Solid perfectly planned top of Page 2 chart. Probably won't ever do that again. Okay, so this chart is actually on time and I have internet so this is going up at the right time. Apologies for the chart spam, things should be normal for next week. The record-breaking run at #1 from Dangerous finally comes to an end as Hozier's Take Me To Church storms from #11 to claim the top spot on the chart. It's the second-largest jump to the chart's peak, only Mr. Tembo's jump was higher (from 12, so not that much higher). It might not have the strong run Dangerous had at #1, but there aren't any direct competitors so it should be good for a week or two. Also I'm still loving the song and it's in heavy rotation, so that never hurts. White Lies sticks around near the top at #3 but drops a spot for the new chart king, while Feels Like We Only Go Backwards manages to keep its position by vaulting one song. 3005 and Lazaretto both move up one spot to #5 and #6 respectively but might have problems getting any higher. Mr. Tembo relinquishes two spots and falls to #7. The big casualty within the Top 10 is Hip Hop Kids, dropping from #3 -> #8. With two other PtM songs below in the next three positions, I don't feel too bad about the drop. Creep In A T-Shirt is one of those songs, and moves up a spot. Finally, the other new entry to the top frame of the chart is Out of The Black from Royal Blood. It's the only song to make the Top 10 of the chart after Bubbling Under for 5 or more weeks (it Bubbled for 6) but probably won't stop there. The first half of the week was obscured by spotty Internet and few new songs, so it's no surprise the Hot Shot debut is at #70. Nice and Slow is the second chart single from Max Frost, and might signal White Lies dropping from the top soon. It's the second lowest Hot Shot ever ( Jesus Walks debuted at #74 on the chart's second week). That's more of a testament to the short week rather than the strength of the song though, and it should be moving up the chart in a few weeks. Fools Gold manages to be a Fitz and the Tantrums song I haven't charted yet, so it slots in at #74. It also happened to be announced as the third radio single from More Than Just A Dream which isn't any coincidence whatsoever. (*cough*) Sleep Forever finally joins the chart among all of the other Portugal. The Man songs so might have a slow start, but it was time to stop it's BU run even though the chart is a bit clogged with the artist. Guilty Filthy Soul joins at #80 to replace All I Need just beginning to drop. It has a chance to peak around the same spot, maybe a little higher. Spiderhead follows up the failed run of Take It Or Leave It by charting at #82. It's already almost past TIOLI's peak (#70) but has a way to go before Come A Little Closer's (#31). A new artist to the chart joins at #85 Back and Forth from Austin, Texas group Bright Light Social Hour. Final Masquerade is a last second add from Linkin Park to replace Until It's Gone at #88. Not sure how it will do and if anything else from The Hunting Party will follow. Finally, Jungle at #90 is the last new song, probably will have a bit of trouble in the beginning of its run from a chart logjam but should eventually see daylight and move upwards. Most notable dropout is Let It Go, which leaves The Walker and R U Mine? as the only songs remaining from the first week. One of their days may be numbered though (guess which?). I Wanna Get Better becomes the first #1 song that wasn't on the first week's chart to drop off, and Sing breaks the record for highest drop off the chart, from #64. As a final note, I started a ten song recurrents chart that I might include in later weeks. It's not exactly huge news but it's nice for me because it can suppress my urge to make older songs re-enter just because I'm feeling them a little bit more recently.Prime example is the inaugural #1, Stolen Dance, which I've been listening to quite a bit again since it's started its US Alternative Radio climb. I don't really think should re-enter the main chart since it will just block fresher songs from getting a shot when its run has already ended (even though it didn't get the peak it deserved). I still haven't had any songs re-enter the full chart (and only one Bubbling Under re-entry) and I'm not sure if I ever want that to happen. Anyway, that was long. Sorry. Have fun reading. Year-End Top 100 (First Two Quarters)
I'll probably have a long, grand writeup at the end of the year talking about each song and posting their run, peak and weeks on chart alongside the song. As that's six months away, the midyear countdown is nice and easy. Just the Top 100, and a sweet background color so you can see who is still grabbing points and who isn't. I'm guessing a lot of these songs will be shuffled downwards by the end of the year to make way for some of the more dominant songs (Dangerous, Mr. Tembo, etc.) Rank | | Artist | 1 | The Walker | Fitz and the Tantrums | 2 | She Knows | J. Take Me To Church remains atop the chart for a second week with no huge competition. Dangerous and White Lies both retain their #2 and #3 placings and probably don't have any upward momentum left. 3005 is the first song to do anything interesting, and moves up another position to #4. I feel like I've said this a few times now, but this is probably as high as it's going to get with a few songs rising quickly below it. Out Of The Black is one of those songs. A week after entering the Top 10 it jumps up to #5 and is within reach of the chart's juggernauts. Lazaretto sticks around at #6 but probably won't be able to hit Top 5. Good news is two other singles on Lazaretto are making their way up through the lower regions of the chart. Purple Yellow Red and Blue is the only new entry to the Top 10 this week. This makes it the fourth Portugal. The Man song to hit the Top 10, which might be a record but I haven't calculated it in a little bit so I'm just going to assume it is. Feels Like We Only Go Backwards is the first song on the chart to actually lose positions, and takes a pretty heavy hit down to #8. Creep In A T-Shirt maintains at #9, and is probably near its end due to PYRaB's strong bullet. Finally, Mr. Tembo's Top 10 days are almost over, as he slides from #7 -> #10. This was a slow week for the Top 10, next week should pick up though. I don't want my chart to become the Hot 100.
The big story for this week was the 10 chart debuts, I guess trying to make up for lost listening time when I was on vacation. That's a new record, as the old milestone was at 9. Jealous (I Ain't With It) becomes the Hot Shot Debut this week at #50. Last week it was one slot away from dropping off the Bubbling Under chart, and now it's already in the main chart's top half. It's odd how I've been grabbing some recent chart hits from the bottom of the Bubbling Under. Makes me wonder what other hits I've missed down there. These Days from the Foo Fighters comes in at #57, where most weeks it would be the Hot Shot. A quick listen of Wasting Light last week had me realizing I missed out on some of the non-singles from that album and they should be charting in the coming months. At #71 is a new artist to the chart, Bas, with My N!gga Just Made Bail. He's signed to J. Cole's label and the song is a solid start to his career. So American enters at #78, and furthers my goal of eventually charting all of Portugal. The Man's discography. Left Hand Free is next up at #81, which grew on me quite a bit after the first listen or two. I'm still not thrilled with what I've heard from This Is All Yours but it took a bit for An Awesome Wave to grow on me so maybe that's the case here. Goodness Gracious charts at #85, Ellie Goulding's second chart single after Figure 8 peaked at #42 in the early weeks of the chart. In at #88 is an Alternative gold track that I hadn't really known anything about until recently, Young Folks from Peter Bjorn and John. I'm unsure of how this one's going to grow on me but it should be a little tricky for any of these songs to move up in the first few weeks due to how crowded the bottom 50 is. Elephant from Tame Impala is in at #91, entering just in time to make a run as their Top 10 single starts to fall off. Pills N Potions charts at #96, which isn't all that notable other than the fact that I sort of like a Nicki Minaj song, which is something I thought would never happen. Finally, Hustle Bones from Death Grips makes an entry at #99. Death Grips are a band that I've really been interested in for while, because of how left-field they are. I've Seen Footage had one of the chart's weirdest runs, peaking at #90 with 10 weeks on the chart, and I'm not sure where this one is going. All right, so that's all of the debuts. Textwall complete.
The biggest news in the dropouts is R U Mine? has exited the chart, leaving The Walker as the only song from the first week still charting. That song has a few weeks left in it but I'm excited to reach the first fully fresh chart week. Stolen Dance remains the recurrent #1 with a few new competitors. The final piece of news is I've begun constructing my year-end chart video, which I may or may not post here depending on how it turns out. I've collected 20 of the 100 clips, but don't want to get too ahead of myself because there's still 20+ weeks to go in the year. Starting now means it won't be a huge crunch at the end of the year which is cool. Hopefully these writeups don't get any longer.

Take Me To Church spends its third week at the chart's peak, with Dangerous resting close behind. Still really enjoying them both. Purple Yellow Red and Blue is the first newsmaker of the week though, as it jumps from #7 - #3, and now is within reach of the #1 spot. Out Of The Black still manages to claim another chart position despite Portugal. The Man vaulting past, and 3005 drops as a result, though it would still have a bullet if I did those. White Lies is the first big dropper of the week, Max frost dropping three spots after spending five consecutive weeks in the Top 3 without any at #1. Creep In A T-Shirt manages to move up two positions, though its window to get a strong peak may be closing. First new entry to the Top 10 this week is Manchester Orchestra's Top Notch, which didn't catch on at all on Alternative radio but steadily made its way to #8 in nine weeks on the chart. It's a slower climb than most of the huge chart hits but that typically means a little more longevity. Lazaretto's reign near the top is done but Jack White still got to enjoy another week in the Top 10. Finally, Alors On Danse is a final surprise addition to the Top 10, blocking Dignity from New Politics. Stromae earns his first T10 song (though papaoutai would have hit #1 if I had my chart last fall) and could fight for the top few spots in the coming weeks. Hot Shot Debut this week is a bit of a surprise, as Twenty One Pilots make their chart debut with Holding On To You at #56. 21P are a band that I've hated with a passion in the past, but I've been listening to their first single from Vessel quite a bit over the past week and it grew on me quite a bit. Unsure whether this is a certain jump to the Top 20 like most of the HSD's though. Seeya from deadmau5 follows his last single Ghosts 'N Stuff from the chart's first week and enters at #63. This one has a lot more upside than the 21P song. Inhaler from Foals enters at #79, a song that Bubbled Under on my daily chart back in January but I guess I forgot about it for a bunch of months until I heard it again recently and charted it instantly. The High Road becomes another single from Broken Bells; their primary song is Control for now but this could replace it later down the road. Agora from Bear Handscharts next at #84, Giants didn't do all that well, peaking at #88 with only two weeks on the chart, Agora has already passed that and probably has a positive bullet for the future. Black Widow jumps in at #86, following Spiderhead as the second single from Melophobia after I listened to it in full for the first time. Collard Greens is in at #90, joining the club with Inhaler as a song I forgot about for several months before charting it now. Finally, Fairytale becomes the third Milky Chance song to chart. It enters at #93, and probably won't be as successful as the other two but I was listening to it enough to warrant a chart entry. No hugely notable dropouts, no previous Top 10 hits exited so it was mostly just older songs that needed to leave. Recurrent #1 shifts hands to Tesselate from alt-J, which was on the chart's first week but far past its peak at that point (probably wouldn't have hit #1 but easily Top 10). Bubbling Under #1 goes to Bridge Burning from the Foo Fighters, which will most likely be the next single to chart after These Days gets a bit of a jumpstart up the charts. No huge updates on the chart as a whole either, a couple new clips were grabbed for the YEC video but other than that just a regular week. Hope you enjoy reading, this update seemed a bit smaller than the past few weeks. I'm Only Joking probably has a decent Top 10 run ahead of it, and Best Friend will be on its slow descent for months to come. I only recently got back into summer after hearing a few times again and realizing that I was still really into the song, so I gave it a rebound. I'm not sure how many more weeks it has on the rebound though and might not top its old peak. It did give the song nice longevity though. Thanks for checking out the chart! Yeah sorry, Love Runs Out just started to burn out on me suddenly, and because the bottom of my chart is so crowded that usually means the song drops off. Thanks for your comment!

Expecting "Best Friend" to not free fall to be honest and the longevity for "Summer". You're welcome, by the way.

Yay "Take Me To Church" is number one! I'm glad to see "Gold" is hanging in there. Great chart! Gold just dropped position the last two weeks, but when I get around to posting this week's chart (probably in an hour or so), you might be happy to see where its bullet is headed. Take Me To Church will have a lengthy stay near the top of the chart as well. Thanks for reading the chart!

Oooh! I just found your chart. LOVE your taste in music. The top half of your chart is pretty amazing. Yay for the "Agora" and "Inhaler" debuts. Love seeing "Black Out Days" on here too. :)

A new number one song claims its place at the top of the chart, as Purple Yellow Red and Blue rises from #3 to become the chart's 12th #1 hit. It's Portugal. The Man's second #1; they become the first artist to have a second chart-topping single. It also shattered the record for longest climb to #1 by two weeks, reaching the summit in its 10th week. (The previous record holder was tied, one of the two songs being PtM's last #1, Modern Jesus) Take Me To Church and Dangerous each fall a position but are planning on hanging around for a while. Out Of The Black and 3005 remain at #4 and #5, and are sort of stuck in those positions due to the strength of the Top 3 songs. They're both still bulleted, so hopefully they can advance soon. Alors On Danse from Stromae makes the biggest move, jumping from #10 - #6 and hurdling Top Notch, which still manages to move up a spot as it passes some falling songs below. White Lies nears the end of its Top 10 run and falls two spots. Tongues from Joywave (ft. Kopps) enters as the only new Top 10 entry, from #15 up to #9. The reason for its big jump after a few weeks where it seemed to be slowing down? The Big Data remix that I started listening to in pretty heavy rotation this week. So Joywave helped Big Data to #1 for 5 weeks on my chart, and now Big Data is helping Joywave into the Top 10 with their single. Creep In A T-Shirt falls a few spots and Lazaretto exits after four weeks in the Top 10. Top Debut of the week is alt-J's Hunger of the Pine at #58. The song Bubbled Under for five weeks (Run:13-12-13-21-12) and then made its entry on the main chart. It has grown on me tremendously in the past two weeks after I really didn't like it for the first few listens. Though that's what I felt about the first few alt-J songs I heard from their debut album so it really doesn't surprise me. #1 Active Words As Weapons from Seether jumps in at #62. I don't listen to enough Active songs, I completely missed this one until just recently, and it took it being #1 on a format for me to listen to it. Gooey enters at #70, Glass Animals is another new artist to the chart. I'm not sure where this song is headed, but it has that alt-J uniqueness to it and could grow on me in the future. Figure It Out is the follow up to current #4 Out of the Black from Royal Blood. This one got a bit of a quicker start, only Bubbling Under for a week instead of six. Next up is the chart's first ever re-entry (only took half of a year!). I Don't Want To Be Here Anymore rejoins the fray after a two week break, one spot below its previous peak but with a very strong upside for the future weeks. I wonder if it will take 26 weeks for the next re-entry? Superheroes is the next lead single (I think)from the Script at #82. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite Script songs, and might pass Breakeven soon enough (it's already at the least equal to Hall of Fame). Proxy becomes Martin Garrix's third chart entry, following Juan Carlos's recommendation I gave it a listen and after a few weeks Bubbling Under it made the entry. I expect it should move up once it gets a few weeks under its belt. Finally, Word Crimes from Weird Al Yankovic's newest #1 album debuts at #98. It probably won't be on the chart long, but I decided to give it a debut because several of the mistakes he discussed are ones I can't stand people making (I could care less is the worst). Most notable dropout is Animals, leaving the chart after 23 weeks of service and a #5 peak. The aforementioned Proxy debuted though, so Garrix keeps two songs on the chart. Bubbling Under #1 belongs to Bridge Burning again, it should make its full chart entry next week. Tesselate keeps its position as Recurrent #1 as well, alt-J has been scrobbled quite a bit recently. Thanks for all of the comments you guys leave on the chart, I'm glad I found this place and all of the people that share my obsessive charting interest. On to the real chart before I break some kind of writeup length record. The Chart ~ July 30th, 2014 LW | | PK | WC | Song | Artist | 3 | | 1 | 10 | Purple Yellow Red and Blue | Portugal. Welcome to the chart for the week, this time the special Skittles ® edition. Decided it might make for easier viewing of who went up and who went down by including colors on the last week's position, but it could just be really distracting. If you have a preference/don't want a headache, let me know. Let's get on to the rest of the writeup. Purple Yellow Red and Blue remains at the top with a healthy lead over the rest of the competition. Out Of The Black moves up to #2, bypassing two #1 smashes after being stuck behind them for two weeks. I don't think it has the strength to grab #1 but I could surprise myself. Dangerous and Take Me To Church sit below, though Dangerous gets to stay in place as Hozier flips below. 3005 stays at #5 for the fourth (and third consecutive) week, Top 3 appears to not be in its future. Tongues continues its upward ascent led by the Big Data remix, and moves from 9 - 6. Stromae's Alors on Danse drops a spot but maintains a small bullet. Big news in the Top 10 this week is Gold's entry at #8. Moving into the Top 10 in its 17th week, Sir Sly easily takes the crown for longest climb into the Top 10. Debuting at #76 the week of April 16th, it storms into the top grouping with a strong bullet and may do some damage in the Top 5. White Lies nears the end of its Top 10 tenure as it slides a spot, but has spent 8 Weeks there so a bit of turnover is nice. Finally I'm Only Joking from Kongos enters the chart, following #6-peaking Come With Me Now and #82-peaking I Want To Know. It has a strong chance to become the biggest Kongos single once the huge chart hits clear out in the next few weeks. Killer Whales is the Hot Shot Debut of the week; Smallpools had a #1 hit in the early weeks of the chart with Dreaming on February 26th and look to be setting up for another big song. Not sure if this is the lead single for their debut full-length or not, but either way it's a good song and that's all that matters. Bridge Burning finally gets its place on the chart at #71 after Bubbling Under for three weeks. With These Days looking to hit the Top 10 in short order this will be a solid follow-up in the weeks after. You Haunt Me from Sir Sly, the actual lead single for their debut full-length comes in at #76. Not sure if this will hinder the upward momentum of Gold but it will earn a run for itself soon enough. Holly Roller (Hallelujah) is the 9th song to chart for Portugal. The Man, drawing them closer to Fitz and the Tantrums for the most chart entries (10). A few songs Bubbling Under for PtM too, so that record might change hands. Mind Over Matter jumps in at #84 just as Crystallized begins to stall out. It's the title track and third charting song from Young the Giant's sophomore album. Don't is Ed Sheeran's second charting song and just caught on this week. Hopefully for Ed it won't burn and drop as fast as Sing did (that song still holds the chart's highest drop off at #64). Finally, Cardiac Arrest from Bad Suns slides in at #94. Another Alternative song I just started to get into right when its run on radio ended. No high dropoffs this week, though two Top 10 singles are now gone. X-Kid from Green Day had a quick descent, but at least I found a song that I enjoyed on Tre. Big news is the chart's first ever Hot Shot Debut, She Knows is gone after 25 weeks on the chart. The Walker still remains at #92, but probably not for much longer. A bit of a sentimental drop as She Knows is the first song that I discovered after starting the chart that I loved and could consider in a list of my Top 100 All-Time favorite songs. Bubbling Under #1 goes to Junior Prom with Sheila Put the Knife Down. It's spent three weeks on the chart but might debut as early as next week. Recurrent #1 returns to Stolen Dance, as Tesselate falls to #3, R U Mine? moves up to #2, and She Knows enters at #4. Onto the chart. • Good to see "I'm Only Joking" in the Top 10 and "Are You What You Want to Be?" is close to reach inside it too. • Nice debut of "Don't". • I didn't comment last week, but it's so great to find "Proxy" here. Thank you for considering one of my recommendations :)

Yay "Gold" and "3005" are in the top ten!
Okay, so I didn't notice that you were charting "No Rest For The Wicked", so I love that you did. However, I'm disappointed that it fell off. I'm just now getting into it. :(
Great chart! :)

I'm just now getting into it. :( Great chart! :) No Rest For The Wicked sort of got caught at a bad point in my chart's history where I was debuting a bunch of songs and it wasn't one of the songs with a huge bullet. So because of that it was stuck behind all of the songs with those huge bullets and never got a chance to grow on its own right. I do like the song though, it just entered at an unfortunate spot on the chart to get a good run. Maybe it will re-enter some point in the future. 3005 and Gold both might be nearing the end of their Top 10 stays (though Gold has stuck around forever so who knows) but they both will go down as huge chart smashes, so I'm glad you like them too. Thanks for reading! • Good to see "I'm Only Joking" in the Top 10 and "Are You What You Want to Be?" is close to reach inside it too. • Nice debut of "Don't". • I didn't comment last week, but it's so great to find "Proxy" here. Thank you for considering one of my recommendations :) Thanks for the recommendation, I always love to find new artists or songs from artists I already enjoy. I'm Only Joking has a lengthy Top 10 stay ahead of it. AYWYWTB might not make it all the way to the Top 10 though, it started out quite strong but I haven't been playing it all that much recently. There's also quite a few songs that had to make their way into the Top 10, so maybe there will be a clear spot that opens up soon for Foster the People to earn their second T10 single. I think I like Don't a lot more than Sing, and hopefully it won't burn as fast. Maybe it can make its way up to the Top 10, either way it will probably drop a little smoother than Sing did. Thanks for checking out the chart!

I'll be looking forward to seeing if "No Rest" re-enters, then! Also, I'll try to go through and check out more of the songs on your chart so I have something else to root for.

Purple Yellow Red and Blue remains #1 for the third week, though its bullet is nearly gone and I wouldn't bet on it lasting a fourth. Out Of The Black hangs around at #2 but is in a similar bullet situation. Next week's Top 10 is going to see a pretty huge shakeup. Tongues is one of the songs looking to challenge for #1, as it moves from 6 - 3 in its 11th week. Dangerous drops a position to compensate but is still in heavy rotation. Gold continues its amazing run upwards and jumps three spots to #5. With several strong songs charging upwards it may stop here but its run was still quite impressive. Take Me To Church has nowhere to go but down with the bulleted songs and drops two spots. These Days becomes the only new song in the Top 10. In preparation for the November Foo Fighters album I looked back to see if there were any songs that I missed really getting into, and a few managed to chart here (Bridge Burning might have a shot at Top 10 in a few weeeks). I'm Only Joking moves to #8 and is now only two spots away from becoming the highest peaking Kongos single. 3005 and Alors On Danse are shuffled downwards as they start to decline in airplay. It Was Always You is the Hot Shot this week, the second song released from Maroon 5's fifth album effort, V. I didn't like Maps at all and felt Adam Levine's voice didn't fit the track at all. It sounds perfect here, and the 80's vibe grabbed me enough to earn a nice charting spot. Got It All (This Can't Be Living Now) rivals the longest-named charting songs and is yet another Portugal. The Man single to debut. It's just below Maroon 5 at #64 and has strong upside for the next few weeks. The first song not to come from the Bubbling Under chart is Trojans from Atlas Genius. Another song that I just missed before I started following radio and the Alternative charts, and just discovered now. This and several other Atlas Genius songs will have strong runs in the future. The other non-bubbler debut is Trainwreck 1979 from Death From Above 1979. They jump in at #81 above most of the songs falling but now has to make its way through a crowd of songs trying to rise up the chart. Supersoaker is the fourth song to chart from Mechanical Bull. The Kings of Leon lead single took a while to grow on me but I enjoy it now. Expect a similar or slightly worse peak than Wait For Me. Do You is Spoon's next lead single, currently trying to make it out of the 40s on Alternative radio. It should have a stronger showing on this chart. From Eden is the follow-up to Hozier's 3-week #1 smash, Take Me To Church. It enters at #91 and has a little time to grow before it starts its primary charge. Finally, Sheila Put The Knife Down is in at #95, last week's Bubbling Under #1 takes its shot at the main chart. If it can make it through the bottom 25% of the chart it should have room to grow into a solid run. Two former Top 10 hits finish their chart runs. Back Against the Wall exits after 19 weeks and a #3 peak. Fever falls off after 19 weeks and a #8 peak. They both earn slots on the recurrent chart, at #6 and #10 respectively. The Bubbling Under #1 goes to Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst from Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d City. It probably won't enter the chart since it's 12 minutes long but the song is a masterpiece so it deserves some recognition. Stolen Dance remains at recurrent #1, holding that title for 4 of the 6 weeks the chart has existed. There may be a shakeup coming to the recurrent chart soon as some chart titans prepare for their exits. Thanks for checking out the chart! Tongues is the champion this week, climbing to the top after 12 weeks on the chart. This breaks the record for longest climb to #1 by two weeks (unseating the last #1, Purple Yellow Red and Blue). The reason for its continued rise after 12 weeks was due to the Big Data remix that I really got into about a month ago that gave the song a second life. Anyone who decided to glance at the chart rather than just this writeup can probably guess what's happening next week by who is #2. Words As Weapons just barely misses #1 this week, in what was probably the closest race to #1 in chart history. Barring something completely unexpected it should grab #1 next week but for now has to settle for runner-up. Purple Yellow Red and Blue falls to #3 but probably has a bunch of weeks left in the Top 10. These Days continues its ascent upwards, hitting a new #4 peak. I'm Only Joking is close behind, moving to #5. Dangerous is finally bumped out of the Top 5 for the first time in 12 weeks. It now ties After the Disco for the most weeks in the Top 10 record. Expect it to break the tie and extend its lead in future weeks. Gold finally takes a turn for the bottom of the chart and slides two spots to #7. Out Of The Black is the big dropper this week with all of the upward momentum. It falls 6 spots to #8 after two weeks at #2. Spiderhead is the second new entry to the Top 10. The should-have-been-picked-as-the-third-single-from- Melophobia track enters at #9 but might have some issues with all of the strong songs above. Finally, Take Me To Church remains at #10 to close out the top of the chart. Every Other Freckle is the third song released from upcoming alt-J album This Is All Yours, and my strong favorite of the three. It jumps in at #44 which puts it among the ten highest debuts ever and most likely has a Top 10 future. Rollercoaster from Bleachers becomes the third song from Jack Antonoff's group to chart, already outpeaking Shadow (#75) from a few months ago. If So follows up Trojans from Atlas Genius at #72. Trojans is currently destroying the chart so this one should probably hang around for a bit before it starts its true run up the chart. Beautiful is another follow-up, this time to Pop Evil's #18-peaking Torn To Pieces. Take You Back enters at #89, jumping on late as Alex Clare's sophomore album dropped out of nowhere. War Rages On did decently, peaking at #31 so it opens up some opportunity for other songs to succeed. Escape joins at #93, the fourth song from Kongos to chart. I'm With You enters at #93 from Grouplove. A momentous song to chart as I hated most of what I heard from Spreading Rumours but this song has clicked with me after I heard it a few times. Will it give a chance for other songs to chart? Maybe, as long as they aren't Shark Attack, which I still despise. Finally, a song that Bubbled Under for five weeks, Hive from Earl Sweatshirt is in at #97. It's going to have an uphill battle to make a noticeable dent on the chart but there are several plummeting songs it can pass easily. The Walker is finally done. In its 29th week, the chart is finally refreshed with none of the 100 original songs remaining. The longest charting active song is now Say Goodbye from Beck with 25 weeks on. How long until the 28-week record will be broken? My guess is at least 4 songs currently charting will surpass it but Fitz and the Tantrums always have that milestone to look back on. Kendrick holds the Bubbling Under #1 with Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst. The Walker moves back to a new #1, as it now claims the recurrent peak, bumping down Milky Chance. Predictably Words As Weapons claims the #1 slot this week. It would have popped in last week if it weren't for Tongues finally grabbing the peak after 13 weeks. Both songs swap places and remain far above the rest of the field. These Days jumps up one spot to #3 but might stall out before reaching the top. Dangerous has a surprise rebound up two places, spurred on by my enthusiasm that it's actually going for CHR adds in a few weeks. This week is Big Data's 14th in the Top 10, breaking the record set by After the Disco a few months ago. Not sure how much farther that record will stretch, but 20 weeks probably isn't out of the question. I'm Only Joking flatlines at #5. Purple Yellow Red and Blue falls three places, however its replacement isn't far behind. Spiderhead moves to #7 but now has several strong songs to contend with. Sleep Forever is the next song in line to hit Top 10 for Portugal. The Man. It hits #8 after climbing 8 spots and is ready to settle in for a nice run. Take Me To Church manages to move up a spot while its bullet falls. Finally, Chromeo enters with Jealous (I Ain't With It) up two spots. The song had a quick start but slowed down in the last few weeks. I just got back into it so expect a decent Top 10 showing. Casualties this week are Gold and Out of the Black, falling from 7 > 11 and 8 > 12, respectively. An old Alternative hit earns the Hot Shot Debut this week, as Super Bon Bon from Soul Coughing debuts at #53. I had been a fan of Mike Doughty in the past with songs like Looking At the World From the Bottom of A Well, but had no idea until recently about Soul Coughing. The song should do well (maybe Top 10?) and hopefully future singles follow. Next up is My Demons by Starset, a song some might classify as old seeing as it's spent 298 days in the Active Rock Mediabase Top 50 but hasn't been recurrent yet. I heard it near the end of the week and it's already my most played of the week in last.fm. This one should quickly hit the Top 10, and maybe even a future #1 if it maintains momentum. People Say makes it 97% of Portugal. The Man's discography to chart. ta fete is Stromae's 5th entry on the chart, following up Alors On Danse after its Top 10 peak. I charted all of the first three singles from racine carree (though two peaked before I started my chart) so this one should have a good run. Latch is another song I've gotten into late, didn't think much of it a year or so ago when I first heard it but pop radio has wormed it into my brain. Panic Station is a song that has Bubbled Under for several weeks and finally made the push for the main chart. It enters at #92. Guts Over Fear was the last addition of the week, a new sort of introspective song from Eminem that could burn out quickly or have longevity. Metal Zone is another Bubbling Under graduate, jumping in at #96 with room to move up. Hideaway is the last entry, just sneaking in at #100. I debated whether to chart this one, but I've played it frequently in the past few weeks so it probably deserves a charting. Still not sure if I really like it or not though, might just be really catchy. No crazy dropouts this week, three ex-Top 10 songs are gone with Wizard, Magic, and Reverse making their exits. Cigarette Daydreams is the Bubbling Under #1 (the third for Cage the Elephant, a record). Stolen Dance returns to the recurrent #1 again, and it might be a while before it is overtaken since it has continued to grow in the US. As for updates to the chart this week, the songs that have graduated from the Bubbling Under are now visible through these |XX|. Blue songs are debuts, and the ones that have a number instead of a dash are the ones that had to suffer in the 25-song Bubbling Under chart. Anyway, enough ranting, enjoy! It's good to see "Words As Weapons" at number one, and "Dangerous" in the top five. I'm also glad to see "Jealous" moving into the top ten, and "Gold" having such amazing longevity, among other things.

Words As Weapons is a strong #1 for now and has at least a week or two nearly guaranteed, but there are several songs that I think will challenge for the top soon. Dangerous isn't going anywhere in the Top 10 for a while, especially if it starts to grow on Pop. Jealous might make Top 5, I'm not sure if it can hang on with a bunch of songs pushing to get into the Top 10. Gold is done but will have a nice slow descent down the chart.

Words As Weapons spends a second week at the top of the chart, and distances itself from the rest of the field. These Days moves up to #2 and probably has reached its peak as Seether is far ahead. Tongues falls another spot after its historic slow climb to #1. I'm Only Joking moves to #4 after 11 weeks charting, cementing its status as the most successful KONGOS single in my chart's history. Sleep Forever hits the Top 5, the fourth Portugal. The Man song to clear that mark (nobody else has more than two). Dangerous spends its fifteenth week in the Top 10, dropping two spots but still holding its own. Spiderhead maintains its #7 placing, its plays have slipped in the past few weeks but it still hangs on with a weaker bottom of the Top 10. Jealous jumps two spots, but doesn't have a huge amount of momentum left. Take Me To Church holds at #9, stalling its drop for the third week after it spent a few falling from #1. The sole entry to the Top 10 goes to Trojans from Atlas Genius in its fourth chart week. Up from #17, it has a shot at grabbing #1 in the future, and at the very least should manage at Top 3 peak. Seether is winning every contest on the chart this week, as they grab the Hot Shot Debut with Same Damn Life, second single from Isolate and Medicate. Entering at #60 it has a little ground to climb but could easily hit Top 10 if it maintains its momentum. Maroon 5's Animals enters at #66, the second song from V to chart. Not sure why this wasn't the lead single since Maps was so mediocre but I'm glad they're pushing a solid track to radio. It Was Always You is hovering around #20 a little farther up the chart. Get Hurt is next up at #77, a song I hated after a few listens but then changed my opinion. It Bubbled Under for 3 weeks and fell off, but managed to sneak into the main chart without having to go back on the BU chart. Neon Light is up at #78, a very rare country song to make my Top 100 (maybe only the third in history after See You Tonight from Scotty McCreery and Blake's Doin' What She Likes, haven't fully checked but that's all I can remember). It's a little uncertain where its chart path is headed but it looks positive so far. Jake Bugg's Lightning Bolt debuts at #81, Bugg's first entry and a song I missed until way after its chart peak. Down By The River is another Milky Chance song to enter, none have found the success Stolen Dance did (#1 on my Daily Chart and #21 in the chart's first week). This is the official 2nd single in most of Europe so maybe that will propel it further up the rankings. Cigarette Daydreams joins at #92, another song from Melophobia (an album I loved, by the way) after being announced as the 3rd radio single. Busy Earnin' is the chart's final entry, making it in after a few weeks Bubbling Under. Jungle's single is really catchy, similar to Jealous for me and hopefully it can replicate that song's successes. Holding On For Life has let go and is the most notable dropout for the week. It spent 25 weeks on the chart, peaking at #5 (would have been higher if not for it being overshadowed by 4-week #1 After the Disco). Consequently it moves to #1 on the reccurents chart, unseating Milky Chance. Will it hold on or will Stolen Dance reclaim the title it has so valiantly defended? I'm not sure, haven't made next week's chart yet. Soft Serve is the Bubbling Under #1, a sure strong debut in a week or two that may push along a string of Soul Coughing songs to make runs in the future. No huge chart news this week so enjoy reading! Someone who knows Portugal. The Know along with me :o Amazing chart! I had heard of them in the past but it took until around late March for me to go back and check out most of their discography. I'm currently in love and have now charted a good portion of their songs. Thanks for stopping by!
