will it will still out sell most of the other artist that their label buys there success for them and radio complies to these tactics without any fan support .

I take great offense of your posts thus far and it comes off very defensive and uncalled for. People here just want to voice their opinions about Scotty's song and his career, and you are making responding in any thread with his name in it extremely difficult. And calling out other artists, to make your point about your favorite artist is also uncalled for.

I'm looking forward to see how the early adds come in. I'm sure this will get a couple at least Monday. Raleigh is a given. There are 3 Mondays til the official add Monday on the 14th. It's gonna be interesting for sure to see how the adds stack up.
Speaking of Raleigh, does anyone know how long it will take til their new Clear Channel station can be added to the chart panels? Surely it will sooner or later.

I didn't direct comment to anyone.Someone threw Kacey In The Mix SO I Threw It back. As far as Grammer and punctuation is concerned who really cares it's not like I'm trying to impress any major high society over intellectual group of people . You might want to read some of the post on all the threads most opinions are down right insulting to the artist and their fans I post here very minimally because of the comments and so called opinions. It seems funny its an opinion for some and insulting for others. Don't worry I'll go away so the elite over achieving people can feel comfortable voicing their point a view . It's funny I'm the one called negative when that's all that's on here is negative.Hey by the way how's my Grammer? annoying I hope . By the way picking on people about Grammer and punctuation is a low blow you should be so proud . Bye all

stylin1188, no one wants you to go away. We just wish you wouldn't come across as so aggressive in some cases. For example, it is pretty offensive to say that Kacey Musgraves lacks "class" and to imply that she should be living in a trailer park, or to say that you'll be laughing at all the naysayers when Scotty gets a Platinum single. McCreerian is probably among Scotty McCreery's top ten biggest fans, yet never gets defensive or aggressive when folks criticize Scotty or his music. I don't mind people criticizing an artist's music, but I don't think there are any grounds for such personal attacks. I feel the same way when people say such things about FGL, Scott Borchetta, etc., even jokingly so. I try my best not to be one-sided about any of this and apologize if I ever do seem that way. It just tends to be so much easier to point out fallacies such as personal attacks on an artist when the artist is a favorite of most Pulse users. As for the punctuation and grammar, it has nothing to do with impressing us. We're not a bunch of snobs. It's just kind of hard to understand what you're trying to say and people might be less likely to harshly criticize your posts if they were more well-written and included some stronger points. Maybe you could explain why you think Scotty McCreery is better with a guitar than most other country artists, or, if this weren't a Scotty thread, you could explain why you think Kacey's lyrics lack class. Getting back to the discussion about why Scotty's music is selling and yet still not resonating with radio as well as some songs selling much worse, I think radio is obviously harder on reality TV stars, as they know that a lot of those sales could be from folks who don't really listen to country radio. Of course, SYT had great research scores as well, so I think Scotty just needs a song that is a little less run of the mill to break him through. Randy Houser, whose current single is selling pretty dismally for a top 5 chart position, is on a really good record label. Broken Bow Label Group is an indie label, so I think they devote more time, money, resources, etc. to radio promotion and are very persistent about fighting a song's way up the charts. In general, I do think radio tries to play the stuff that is selling the best. There will always be outliers, like Kacey Musgraves' songs, which I guess are controversial or something, and radio might just be skeptical of Scotty at first because he was on Idol and is pretty young. However, I do think "Feelin' It" is the kind of song that will sell well and break him through.

Not a fan of this song but I don't know if it can grow on me. See You Tonight is the first single from Scotty that I like, and I'm so happy with its success though I think singles in general should not stay on the charts that long.
