Moving previous post...
CMT does a good job of weeding out the non-current people; therefore these are a pretty good group of nominees that does a good job of depicting country radio from the past year
Early thoughts: - No obvious big hit misses in the Video of the Year category, a nice job covering most of the big hits on country radio this year. My only (slight)surprise is the lack of Jason Aldean. - Changing of tides in the male vocalist category: no Toby Keith, no Kenny Chesney, no Keith Urban, no Tim McGraw, no Brad Paisley. I feel like this might be the official change to the new group of male vocalists. I think Keith and Tim still deserved to be nominated, but who would they have replaced? Every nomination in that category was well deserved. - Praying again FGL's duel nominations in the duo category give it to T2. It is also a chance to see how many fans do Dan + Shay really have. - Sara Evans is the only person that is missing from the female category, but I am not sure who I would have replaced her with. Everyone of those other songs was bigger besides Sheryl Crow's Easy, so I am not too upset about it. - Glad Rascal Flatts got back in on the group category. it is a shame the other award shows limit their nominations to 5, because their really are 6 current staple country groups and they all should recieve the honor. - Breakthrough Artist nominations are ok for me. I dont understand why Brett is nominated for BOTM when Dont Ya was his real breakthrough. I also love that David Nail got a nomination, but this is his third top ten hit and his second number one and his followup single is (unfairily)struggling. I am not sure he fits. I would have loved to have seen Maggie Rose's Better as another female nominee. Also, feel that Parmalee has a little right to be upset over being snubbed here. We will see if Cassadee Pope's Voice voting pool is still backing her here, because if so, she wins this. (She's my pick.) - If HDC doesnt win for Collaborative, the world is ending. - Rooting on TBP for performance; still jamming out to that. - Overall, Big Machine Label Group has gotta be thrilled with getting Cassadee and Thomas a couple big nominations, while Broken Bow Group has the right to be upset because their group suffered really the only snubs in a solid group of nominees.

Just saying, for the hosts, I'd like to see a couple younger artists. Just to mix things up. Maybe a Randy Houser & Cassadee Pope pairing just because it'd be different. Both are nominated too, one's a starlet from American Idol, the other has 3 straight #1's (right?), I think they could market it well. I also think they clash a bit in style/personality which could be fun. But, I HIGHLY doubt it will be anyone other than established artists. Always enjoy the award shows for the surprise collaborations and the fairly funny monologues.

Mostly pleased with the choices, though I'm more than a little disappointed that "Slow Me Down" isn't nominated for Female Video. Taylor's single obviously performed better on the charts, but video-wise I wish Sara had gotten her spot since "Red" got a video made with live footage.

Kristen Bell is hosting. She hosted the show with Jason Aldean last year, and with Toby Keith the year before that, but she is hosting it alone this year.

Is this event any good? I've never watched it.. but I got tickets to it this year. It's a fan-voted event and it always has some great performances (i.e. Little Big Town + Keith Urban last year). Plus, it's one of the only awards shows that actually airs all of its awards on-camera, so there's that. Should be fun -- enjoy!

A new slew of performers have been announced for the show and it includes some awesome acts, including Lee Ann Womack, in what I believe is her first awards show performance since the ACMs in 2009. "Ten more performers have been added to the 2014 CMT Music Awards, giving this year's show more live performances than ever before. Dierks Bentley, Brantley Gilbert, Hunter Hayes, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Kacey Musgraves, Jennifer Nettles, Jake Owen, Keith Urban and Lee Ann Womack are all confirmed to perform during the event. The 2014 CMT Music Awards will air live from Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on June 4 at 8 p.m. ET. " www.cmt.com/news/country-music/1727724/cmt-music-awards-add-10-performers.jhtml--------- I cannot wait to see Lee Ann Womack! There seems to be a pretty good variety thus far, unlike what we had with the ACMs this year. Nice to see that Kacey and Jennifer will get to perform. Also very excited for the new LBT single.

Shoot, I might have to watch this this year with them getting a few different names to perform. I usually skip this show.

Someone in Kacey's band Instagrammed a picture from rehearsal. Kacey will be singing with Lee Ann Womack from the looks of it. Caption: "Duet Rehearsing with @spaceykacey and Lee Ann Womack. Not a bad time." http://instagram.com/p/owqsIPo6Mj

How silly of me for thinking that one of Country's leading ladies and another one of Country's classic female veterans would get their own solo spot on a Country awards show. God forbid 90% of the men on the lineup perform together since they're all basically going to be performing the same damn song.

^ I'm curious if Kacey will get a second solo slot or they both will. I found it a little odd. I adore Kacey and Lee Ann but I wanted solo spots. So totally get it!
Not sure if this is known but Hunter will be singing with John Legend. Someone tweeted singing All of Me with Hunter, which is John's song. I assume it is a fill in spot since John is currently on tour. John is confirmed to be attending through a picture on instagram of the seating. He's seated between Jennifer Nettles and Keith/Nicole

Got some clarification on perfromances: @cmilove 1m Look for @johnlegend to perform with @jennifernettles and @hunterhayes on guitar. #CMTAwards Details: CMT also has matched up John Legend with Jennifer Nettles and Hunter Hayes to sing Legend's No. 1 hit "All of Me." @tnmusicnews 59s CMT Music Awards will honor Alan Jackson for 25 years in country music. @leeannwomack @kaceymusgraves and @carrieunderwood will help. @cmilove 36s .@jasonderulo will perform #TalkDirty with @flagaline. #CMTawards Details: Derulo, Bryan and FGL will perform the latter two acts' team-up "This Is How We Roll" before Derulo segues into his hit "Talk Dirty." (Organizers say there's another surprise in the show-opening performance that even Derulo is unaware of.) CountryMusicIsLove @cmilove 2m @jakeowen @ladyantebellum, & @blakeshelton will perform on the plaza stage & Broadway will be CLOSED for one of the performances #CMTAwards Source for details: news.yahoo.com/jason-derulo-john-legend-among-cmt-awards-vips-180031971.html

Excited, but why are all of the solo female spots just getting shoved in with a bunch of men? I love JNet and John Legend, but I was expecting JNet to get a solo. Damn. @tnmusicnews 59s CMT Music Awards will honor Alan Jackson for 25 years in country music. @leeannwomack @kaceymusgraves and @carrieunderwood will help. THE WORLD IS NOT READY@cmilove 36s .@jasonderulo will perform #TalkDirty with @flagaline. #CMTawards ...the world is not ready. Details: Derulo, Bryan and FGL will perform the latter two acts' team-up "This Is How We Roll" before Derulo segues into his hit "Talk Dirty." (Organizers say there's another surprise in the show-opening performance that even Derulo is unaware of.) Hopefully the surprise involves their trailers getting pushed into the Cumberland River located conveniently down the road from Bridgestone.

I was really hoping that they'd get solo spots, but maybe they still will? Sometimes the tribute performers still get to sing their own songs.
And a big ew @ the FGL performance including Jason DeRulo and "Talk Dirty." FGL alone would be bad enough as it is.

I thought CMT stood for Country Music Television. Now it stands for Crossover Music Television.

I wonder who will win Rap video and Rock video tonight... Surely they have added those categories by now... If not they will by next year.
Tonight we will head 3 minutes of Country music, the Alan tribute. The rest of the show is gonna be pure crap as far as I'm concerned.

#Lee Ann Womack and Kacey Musgraves singing "Livin' On Love". :)
