After "Royals" and "Team" each led Adult Pop Songs, Republic Records chose "Tennis Court" as the third single from Lorde's debut full-length album "Pure Heroine." The label then switched plans to the set's "Glory and Gore" following its usage in promos for the History channel's "Vikings." Now, Republic has settled on "Tennis Court" after all and the track debuts on Adut Pop Songs at No. 39. It's sold 355,000 downloads (vs. 307,000 for "Glory"), according to Nielsen SoundScan, while its video has drawn 36 million global YouTube views.

The song is the lead single from (incredibly) her first solo album, "Stockhom," due in the U.S. on June 10. Apart from the Pretenders, who've tallied six top 40 albums on the Billboard 200 between 1980 and 2008 and six top 40 hit singles on the Hot 100 (1980-94), Hynde has scored occasional solo success: "Breakfast in Bed," with UB40, reached No. 4 on Alternative Songs in 1988 and Tube and Berger's "Straight Ahead," featuring Hynde, topped Dance/Mix Show Airplay in 2004, marking her last solo chart entry until this week.
