Missed getting the "new" charts out again before they became "old"
I am still copying the 6/7 charts. Will the "current" thread bring more discussion of these just released charts or will "last weeks" thread do that?
I will put them where people will be more likely to read and discuss them.
Current charts in the current thread? or current charts in last weeks thread?

I think it's better to stick to putting 6/7/2014 charts in the 6/7/2014 thread.

I agree, as the charts reflect activity that was covered in the 6/7 thread.
Radio is having no- ahem- problem- with the Ariana Grande/Iggy A. track.

Wake Me Up juuuuuust might get a year on the Hot 100...at the slow rate at which it's falling, it's possible for it not to fall more than 10 positions in the next 4 weeks. Happy Continues to fall faster than Dark Horse, wonder if it will be below it next week. God I hope not! I don't want DH to steal that year-end #1 from Happy.

Duca, explain to me, please. The airplay chart includes the last 7 days. Its first day was replaced with its 8th day, and since its 8th day was smaller than its first day (big hype) it fell. It'll gain again tomorrow.

Sing already peaking? That has to be disappointing to label three weeks before album release. Perhaps, second wind. It looks like most songs only had minimal movement.

"Stay With Me" is moving along rather nicely hopefully it blows up once the album comes out. Its doing rather well on itunes too.
Jason Derulo whats the point of all these hit singles if they dont translate to album sales, just not connecting even with his songs always doing well.

Very true and while I don't like his music I'm more wondering since he fits that mainstream artists role and people like his singles why they don't buy and support his albums. I guess I don't get the logic from the public.

We don't live in the era anymore where the only way you can enjoy a favorite song or two from "blank" artist, you have to purchase the album. Jason Derülo, Flo Rida, Pitbull & others all suffer from selling albums, but on the flipside shift some pretty good units on the singles. 3-4 singles also weigh out selling the album they have, so I suppose it's a win-win situation. I even think if they released a 5 song EP w/all the singles they intend on releasing that era, it still won't sell b/c their music just isn't taken that seriously to fully support it.

I simply see no promotion for the album, they release the date it's coming out, and that's about it. And his label has done that ever since "Whatcha Say" was released.

I say why release albums at all if you are a singles artist? Well, despite low album sales, they do still shift some albums. (I myself have purchased a Flo Rida album actually because it was rather strong.) And they do still have a few hardcore fans (*ahem*, charismatic) that will buy their albums. No fan wants to be denied the pleasure of more music from their favorite artists. It may not be raking in a lot of money for the labels, but I'm sure it brings in some, especially when you add the rest of the revenue from the success of the singles, so I don't believe they're losing money by releasing albums. Plus, albums give the artist more music to perform on tour. (Which makes me wonder, how do the likes of Derülo, Flo Rida, and Pitbull do on tour?)

I'm assuming out of those 3 you've mentioned, Derulo seems like he can put on a very good show.

Again, why not just buy the singles as they come out if you are a fan. More songs can get attention form the general public. If you can get 3 or 4 songs per year to sell a 3million copies, why not. With an album you've now wasted most of the songs on it. They are not going to get attention no matter how good they are.

Very true and while I don't like his music I'm more wondering since he fits that mainstream artists role and people like his singles why they don't buy and support his albums. I guess I don't get the logic from the public. The thing with Derulo is that he also has writing credits on all of his hits. By playing the licensing game right, he still makes a lot of money. Sure, not as much as he would if he was able to sell a lot of albums, but don't expect him to go broke or switch to a lower tax bracket anytime soon. A lot of people are still seeing album sales as the end-all of success, which is an outdated view. The logic is that the public likes his songs enough to buy them and like/don't dislike hearing them on radio enough so that they don't tell the stations to stop playing them. Success comes in different forms today, and Jason is one of the most successful people out there now, regardless if some people want to acknowledge this or not.

With an album you've now wasted most of the songs on it. They are not going to get attention no matter how good they are. Because fans want more music. Would you rather want 3-4 songs per year from your favorite artist, or 10-15 every one-two years? And it's not like the songs are going to waste. The song from albums that aren't singles probably weren't single material anyway. But, just because a song isn't single material doesn't mean it isn't good. A song with the potential to be successful is not the same as a single that people like and vice versa. Case in point: pretty much everytime the fans get to pick singles from an album, they end up flopping.
